Chapter 67: No Matter How Good Food Is, It’s Not as Sweet as a Wife
After finishing his shift, Qin Wan went to Sheng’an Hospital again.
Zhou Rong’s body was becoming stronger by the day.
Her complexion was also looking better and better.
“Xiao Wan, I talked to the doctor. He said my body is recovering very well and I can be discharged in a few days.”
Qin Wan smiled and nodded. “Mhm, that’s wonderful.”
Zhou Rong took Qin Wan’s hand and patted it gently.
“This illness of mine has made you suffer too much. Once I’m discharged, I’ll find a job that isn’t too physically demanding.”
“Earning a bit is better than nothing; I want to help share some of the pressure with you.”
Qin Wan shook his head. “No need, Auntie Rong. I’m currently learning techniques at the restaurant. When I open my own restaurant in the future, I’ll surely earn much more than before.”
“You just rest peacefully at home; you don’t need to do any work.”
Looking at Qin Wan’s handsome little face, Zhou Rong’s eyes were full of pity and love.
“Xiao Wan, you must not work too hard!”
“Auntie Rong also wants to ask—how is your relationship with that President Gu? Is he good to you?”
Although Zhou Rong found it a bit difficult to accept Qin Wan becoming “friends” with a man, she wasn’t a narrow-minded person and respected Qin Wan’s choice.
But that man was, after all, not from the same social class as Qin Wan; she often worried that Qin Wan would be bullied.
The corners of Qin Wan’s mouth curved up. “He’s… quite good to me, don’t worry!”
Regarding Gu Xinglan, Qin Wan didn’t know how to evaluate him.
Although their relationship had begun with Gu Xinglan’s cruel and violent coercion, even now, he was still the one in the superior and dominant position in front of him.
But if one traced back to the source, he was, after all, the one who had wronged the man first and hurt him.
Moreover, he owed Gu Xinglan such a massive amount of money, and Gu Xinglan had even helped cure Auntie Rong’s terminal illness.
Qin Wan knew in his heart that without Gu Xinglan, given his own abilities, whether Auntie Rong could have survived this summer was a question.
So, to him, Gu Xinglan was a very contradictory hybrid.
He couldn’t help but hate him, yet he couldn’t help but be grateful to him.
Qin Wan let out a soft sigh.
Auntie Rong’s brow furrowed slightly. “What is it, Xiao Wan?”
Qin Wan quickly covered it up. “Oh, nothing. I’m just a bit tired.”
Zhou Rong said, “Then hurry home and rest. You don’t need to come see me every day; Auntie Rong doesn’t want you to be so exhausted!”
Qin Wan held Zhou Rong’s hand and pressed it gently against his cheek.
In the evening, he returned to the Shengshi Daguan Villa.
Qin Wan went into the kitchen and made two dishes.
At the dinner table that evening, Gu Xinglan ate with great relish.
While placing food on the man’s plate, Qin Wan said, “Gege, Auntie Rong’s body is slowly getting better. I’m really grateful to you.”
“I was thinking, could she be discharged in a while?”
Gu Xinglan nodded slightly. “She can. Once she’s discharged, tell me where she wants to live, and I’ll help her arrange a property.”
Qin Wan quickly waved his hands. “No need, no need. I asked, and the apartment we rented before is still vacant.”
“We can move back there.” He said the last sentence in a very small voice.
As he spoke, he observed Gu Xinglan’s expression.
The chopsticks in Gu Xinglan’s hand paused slightly.
He looked up and gazed at him.
“What do you mean by ‘we’?” His voice sank slightly.
Qin Wan’s heart trembled. “Gege, I feel that after Auntie Rong is discharged, she’ll need someone to look after her at home, so…”
“So you’re playing little tricks with me again? Hmm?”
Gu Xinglan put down his chopsticks.
“Come here.”
Qin Wan lowered his eyes, stood up, and walked over to him.
Gu Xinglan reached out and pulled the boy onto his lap.
“When she’s discharged and goes home, I can hire servants and a housekeeper for her. If three aren’t enough, I’ll hire five. Why would you need to look after her?”
