Chapter 24: The Supreme Leader’s Ministry Is Too Cool!
“What happened?” Guan Meihan asked hurriedly when she saw Ji Shuohan come down.
Ji Shuohan glanced at Shen Tingyuan, then said to Guan Meihan, “I have something to say to you.”
The two went to the back garden. Guan Meihan asked him, “What happened?”
“Why did you say those things to Ye Zhile?” Ji Shuohan got straight to the point. “You know perfectly well that I cannot marry anyone else.”
“Do you intend to guard one person for your whole life?” Guan Meihan didn’t understand.
“Yes,” Ji Shuohan said. “In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with this. Even if I don’t like Omegas, and even if Ye Zhile is here because of a transaction between the Ministry and the Military, since I married him, I have to be responsible for him. If you think I must marry others, you might as well think about whether your days were easy after Father married other wives.”
Guan Meihan was stunned. She hadn’t expected her usually silent and reticent son to say so much just to refute her for someone else’s sake, even mocking her days of scheming and fighting for favor in the Ji Manor. Her face was full of disbelief. “I did it all for you! How can you speak to Mom like that!”
Ji Shuohan remained expressionless, his words hitting the nail on the head. “Whether it was for your vanity to gain power or for me, you should know better than anyone.”
Ever since Ji Shouren married other wives, Guan Meihan thought about courting favor every day, specifically using her five-year-old son. Five-year-old Ji Shuohan was forced to learn chess, calligraphy, painting, and basic mech theory, even believing that Ji Shuohan was the only child qualified to inherit the position of Leader, sending him to military school early for tempering.
She didn’t care if her son was happy or tired; she only wanted the result.
She did all this just so Ji Shouren would praise her for being virtuous and teaching her son well, sacrificing small love for great love. And Ji Shuohan’s success allowed her to live a life of showing off power in the entire Ji Manor. Even after Ji Shuohan became the Supreme Leader, those wives had to speak to her humbly when they saw her. How majestic that was.
Rather than saying it was for him, it was better to say it was for her intense vanity.
Guan Meihan didn’t speak, gritting her teeth angrily. Ji Shuohan continued, “I hope you won’t stimulate Ye Zhile again in the future. You also know his father is the Minister of the Military. If Ye Zhile had gone home today, do you think Minister Ye would harbor a grudge in his heart?”
Ji Shuohan said no more to her. After a slight nod, he turned and left.
Guan Meihan wiped her tears and turned to go inside.
“Auntie.” Shen Tingyuan came forward, looking at Guan Meihan’s unwell complexion. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” Guan Meihan forced a smile. “Let’s go.”
“Then the marriage between me and Brother Shuohan…” Shen Tingyuan asked cautiously.
Guan Meihan held her hand and comforted her, “Little Yuan, you know your Brother Shuohan’s temper is stubborn and rigid. I’m afraid the marriage between you two is impossible.”
Shen Tingyuan lowered her eyes. “But I rejected so many people for Brother Shuohan. I only like Brother Shuohan…”
“Auntie knows,” Guan Meihan said. “But Shuohan said he won’t marry anyone else in this life. And… and Ye Zhile is Minister Ye’s son. Let alone the Supreme Leader’s Ministry, the entire Royal Family relies on the Military. We can’t offend them, right?”
Shen Tingyuan looked sad and nodded reluctantly. Guan Meihan smiled. “Good girl. There are plenty of rich and powerful men. Auntie will find you someone better than him!”
Shen Tingyuan didn’t speak. She glanced upstairs and left with Guan Meihan.
The dining table was exceptionally quiet the next day. Seeing Ye Zhile drinking milk silently, his small face written with worry, Ji Shuohan put down his knife and fork. “Why are you unhappy again?”
“I’m not…” Ye Zhile retorted in a whisper. After a while, he said quite regretfully, “Yesterday was the first time I met Mom, and I left her and went upstairs by myself. Was that bad?”
Ye Zhile felt it wasn’t good, but he felt very aggrieved and really couldn’t stay any longer. If he had stayed, looking aggrieved, no one would have been happy.
“No.” Ji Shuohan looked at him. “Ye Zhile, my relationship with my mother isn’t very good. You don’t need to be too constrained; just treat it normally.”
“Oh… okay.” Ye Zhile responded. So My Lord and his mother didn’t have a good relationship. No wonder they barely communicated yesterday; when his mother asked a question, My Lord answered with a sentence, very distant.
After breakfast, Ye Zhile lay on the dining table, looking eagerly at Ji Shuohan’s back as he put on his coat. Seeing him turn around, Ye Zhile quickly stood up. “What’s up?”
“Do you want to go to the Supreme Leader’s Ministry to take a look?” Ji Shuohan asked him. The Omega really looked like a lonely and helpless puppy.
Ye Zhile stood up and asked joyfully, “Can I?”
“You can.”
“Okay! Wait for me a moment, My Lord. I’ll change clothes and come down!” Ye Zhile rushed upstairs and then rushed back down, standing in front of Ji Shuohan. “Let’s go!”
The teenager wore a brown zippered hoodie, complementing his chestnut-brown hair. His skin was snowy white and flawless, looking exceptionally bright and brilliant.
Ji Shuohan looked away. “Let’s go.”
Ye Zhile didn’t have classes until tomorrow afternoon. He was originally wondering whether to stay home today or ask Xingtu to hang out. Now it was great; My Lord actually thought of taking him to see the Supreme Leader’s Ministry!
Ye Zhile was very excited along the way. He had seen the Military and Political buildings, but never the Supreme Leader’s Ministry. It was said that the Ministry had a long history, and many leaders had spent their long remaining years there.
The Supreme Leader’s Ministry stood in an open space, miles away from residents. It was a skyscraper towering into the clouds. The exterior was like a cloud ladder, and the topmost block looked majestic, full of metallic technological sense, completely opaque from the outside.
Soldiers guarded all around, and there were many vehicles entering and leaving. Everyone looked unsmiling, acting seriously and earnestly. Ye Zhile looked up and silently sighed: This is too cool!
Ji Shuohan was escorted into the lobby surrounded by people. Ye Zhile followed by his side. He looked calm on the surface, but inside he was excited!
The Supreme Leader’s Ministry is just too spectacular!
Full of technological sense, plus the Ministry building was extremely quiet, making Ye Zhile feel it was a very serious kind of cool!
The subordinate officials of the Ministry were very curious about the little thing beside the Supreme Leader, but seeing the Leader had no intention of introducing him, they dared not guess randomly.
Taking the elevator all the way to the top floor, Ye Zhile stood obediently beside Ji Shuohan. The people around him were Alphas taller and stronger than him, looking tough to mess with, like soldiers in full battle array waiting for orders.
Out of the elevator was a long corridor. The group followed the Leader silently until they stopped in front of a conference room. Ji Shuohan turned around. “I need to have a meeting. I’ll have Adjutant Wei show you around.”
“Okay.” Ye Zhile agreed readily.
Ji Shuohan gave Wei Xichu a look, then walked into the conference room.
Wei Xichu nodded. “Young Master Ye, I’ll take you to visit the Interstellar Observatory.”
“Okay!” Ye Zhile said.
Ye Zhile turned back and saw several officers in military uniforms walking solemnly into the conference room just now. He turned back and asked, “Is he this busy every day?”
Wei Xichu nodded. “Just about.”
Ye Zhile nodded in understanding.
