Enemies on a Narrow Road [Esports] Chapter 13

Chapter 13 ◎ None of Your Business ◎

After enduring two hours of torture, Lin Sumo walked out of the cinema with the others as if relieved of a heavy burden. It was still early, so the group wandered around the mall for a few laps before finally suggesting going to KTV to sing for a while.

Originally, they didn’t want to let the two minors, Lin Sumo and Pei Yun, come along. But Lin Sumo insisted, using a combination of pestering and begging, and finally succeeded in dragging Pei Yun along with the others.

In the noisy private room, a teammate was singing with the microphone at the front, and several cans of alcohol sat on the table.

Lin Sumo reached out, preparing to grab a can of beer, when Pei Yun beside him suddenly pinned his hand down with quick eyes and hands.

Skin touched skin. Lin Sumo’s fingertips trembled. He looked up at him with slight dissatisfaction. “What are you doing?”

Pei Yun raised his eyes. “Minors can’t drink.”

“Tch,” Lin Sumo didn’t care at all. “You’re telling me this now?”

Before Pei Yun could speak, he interjected, “It’s not like I haven’t drunk before, and more than once.”

Pei Yun paused, then said, “Auntie asked me to keep an eye on you. If you want to drink, ask her yourself.”

Lin Sumo clicked his tongue. “You’re bossing me around? Who do you think you are? Even if I drink myself to death, it has nothing to do with you.”

Pei Yun suppressed his anger. “Yes, yes, yes, you’re amazing. Let whoever wants to manage you manage you.” With that, he went to the other side to play on his phone.

Lin Sumo huffed, grabbed the alcohol on the table, and downed it. Seeing this, Shen Chen walked over leisurely. “Little friend, drinking at such a young age.”

Lin Sumo glanced at him and asked in confusion, “Is there a problem?”

“Is there no problem?” Shen Chen asked back. “When I drank at nineteen, my dad almost beat me to death.”

“Huh?” Lin Sumo was shocked.

Shen Chen lamented a few more sentences before being dragged away by Yu Pei and Jiang He to sing together.

By the time they finished partying, it was already night. Several of them had drunk alcohol to some extent and couldn’t even walk steadily. The driver had already gotten off work, and it was hard to hail a taxi in this place. However, the hotel wasn’t far, so Pei Yun and Shen Chen—the only two still sober—had to support the swaying drunks back to the hotel.

Pei Yun dragged Lin Sumo, who had just said he wouldn’t let him manage him but was now delirious, his eyes full of mockery.

Crucially, this guy was a bad drunk. Right now, he was grabbing onto Pei Yun and babbling nonsense at him. Pei Yun got a headache from the noise and simply wanted to throw Lin Sumo onto the street to fend for himself.

At this moment, Pei Yun’s phone suddenly rang. He signaled Shen Chen to go ahead, stopping in place to take out his phone.

Pei Yun saw that Mother Lin was video calling him. He pressed answer and heard Mother Lin ask, “Eh, Little Pei, I couldn’t get through to Lin Sumo’s phone just now. Why didn’t I see you guys streaming today?”

Since that day, Mother Lin had developed a hobby of watching their livestream every night.

Pei Yun said, “We haven’t been at the base for the past two days; we’re in Ying’an for a match.”

“Oh, oh,” Mother Lin said. “Good luck with your match.”

Pei Yun: “We will, thank you, Auntie.”

Mother Lin asked again, “Are you guys outside? Is Little Lin there?”

Pei Yun’s mouth twitched. With quick reflexes, he grabbed Lin Sumo, who was about to bang his head against a utility pole, and turned the camera toward him.

Mother Lin frowned when she saw him. “Little Pei, what’s wrong with Lin Sumo?”

Pei Yun looked wooden. “Drank alcohol.”

Mother Lin: “Then you—”

“Couldn’t stop him,” Pei Yun interrupted Mother Lin expressionlessly.

“This little brat!” Mother Lin scolded angrily. “Wait until he sobers up and tell him, when he comes back, I’m going to beat him to death!”

Hearing this, Pei Yun smiled. “Okay.”

Hanging up the call, Pei Yun looked up to his side and suddenly frowned.

Why does it feel wrong…

Wait! Where is Lin Sumo?!

Pei Yun furrowed his brows, suddenly hearing a car honking on the street. He looked over and almost couldn’t catch his breath.

Fuck, why did this idiot run into the road?!

Pei Yun cursed silently, rushed over to Lin Sumo in two or three steps, dragged him back, and apologized to the driver who was still honking.

Pei Yun was furious with this guy. Grabbing Lin Sumo, he said in an unfriendly tone, “Can’t you save me some trouble?”

Lin Sumo had just drunk alcohol; his cheeks and nose were flushed. He blinked twice as if he didn’t understand. “Why… why are you grabbing me?”

Pei Yun: “……”

While wondering internally why he was bothering with a drunk, he said with a dark face, “From now on, you follow me. Don’t run around. Do. You. Hear. Me?”

Lin Sumo tilted his head. “Little Brother, why should I follow you?”

He asked, “Are you taking me to your home?”

Pei Yun: “……”

Pei Yun grabbed him and walked towards the hotel, answering perfunctorily, “Yes, yes, yes.”

Lin Sumo let himself be dragged, smiling from the bottom of his heart. “Okay… I like you the most…”

Pei Yun was almost struck down flat by this “I like you the most.”
