Chapter 35: The Leader’s Madam Has a Fiery Temper
Ye Zhile returned home. No one was in the living room, and he didn’t know if anyone was in the study.
Ye Zhile knocked on the door, and an “Enter” came from inside.
Ye Zhile opened the door and went in. Ji Shuohan looked up. “Something the matter?”
“Does My Lord have time tomorrow?” Ye Zhile walked in. Under Ji Shuohan’s questioning gaze, he said, “Tomorrow is our freshman ceremony. I participated in a play, and I want to invite My Lord to watch.”
“What time tomorrow?” Ji Shuohan asked him. Ye Zhile said, “Tomorrow afternoon.”
Ji Shuohan was silent for a moment. Finally, he said, “We’ll see tomorrow; I might not necessarily have time.”
“Oh…” Ye Zhile nodded in disappointment. “Goodnight, My Lord.”
Ye Zhile returned to his room desolately. He seemed very exhausted, sighed deeply, got up to take a shower, and fell asleep immediately.
However, this sleep wasn’t very good. Ye Zhile had a nightmare. He dreamed that the mech piloted by his father was struck by an enemy mech during the great war with the Federation, ending in the destruction of the mech and death.
He heard his Dad’s heart-wrenching cries. The smoke of the battlefield rose everywhere, and countless mechs traversed the boundless universe…
Ye Zhile woke up with a start. He was sweating profusely, the corners of his eyes full of tears. He hurriedly took out his phone and dialed that number that couldn’t be reached again. Like before, the call didn’t go through.
Ye Zhile’s eyes were blurred by tears, which dripped onto the phone screen. He dialed the number again and again, trembling.
Just then, Ye Zhile’s door opened. He looked up and saw Ji Shuohan standing at the door. Ji Shuohan walked in and saw the tears on the Omega’s face, looking at him with pitiful and sorrowful eyes.
Ji Shuohan’s heart felt as if a thorn had pierced it. He sat by the bed, wanting to touch him, but Ye Zhile dodged. Tears fell down as he clutched the phone. “I can’t get through to my father’s phone…”
“The signal over there isn’t good…”
“I dreamed my father had an accident…” Ye Zhile had a thick nasal sound. “I’m so sad…”
Ye Zhile’s tears fell one by one, smashing onto Ji Shuohan’s heart. He comforted softly, “Zhile, the Empire and the Federation haven’t started fighting yet. Today is the second negotiation. Your Father and Dad are both very well.”
Ye Zhile seemed not to hear his words. He muttered to himself, “I’m unhappy… I want to go home…”
Ji Shuohan was suddenly stunned. He still remembered promising Ye Junting that he would take care of Ye Zhile for a lifetime and protect him. But now, he seemed to have let this Omega, who trusted and relied on him wholeheartedly, suffer grievances…
“Ye Zhile…” Ji Shuohan held him in his arms, his large hand landing on the Omega’s thin and frail back. He said heavily, “I’m sorry.”
Ye Zhile nestled in his arms, clutching the corner of Ji Shuohan’s clothes, sobbing softly.
Ji Shuohan felt unpleasant in his heart. He stroked the Omega’s head, rubbing gently.
Ye Zhile’s emotions gradually calmed down. When Ji Shuohan laid him down to sleep and covered him with the quilt, Ye Zhile grabbed his hand, looking at him stubbornly. “Stay with me…”
“Mn, I’ll stay with you. Sleep,” Ji Shuohan held his hand back. Ye Zhile’s hand was much smaller than his, feeling like holding soft jade, making his heart feel numb and tingly.
Ye Zhile closed his eyes and fell asleep very quickly.
Ji Shuohan truly didn’t move, staying by his side just like that. He looked at the Omega’s sleeping face; the eyelashes were long and thick, hanging with tears that hadn’t dried yet. Because his cheek was slightly turned, a small lump of soft flesh was squeezed out, and his lips pouted unconsciously.
Guided by supernatural forces, he reached out his hand, his thumb wiping away the tear at the corner of the teenager’s eye. The soft touch made his heart soften uncontrollably.
It wasn’t until dawn broke the next day that the man got up and left.
At the opening ceremony, students filled the auditorium. Backstage, students were putting on makeup and preparing to go on stage.
Ye Zhile took several deep breaths to make himself less nervous. Leng Xingtu patted his shoulder. “Don’t be nervous! Just treat the audience below as air.”
“Are you guys not nervous?” Ye Zhile asked Leng Xingtu and Lu Xingyan. Leng Xingtu was dismissive. “What is this? This Young Master is already used to their admiration.”
Lu Xingyan shook his head. “I think it’s okay. Actually, the audience only has two feelings about what’s on stage: one is good-looking, one is ugly. Awkwardness… unless you make a fool of yourself, they won’t feel that way.”
Ye Zhile nodded. “Okay.”
