Enemies on a Narrow Road [Esports] Chapter 15-16

Chapter 15 ◎ I’ll Be the Dog ◎

Lin Sumo: “……”

With a face full of black lines, he pushed Pei Yun out of the room and shouted back at him, “Alright, alright, I’m going back to my room to wash up first. You go straight to the restaurant on the first floor later.” With that, he slammed the door shut, fleeing quickly from this place that made him cringe so hard his toes curled.

Watching Lin Sumo’s fleeing back, Pei Yun let out a low, inexplicable laugh, unsure why himself.

First floor restaurant of the hotel.

Pei Yun had just come down from upstairs carrying a small bag. After finding the rest of the team, he walked over and sat down.

They were eating and chatting. seeing him arrive, Song Hong said apologetically, “Sorry, Pei Yun. We drank too much last night and troubled you and Shen Chen to carry us back. Otherwise, we might have slept on the street.”

Pei Yun picked up a fried dough stick and smiled upon hearing this. “Small matter. But as adults… you should control your desires somewhat.”

Song Hong hurriedly agreed, sighing inwardly at being taught a lesson by a kid.

Unexpectedly, Lin Sumo beside him rolled his eyes. “Yo yo yo, you’re so mature, rushing to teach others your life philosophy.”

Pei Yun couldn’t be bothered to talk to him and lowered his head to eat his breakfast.

Shen Chen looked back and forth between them and finally couldn’t help asking, “So… what exactly happened with you two this morning?”

Lin Sumo immediately looked at his coach with resentful eyes.

Really, bringing up the one thing he shouldn’t.

Yu Pei asked with a confused face, “What happened? Did I miss something?”

“You missed a lot,” Shen Chen laughed. “I went to find Pei Yun just now, but when I opened the door, I saw Lin Sumo was actually in his room too.”

Seeing Yu Pei’s surprised expression, Shen Chen added, “The key is that Lin Sumo was pinning Pei Yun on the bed. I was stunned when I saw it, but Lin Sumo told me they were fighting. But you wouldn’t suddenly go to someone’s room early in the morning to fight them, right?”

Shen Chen’s last sentence was directed at Lin Sumo. Unfortunately, having blacked out last night, Lin Sumo remembered nothing; how would he know how to explain?

When Shen Chen turned to look at the other party involved, Pei Yun finally spoke helplessly. “I brought Lin Sumo back yesterday, but when we got to his door, we couldn’t find his room card. I couldn’t just throw him in the hallway. Since we booked standard rooms anyway, I took him to my room.”

Lin Sumo and the others suddenly understood.

Wait, he still had a question.

So Lin Sumo took out his phone, opened the chat interface with Pei Yun, and typed: [What’s wrong with you? Were you possessed?]

[Pei Yun]: [?]

Lin Sumo gritted his teeth looking at his reply, but still asked: [In the past, wouldn’t you genuinely throw me in the hallway without hesitation? Why did your character change this time?]

Pei Yun didn’t speak for a long while. Lin Sumo frowned. Just as he was about to spam him with messages, Pei Yun suddenly sent a screenshot of a chat.

Lin Sumo paused and opened the image.

With just one glance, he recognized it was a chat between Pei Yun and Mother Lin.

[Auntie Lin]: [Auntie knows you don’t get along well with Little Lin, but I still hope you can help him out more.]

[Auntie Lin]: [He’s like he never grew up, making people worry every day.]

[Auntie Lin]: [This really seems to be troubling you a bit.]

[Print]: [It’s nothing.]

[Auntie Lin]: [If it really doesn’t work, you can just treat it like raising a dog.]

[Print]: [Okay.]

Lin Sumo looked at the chat history in silence.

The next second, Pei Yun sent another message.

[Pei Yun]: [Integrity is the foundation of a person’s life.]

Lin Sumo: “……”

He considered for a moment, then finally asked: [So… you guys are treating me like a dog together?]

[Pei Yun]: [Mn.]

Lin Sumo: “……”

[Pei Yun]: [Being a dog or making Auntie worry, choose one yourself.]

[Lin Sumo]: [Fine… I’ll be the dog.]

Lin Sumo looked up strangely at Pei Yun, who was eating breakfast opposite him while holding his phone, and typed uncertainly: [If, I say if, I suddenly stopped arguing and bickering with you, what would you do?]

Pei Yun replied almost instantly: [Send you to a mental hospital.]

Lin Sumo turned off his phone in anger.

“Pei Yun, stop looking at your phone,” Song Hong reminded. “Everyone else too. We have a match this afternoon. After eating, go practice to warm up your hands.”

