Chapter 10 β How About Another Game? β
By the time they returned to the base, it was already dinner time. The team members ate something casually and went back to the replay analysis. Because NGU was a veteran team, the duration of this review was much longer than the last one. Coach Shen Chen and the team’s data analyst took turns; for a match that lasted just over twenty minutes, they lectured for nearly two hours.
When they finally finished, Lin Sumo asked weakly, “Having said that, it’s impossible for NGU to always use this tactic without changing it at all, right…”
“True,” Shen Chen agreed. “But the time to hone a new tactic isn’t short. Therefore, before seeing their new tactics, the old ones must be thoroughly understood.”
After mentioning a few more points of attention, Shen Chen let them go back to training.
Back in the training room, both Lin Sumo and Pei Yun started streaming. However, perhaps it was fate, their stations were the furthest apart, so neither knew the other was streaming.
Who knew that shortly after Lin Sumo started his stream, while he was still interacting with the bullet comments, a familiar ID suddenly floated by.
[ContentmentD: Son, haven’t slept yet?]
Uh… Wasn’t that his own mother’s ID?
He couldn’t remember it wrong. When registering the ID, the name was taken, so he had personally typed the “D” after the characters “Contentment.”
Lin Sumo had to answer honestly, “Not yet. Can’t sleep right now, have to train until… 2:00 AM.”
By the end, his voice got smaller and smaller.
βMother Lin hated him staying up late the most.
The other people in the livestream naturally didn’t know and were expressing their opinions one after another.
[Is this sister new? Want to join the fan group?]
[Must be, otherwise she wouldn’t be unaware of Trust’s schedule.]
[Son? First time seeing this address in Solve’s chat, but why is it inexplicably harmonious?]
Hearing his answer, Mother Lin typed again: [Didn’t I tell you not to stay up late? It’s bad for your health. Did you listen at all?]
Lin Sumo opened his mouth, not knowing what to say for a moment.
[Uh… Sister, that’s too much.]
[What’s with this mom-style lecturing tone?]
[This is the time set by the club.]
[Is it a sasaeng fan? Or does she really think she’s someone else’s mom?]
“Wait, wait, wait,” Lin Sumo hurriedly stopped the others’ speculation. “Friends, this is really my biological mom!”
He pinched the bridge of his nose and said helplessly, “Sorry, I need to make a phone call first.” With that, he grabbed his phone and left the training room.
Leaning against the railing at the end of the corridor, Lin Sumo dialed Mother Lin’s number. “Mom, how did you find my livestream?”
Mother Lin said calmly on the other end, “Your uncle’s son came over today. He found it using my phone, so I just watched along.”
Lin Sumo broke into a sweat. Suddenly thinking of something, he said, “Mom, I’ll share a livestream with you. Why don’t you go watch that one?”
“You… Sigh, alright.”
When Lin Sumo left the training room just now, he saw that Pei Yun happened to be streaming too. So as soon as Mother Lin agreed, Lin Sumo turned around and sent Pei Yun’s livestream link to her.
Back in the training room, Lin Sumo opened his phone to watch Pei Yun’s stream. He happened to see Mother Lin asking Pei Yun how the food was over there.
Closing his phone, Lin Sumo started another game.
During preparation, the person who was supposed to be support took a long time to pick a hero. After a long wait, that person slowly typed a sentence: [Excuse me… can you let me play mage?]
Lin Sumo paused, thinking the other person might be a girl who liked playing mages, so he replied “Sure” in the team chat. Then he switched to Sona, preparing to play support himself for a relaxing game.
After the game started, Lin Sumo followed the marksman, protecting him from time to time.
Not long after, Lin Sumo discovered that his marksman was truly amazing!!
Four enemies came to surround them, and the two of them actually turned the tables and killed them all!
If it weren’t for the generic ID, Lin Sumo would almost suspect he was a pro player!!
From the mid-game onwards, Lin Sumo completely disregarded the fact that he was still streaming and followed his marksman the entire second half. He even disregarded his image to type “Brother ADC is so amazing” in the team chat. However, the marksman didn’t speak from beginning to end. Lin Sumo didn’t care and played however he needed to play.
Unsurprisingly, they practically steamrolled the opposition.
After the game finished, Lin Sumo returned to the stream interface.
βHe didn’t read comments while playing; usually, he would only go back to look after finishing a game.
As a result, he discovered that the direction of the bullet comments was a bit horrifying for him.
[Brother ADC is so amazing rofl]
[Idiot! That’s Print!!!]
[Help, a few days ago they had an 8000-word mismatch, now it’s…]
[Hiss… why do I suddenly feel these two are kinda ship-able?]
Lin Sumo looked at the comments: “……”
No way, hey…
The marksman just now was actually Pei Yun…
And I was chasing behind him the whole time…
Lin Sumo closed his eyes and covered his forehead, thinking he had no face left to see anyone.
But just moments into his self-imposed isolation, he looked up to see Pei Yun walking toward him. He hurriedly shrank back, trying to lower his presence. But it was not much use, because Pei Yun still plucked him out from behind the monitor.
Pei Yun: “You…”
Lin Sumo blushed and spoke quickly, “Sorry, my fault, I didn’t know it was you, won’t happen next time!!”
He could understand Pei Yun’s mood very well right now. After all, being called “Brother” and praised as “so amazing” by your mortal enemy was really weird and disgusting, okay!
Unexpectedly, Pei Yun frowned. “I didn’t say anything.”
Lin Sumo looked up blankly.
Pei Yun: “I wanted to say, you played support pretty well. How about another game?”