When it was Ye Zhile’s group’s turn to appear, the applause was enthusiastic. The stage had all kinds of props. After the performance started, the whole venue quieted down, and all lights converged on the stage.
As the plot got better, the students watched with increasing engagement. Zhu Yu was blocked in the toilet by someone, and everyone held their breath for him.
“Asking you to let me copy during the exam! You damn dare not to listen!” Jiang Lin choked Zhu Yu’s neck, speaking viciously. Suddenly, Jiang Lin got up and kicked him fiercely. “Zhu Yu, you’ve got guts, huh?”
At this moment, Ji Shuohan, watching from backstage, saw Lu Xingyan’s kick and couldn’t help frowning. His gaze fell on that small figure on the ground, seeing him hiding in the corner shivering.
The bully punched and kicked the victim, insulting the victim verbally.
The teenager on stage captured the demeanor facing a bully very well. There was some stubbornness and refusal to yield, but more of it was fear plus the despair of being bullied time and again. That thin back being pushed around, and the final heart as dead as ash, made everyone present hold their breath.
The teenager was like a dead leaf butterfly, falling from the high platform…
With the depth of the plot, the bystander’s fear and cowardice, as well as the bully’s arrogance and lack of repentance, prevented the unjustly dead teenager from being vindicated. At the school gate were the parents’ cries, and each cry made the students unable to stop shedding tears.
This play had a twist. Perhaps to present a brave side, Chen Ke, played by Leng Xingtu, ultimately couldn’t withstand the torture of his heart and exposed everything to the police, followed by a major cleanup of everything in the school…
Although the ending was good, the audience still felt pity for the bullied teenager. After the play ended, the whole venue applauded. The members of the drama troupe bowed one after another and went offstage.
Ye Zhile went down to the backstage. He was just preparing to remove his makeup and change out of his costume, but after walking only two steps, he met someone he didn’t expect.
“My Lord?” Ye Zhile walked forward quickly. He smiled, “I thought My Lord wouldn’t come.”
Ji Shuohan held a bouquet of yellow roses. He seemed a bit awkward, handing them to Ye Zhile with stiff hands. “Performed very well.”
Ye Zhile accepted them. “Thank you, My Lord.”
The two looked at each other. Ye Zhile laughed. “Is this a surprise from My Lord?”
“Mn.” Ji Shuohan nodded.
Ye Zhile looked at the roses. “Beautiful!”
On the way home, the teenager’s eyes were full of joy. He held the roses, unable to put them down. The sweetness of freesia unconsciously emanated. Ji Shuohan looked at the teenager. Feeling the sweet pheromones in the air, he frowned slightly and unconsciously released pheromones to comfort him.
Ye Zhile put the roses in a vase and placed them at his bedside. He sat on the bed looking at them, suddenly interrupted by the phone ringing. He picked it up and froze.
After a good while, Ye Zhile connected.
“Lele…” Lin Yang’s voice on the other end choked with sobs. “Sorry…”
“You…” Ye Zhile didn’t know what to say. He said muffledly, “What are you crying for? I didn’t even cry when you said that about me.”
After saying this, the crying on the other end got louder. “Sorry Lele, I shouldn’t have said that about you. It was my fault.”
Ye Zhile let out a breath. “You don’t need to apologize to me. Neither of us owes the other anything.”
“No, Lele, I know I was wrong. My vanity was too strong; I wanted to beat you in everything, and I hurt you.” Lin Yang cried. “Lele, I know I was wrong. I know you were very good to me. I shouldn’t have misunderstood you like that. Forgive me, Lele.”
“Yangyang…” Ye Zhile played with the corner of his clothes, weighing his words. “This isn’t a matter of forgiving or not. We, we can’t go back to before either…”
Ye Zhile thought angrily, In the past, Yangyang also thought of me that way; he wasn’t sincerely good to me at all…
“And, I have a grudge in my heart! You treated me like that!” Ye Zhile was huffing with anger.
The other end was silent for a moment, only the sound of Lin Yang sniffing could be heard. “Lele, come out, okay? I’ll make amends and apologize to you. You can do whatever you want! Hit me or scold me!”
“No, I don’t want to come out.” Ye Zhile refused.
“Lele, do you really not miss our high school days at all? Have you forgotten how close the three of us were?” Lin Yang said. “And Brother Xingyan will also come. Shall we three talk together?”
Taking advantage of Ye Zhile’s hesitation, Lin Yang said again, “Lele, just come over. Give me one more chance, okay?”
Finally, under Lin Yang’s pleading, Ye Zhile agreed.
When he went downstairs, Ji Shuohan was brewing coffee. Ye Zhile moved lightly, planning to sneak out while no one was paying attention. But just as he reached the door, a voice came from behind, “Where are you going?”
Ye Zhile turned around. He gave a ‘hehe’ laugh, feeling extremely guilty. “I’m going to find a friend.”
Ji Shuohan looked outside. “It’s getting dark.”