Pei Yun gave a ‘mn’ and calmly put away his phone.

Chapter 16 ◎ Really? I Don’t Believe It ◎

That afternoon, Trust vs. YH regular season match.

Game 1 of the BO3: Five minutes into the opening, YH’s mid-laner made a mistake. After Lin Sumo took the kill, YH started at a disadvantage and couldn’t turn it back until the end of the match.

Game 2: YH wanted to take the dragon to reverse the disadvantage but was ambushed by Trust, who had predicted it long ago. Not only did YH get the dragon stolen, but they were also wiped out by Trust, losing any possibility of a comeback.

In the end, Trust won against YH with a near-crushing score of 2:0.

Arriving at the post-game settlement screen, the ten players from both teams clearly saw that the MVP of this match was a player with the ID: Print.

Lin Sumo took off his large headset, rested his chin on his hand, and looked at Pei Yun with a smile. A sense of mischief rose inexplicably in his heart as he said, “Not bad, Brother Marksman.”

Pei Yun had just taken off his headset too. Hearing this, his face… almost turned green.

Lin Sumo glanced at the referee. After receiving permission, he walked over to Pei Yun. He leaned down close to Pei Yun. “Brother, didn’t I say I wanted to get along with you?”

Pei Yun frowned. “Not needed. Get lost.”

Lin Sumo couldn’t help laughing as he looked at him.

Said no arguing and bickering, didn’t say no being annoying and disgusting, right?

His thoughts were cunning and tricky, occupying his restless heart and spreading uncontrollably.

By the time he finally wanted to retract those not-so-innocent thoughts, the outcome was already irreversible.

However, what Lin Sumo didn’t expect was that his actions were recorded and posted online.

Lin Sumo looked at the video with clear audio and high-definition visuals, silent.

Of course, he wasn’t the only one silent.

—But Pei Yun was silent mainly out of anger.

So much so that as soon as they got to the base, while everyone else went to eat, he went upstairs alone to turn on his computer and play games.

Because he was alone, Pei Yun didn’t wear headphones. When Lin Sumo passed by his station after eating and going upstairs, he happened to catch him explaining to Mother Lin, who knew nothing about games, what MVP meant.

So he leaned directly in front of the screen and said earnestly to the camera, “Mom, MVP means the most amazing one in the whole game. It means our Pei Yun is the most amazing.”

Pei Yun’s complexion, which wasn’t great to begin with, became visibly darker.

Lin Sumo’s smile was sincere; even Mother Lin on the other side of the screen was stunned.

[Help help help Solve’s smile is killing me ahhhh]

[“Our Pei Yun”? What’s with this intimate tone?]

[The CP I ship is real howl howl howl!!]

Pei Yun couldn’t take it anymore. After greeting the fans in the livestream, he said to Lin Sumo in an unfriendly tone, “You, come with me.”

Lin Sumo raised his eyebrows, then followed him with an obedient face.

Pei Yun pulled Lin Sumo to the terrace at the end of the corridor and said straight to the point, “Please act like a normal person.”

Lin Sumo pretended not to understand. “What? Am I not a normal person?”

Pei Yun was almost dying of anger, practically gritting his teeth. “Are you? I said if you didn’t bicker every day I’d send you to a mental hospital, and now you pull this stunt. What, making people angry isn’t enough, now you want to disgust people?”

Lin Sumo admitted it crisply. “Yes, because it’s fun.”

Pei Yun: “……” Does this person really not get beaten up for being so shameless?

He could hardly comprehend Lin Sumo’s psychological state of having almost no shame.

A chisel cracked open his heart, revealing a dark hole filled with incomprehension.

Lin Sumo looked at him sideways. “I really don’t want to argue with you every day. Isn’t it good to be a bit more harmonious?”

He didn’t understand. He really didn’t understand.

Pei Yun sneered. “You staying far away would be the most harmonious.”

Lin Sumo looked up, staring straight at him. “Really? I don’t believe it.”

The evening wind blew over the two on the terrace. Pei Yun squinted, speechless for a moment.

Lin Sumo: “Pei Yun, do you really hate me that much?”

Pei Yun didn’t hesitate. “Yes.”

Lin Sumo spoke slowly. “Then… try liking me a little?”

Pei Yun didn’t expect him to say that and froze for a moment.

Their breaths entangled, pulling the threads deep in their hearts to entangle as well.

But they were cut by each other’s sharpness.

Lin Sumo felt he had nothing more to say to him, shrugged, and went back to the training room on his own.