“Qin Wan, are you trying to use this opportunity to leave me?”
He gently clamped the boy’s beautiful chin and turned it toward himself.
“Tell the truth. No lying allowed.”
Some unreadable emotions brewed in his phoenix eyes, making Qin Wan’s little heart skip a beat with nervousness.
Qin Wan had already developed a sense of self-awareness: he should try his best not to lie to Gu Xinglan.
The man could see through it in a single glance, and the unknown consequences were often terrifying.
“I… I don’t want to leave you. I just want to know if you…” Qin Wan stammered, choosing his words carefully.
Gu Xinglan: “What?”
Qin Wan lowered his gaze, his long eyelashes concealing the emotions in his eyes.
His voice was tiny and soft.
“I want to know if you’ve grown bored of me. After all, I’ve been by your side for nearly two months.”
“My point is, if you’re bored and the novelty is gone, I’ll…”
The hand Gu Xinglan had on Qin Wan’s waist applied a bit of force, pulling him tightly against his body.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, staring into the boy’s dark, clear fox eyes.
“Qin Wan, it seems I haven’t worked hard enough, such that you still have extra energy to think about these pointless things.”
As he spoke, he gripped the back of the boy’s neck with one hand and wrapped his other arm around his waist, pressing his overbearing and scorching lips down forcefully.
Qin Wan felt a deep hatred, yet a sense of helplessness, toward Gu Xinglan’s habit of kissing someone half to death at the slightest disagreement.
“Mmm—” A low moan was sealed in his mouth, with only fragmented breaths escaping from between their lips and teeth.
This kiss of Gu Xinglan’s was aggressive, carrying an inexplicable sense of ferocity.
He was being quite fierce, rubbing against Qin Wan’s lips harshly.
Qin Wan understood that the words he had just said had made the man unhappy.
This was a small punishment in disguise.
But he felt that what he had said was already very tactful and sincere.
Didn’t Gu Xinglan lock him by his side just for the novelty and pleasure?
As a private pet, he had done his best to make the man happy during this time.
If the man was bored, he surely wouldn’t stay a minute longer and would run away that very night.
So, was there a problem with that?
Why was he throwing such a massive fit?
Qin Wan’s mind was a mess.
He already couldn’t think clearly, and being kissed by Gu Xinglan until the world spun only made him more confused.
He simply gave up thinking.
In Gu Xinglan’s hands, talking more was useless, and thinking more was also useless.
Whatever he gave, he would just accept it all.
Qin Wan closed his eyes and reached out to hook his arms around the man’s neck.
Taking a bit of a proactive stance, he kissed back.
His lips and tongue became entangled with the man’s, and at the right moment, he even bit the tip of Gu Xinglan’s tongue.
Qin Wan felt that since he couldn’t avoid being forced to kiss him, he might as well take some initiative and be a bit tougher; at least his heart would feel better.
However, right now, hearing Gu Xinglan’s breathing become increasingly rapid and heavy.
Qin Wan lost his nerve a bit, and his heart began to panic.
“Ge, Gege… we’re in the dining room…” His mouth was occupied, and he spoke in a muffled tone.
“Mhm.” Gu Xinglan only gave a muffled snort, having no intention of stopping at all.
Furthermore, one hand had already found the bottom-most button of Qin Wan’s shirt.
“Gege, you eat first! After eating… we’ll go back…”
Gu Xinglan’s voice was tinged with a raspy tone soaked in lust. “No matter how good food is, it’s not as sweet as a wife…”
He spoke softly and seriously in Qin Wan’s ear, his words blatantly soul-stirring.
“Baby, do you want to try it here?”
Qin Wan’s body trembled slightly, and his hands instinctively pulled the man even closer.
He shook his head. “No… not in the dining room…”
Gu Xinglan didn’t insist. He stood up with Qin Wan in his arms, holding him tightly in a horizontal carry, and walked straight out of the dining room.
He strode up the stairs and returned to the bedroom.