“I know, I’ll be back very soon.” Ye Zhile didn’t intend to say much to Ji Shuohan. He ran off in a flash. “I’m going out first; don’t wait for me for dinner!”
Ji Shuohan held the coffee, watching the person disappear.
Seeing a friend? That one named Lu Xingyan?
Ye Zhile arrived at the location Lin Yang gave him, but when he saw the sign, he was confused.
Bar?
Ye Zhile was just about to turn and leave, planning to call Lin Yang to say he wasn’t going, but before he could take out his phone, Lin Yang walked over and put his arm around him, showing intimacy as if no one else was around. “Lele, you finally came.”
Ye Zhile froze. Among the three of them, Lin Yang belonged to the introverted type. Most of the time he wouldn’t boldly express his needs and wants, often being the most silent one. Whereas Ye Zhile was the liveliest and sweetest-talking of the three. When he wanted to be closer to Lin Yang, Lin Yang would show some aversion. Ye Zhile used to think Lin Yang just didn’t like physical contact with others.
Now he knew, he simply had an issue with him and didn’t like contact with him.
Ye Zhile forced a smile. “I don’t want to go to a bar. We can find a coffee shop to talk.”
“Aiya, what are you afraid of? Brother Xingyan will be here soon. If you’re scared, we’ll go in after he comes.” Lin Yang didn’t think much of it. “Besides, my friends are all inside. It’s not good for me to leave now.”
Ye Zhile took a deep breath, wanted to say something but ultimately didn’t. Forget it, one last time.
Only when Lu Xingyan arrived did the three enter the bar. Ye Zhile had never been to this kind of place since childhood. Watching the men and women swaying their bodies on the dance floor, his face heated up. Seeing the DJ up there wearing just a bikini, he was simply too shy to look up.
At this moment, Lu Xingyan beside him laughed out loud. However, he quickly became serious again. While Lin Yang walked in front, he grabbed Ye Zhile’s hand and asked him, “What are you doing here?”
“Yangyang said he wanted to talk to me. I didn’t know he was bringing me here.” Ye Zhile was helpless. “Then why did you come?”
Lu Xingyan wanted to say, naturally because Lin Yang said Ye Zhile was coming, so he tagged along. Otherwise, he wouldn’t come out to see Lin Yang.
“I… I was worried.” Lu Xingyan steeled himself and said it straightforwardly.
Ye Zhile smiled. “Worried about me?”
“Otherwise?” Lu Xingyan raised his eyebrow. Ye Zhile patted his shoulder. “Good brother.”
“…” Lu Xingyan was speechless. Who treats you as a brother!
Lin Yang took the two to a luxurious extra-large private room. Seven or eight people had already arrived inside. Ye Zhile found a few somewhat familiar; they were the people he saw at the restaurant last time.
Ye Zhile didn’t have a good impression of them. He unconsciously stood behind Lu Xingyan. Lu Xingyan thought he was afraid. “Don’t be afraid.”
“Not afraid…” Ye Zhile whispered. It was just that the way they looked at him was annoying. Ye Zhile pulled Lin Yang. “Just say whatever you want to say directly. I don’t want to be here.”
“Lele, are you still unwilling to forgive me?” Lin Yang pretended to be pitiful. “I just wanted to call you out to play and ease our relationship.”
Ye Zhile was rendered speechless by Lin Yang’s words. Lu Xingyan lowered his eyes and looked at Lin Yang unkindly. “You better not be up to any tricks.”
“Brother Xingyan, am I that kind of person in your eyes?” Lin Yang leaned close to Lu Xingyan. “You like Lele so much; how would I hurt him?”
Lin Yang smiled, ignoring the embarrassment on Lu Xingyan’s face. He pulled Ye Zhile into the crowd. Recently Ye Zhile became famous on the Star Net. Everyone knew the Supreme Leader’s marriage partner was the youngest son of the Minister of the Military—rich, powerful, and a perfect match. So there were many people rushing to curry favor.
“Young Master Ye, you really are low-key. Even Lin Yang didn’t know your identity.” The speaker was Xu Zicheng, that Omega.
Ye Zhile didn’t like him much either. He whispered a sentence, “None of your business.”
Everyone heard this, but knowing Ye Zhile’s identity, they dared not say much. Unfortunately, Xu Zicheng, who was used as the gun, turned bright red, his hand gripping the wine glass tightly in anger.
“Hahaha… The Leader’s Madam has a feisty temper; couldn’t tell at all.” An Alpha who had been staring at Ye Zhile let his gaze wander over him.
Ye Zhile might have been influenced by Leng Xingtu. Hearing this, he said directly, “Knowing I am the Leader’s Madam, you still look at me with those eyes?”
That Alpha’s face stiffened, and he turned his head resentfully.
Lu Xingyan was worried just now that Ye Zhile would get hurt. Now it seemed he worried too much. This guy played with Leng Xingtu so much, he was bound to learn a move or two sooner or later.
