42 Chapter 42
◎ Dopamine ◎
Although there was a holiday after the regular season, it was only two days. The group couldn’t go anywhere too far, so they just wandered around nearby and came back.
Lin Sumo sat bored in his dorm chair, thinking about what to do.
Touching the game again was out of the question; facing the computer every day to play games, he didn’t lack this bit of time even if he wanted to play.
Uncontrollably, Lin Sumo thought of Pei Yun again.
What was he doing right now?
Lin Sumo picked up his phone, unlocked it, tapped on Pei Yun’s profile, and stared at the screen for half a minute until the phone automatically turned off.
Although they were together… why did it feel strangely awkward?
Lin Sumo fought with himself in his heart for two minutes, then opened his phone again.
Lin Sumo looked at the two big characters “Pei Yun” at the top of the phone; the more he looked, the less pleasing it was to the eye.
Speaking of which, shouldn’t he change his boyfriend’s contact name?
Lin Sumo suddenly felt enlightened. He tapped on Pei Yun’s avatar, went to the “Alias” field, and deleted the original two characters.
One minute passed.
Three minutes passed.
Lin Sumo: “……”
What to do.
He couldn’t think of anything.
Lin Sumo screamed internally but still couldn’t think of anything.
Finally, Lin Sumo gave up struggling, exited WeChat, and opened Baidu.
Lin Sumo cursed himself for being a mental patient while typing.
“What is a good contact name for a boyfriend?”
Five minutes later.
Lin Sumo put down the phone.
Looking at so many aliases on Baidu, he felt none of them were good.
Or rather, not suitable for Pei Yun.
Lin Sumo walked to the bedside, collapsed onto the bed, and closed his eyes to think of a name suitable for Pei Yun.
Another half minute passed. Lin Sumo opened his eyes and sat up from the bed.
Relying on his remaining knowledge reserve from high school biology, Lin Sumo typed a few characters on his phone.
Dopamine.
Staring at these characters for a long time, the more Lin Sumo looked, the more he felt this alias was quite good.
Dopamine, a chemical substance that helps cells transmit pulses, can transmit excitement, as well as happiness.
He transmits happiness to him.
Lin Sumo suddenly smiled.
In a sense, it really seemed to be the case.
Pressing “Confirm,” Lin Sumo finally typed to him: [What are you doing?]
The other side replied instantly.
Dopamine: [Not doing anything.]
Dopamine: [Playing on my phone.]
Dopamine: [Replying to your message.]
Solve: [……Can you be any more perfunctory?]
This time was different; the other side didn’t reply for a long time.
Lin Sumo typed a question mark to him.
Dopamine: [Didn’t you ask me to be more perfunctory?]
Lin Sumo: “……”
No, he actually couldn’t refute that.
Dopamine: [Teasing you.]
Dopamine: [I’m in the training room, want to come over?]
Lin Sumo replied with an “Okay,” then picked up his phone and left the dorm room.
Pushing open the training room door, Pei Yun was indeed inside, along with other teammates.
Lin Sumo looked confused. “Isn’t it a holiday? Why is everyone here so neatly?”
“No,” Jiang He wanted to laugh a little. “Can’t do anything in just two days, might as well come back to the training room to chat.”
“Yes,” Yu Pei nodded. “Manager Song wanted to go home and told us to go home too. I said we aren’t like him; we can’t even enter our house doors.”
Lin Sumo: “……”
“Oh right, seems like that doesn’t include you and Pei Yun,” he added. “But your homes are quite far from here, right? A round trip wouldn’t be enough time.”
“Indeed,” Lin Sumo said. “So we just stayed at the base.”
“I see,” Yu Pei suddenly looked at his chest area. “Eh, Little Mo-mo, that necklace of yours is quite nice. Where did you get it?”
Instantly, the entire training room except Pei Yun crowded over to look at the keycap hanging around Lin Sumo’s neck.
“Heavens,” Jiang He stared straight at it. “It looks good, just might make me look dark if I wear it. But speaking of which, why does this keycap look so familiar?”
“I think so too,” Yu Pei said. “Feels like this color is like Pei Yun’s set…”
Alarm bells instantly rang in Lin Sumo’s heart.
Over, it’s over. What excuse to use to fudge it?
“Ho-how is that possible,” Lin Sumo stuttered. “I bought it online… 9.9 RMB with free shipping, custom letters available!”
Teammates: “……”
Pei Yun: “……”
Pei Yun had just started streaming to fill his required hours. The fans in the livestream were dying of laughter; the bullet comments were full of ‘hahaha’.
Finally managing to fudge through it, the other teammates returned to their stations. Lin Sumo’s phone notification sound suddenly rang.
He took out his phone. Upon unlocking, it was the WeChat interface from just now, still lingering on his conversation with Pei Yun.
Coincidentally, Pei Yun was sitting next to him and saw the contact name at the top with one glance. “Dopamine? What does that mean?”
Lin Sumo instantly felt his whole body burning like fire. He stuttered, “Ah, no… not-nothing!”
“Really?” Pei Yun looked at him with a smile. “I remember you only just passed high school biology. Why suddenly set ‘Dopamine’ as a contact name?”
Lin Sumo’s face steamed red. “No, no, just typed randomly… stop asking…”
Pei Yun looked at Lin Sumo’s blushing face with interest and asked him, “So in your eyes, what do you see me as?”
Lin Sumo stared at Pei Yun; the flush on his face had spread to his neck. Opposite him, Pei Yun seemed to be teasing, a smile still playing on his lips.
Lin Sumo took a deep breath, stood up, and clicked Pei Yun’s mouse.
The stream’s microphone was turned off.
The fans were confused, typing question marks one after another.
Lin Sumo couldn’t care about that much. He leaned slightly close to Pei Yun’s ear, neither far nor near, his voice light and airy like a dandelion in the wind.
“You… are my unexpected heartbeat.”
Pei Yun was visibly stunned, taking more than ten seconds to react. After reacting, he smiled and clicked the mouse behind him again with his hand.
The microphone was turned back on.
“Lin-lin, do you know…” Pei Yun looked at him with a smile. “Many fans can read lips.”
Lin Sumo: “??!!”
He was completely thunderstruck. “No… You, why didn’t you say so earlier!”
Pei Yun spoke with a slightly regretful tone, “But Lin-lin, you didn’t seem to give me the chance.”
Although his tone carried regret, his words were hypocritical.
Lin Sumo: “……”
Lin Sumo stood there, wanting to speak but not knowing what to say. Saying something was wrong, saying nothing was also wrong. In the end, he could only drop a sentence, “I’m going to the bathroom,” and ran away.
Lin Sumo took his phone straight back to the dorm. Opening Pei Yun’s chat box, he unleashed a barrage of messages.
Solve: [Pei Yun, you really went too far!]
Solve: [Ahhhhhh why didn’t you say so earlier!]
Solve: [But I really didn’t expect the lip-reading thing…]
Solve: [Pei Yun!]
Solve: [Your boyfriend is going to be angry!]
Solve: [Just say if you’re going to coax me or not.]
The text on the chat box switched to “Typing…”, Lin Sumo waited for two seconds, waiting for the one word Pei Yun sent him.
