Chapter 49: Sleep, Baby
Ye Zhile was completely stunned. The last kiss had occurred when the adult was not in his right mind during his rut, but this time, both of them were entirely clear-headed.
The gentle kiss lasted for about two or three seconds before ending. Ye Zhile’s face flushed a deep red. He raised his eyes to look at Ji Shuohan, and Ji Shuohan also looked down at him. It felt as if something had gathered together through their gazes, leaving everything understood without words…
On the fifth day of Ye Zhile’s infection, following his final high fever, good news arrived. The Pheromone Testing Center had developed the antidote for the KB virus. The antidote was distributed to various regions for production immediately.
Ji Shuohan gave it to Ye Zhile at the very first opportunity. After Ye Zhile took it, he spent the entire day observing his condition, keeping his eyes glued to him, terrified of missing any reaction that might cause him harm.
However, for the entire day after taking the antidote, Ye Zhile experienced no muscle soreness or high fever. Even his pheromone instability vanished, and his energy improved significantly.
One week after the antidote was developed, the entire Empire lifted the lockdown, and the nation celebrated. Ye Zhile started bouncing around actively again. Ever since that kiss, the relationship between the two had undergone a dramatic change. For instance, Ye Zhile became much clingier and more unbridled in front of the Supreme Leader.
On the first day the lockdown was lifted, Ji Shuohan was heading to the Supreme Leader’s Ministry. Ye Zhile flew down the stairs, threw himself into his arms, and smiled sweetly. “I’ll miss My Lord today.”
It had to be said, Ye Zhile had a pure but straightforward personality. He was alluring without realizing it. Once they truly became close, his various ways of acting coquettishly and playing cute came naturally and effortlessly.
Ji Shuohan was twelve years older than him and completely unable to resist the Omega’s obedience. He rubbed his head. “Okay.”
“Eh?” Ye Zhile held onto him. “My Lord forgot something.”
Ji Shuohan paused for a moment, then realized, and planted a kiss on the Omega’s forehead.
Ye Zhile smiled sweetly and waved his hand. “Goodbye, My Lord.”
“Mn, goodbye.” Ji Shuohan thought it was better for him to be lively. The listless state he was in a few days ago was truly anxiety-inducing.
On the first day of the lockdown lifting, Ye Zhile called Leng Xingtu to invite him over to play. Upon asking, he found out that Leng Xingtu had also been infected with the virus and had been recuperating at home all these days.
Leng Xingtu came to the Leader’s Manor, and the two commiserated. Leng Xingtu complained, “You don’t know, I drank porridge every day until I almost threw up.”
“Me too,” Ye Zhile echoed. However, he then added sweetly, “But my porridge was all made by My Lord, hehe…”
“…” Leng Xingtu’s face darkened. “Give me a break!”
After the lockdown was lifted, the servants of the Leader’s Manor also returned. Ye Zhile took Leng Xingtu for a stroll around the manor. Finally, the two sat by the pond feeding the fish, chatting about random things until the wind blew too cold, and they went back indoors.
Although Ye Zhile could go out, considering his identity was too eye-catching, he rarely went out even after the lockdown. However, he didn’t find it boring either, finding things to do for himself, like learning how to cook.
Ye Zhile liked making pastries, so he learned from the auntie in the kitchen. Just as he finished making pineapple pastry cakes, Ji Shuohan happened to return from work. He immediately brought them over. “Would My Lord like to try?”
Ji Shuohan took a look. The pastries were shaped like pineapples, cut into small pieces. He picked one up and took a bite. Under the Omega’s expectant gaze, he nodded. “Delicious. Did you make this?”
“Mn!” Ye Zhile responded excitedly, though feeling it wasn’t entirely accurate. “The auntie taught me. She helped me knead the dough, but I made the molds myself, hehe~”
“Not bad.” Ji Shuohan ate the whole piece. Ye Zhile boasted shamelessly, “I’m quite talented.”
Seeing his smug little look, Ji Shuohan smiled faintly.
After Ye Zhile came out of the shower, Ji Shuohan was leaning against the headboard reading a book. He climbed onto the bed, sat on his knees beside Ji Shuohan, and asked, “When will My Lord have time?”
“What’s wrong?” Ji Shuohan turned a page. Ye Zhile said, “Xingtu said we haven’t relaxed in a long time and wants everyone to go to the hot springs together.”
Ji Shuohan pondered for a moment and replied, “Wait until the New Year holidays. It’s almost New Year.”
Mentioning this, Ye Zhile finally remembered. “Oh right! It’s almost New Year! Everyone will have time then!”
The Omega was very excited; it seemed he had been bored staying at home. Ji Shuohan opened his arm, and Ye Zhile leaned into his embrace to read the book with him.
However, the Supreme Leader was reading military theory. The text was densely packed, making Ye Zhile dizzy. He simply gave up, closed his eyes, and fell asleep in no time.
Feeling the movements of the person in his arms lessen, Ji Shuohan put down the book, turned off the light, and embraced him to sleep.
Since Ye Zhile’s winter break began, he had stayed in the Leader’s Manor, either learning to make pastries or studying in the study. Perhaps because the New Year holidays were approaching, the Supreme Leader was also very busy, sometimes returning home in the early hours of the morning.
Ye Zhile opened his eyes. The room was dim, but he still saw a vast expanse of white drifting by the window. He asked, “Is it snowing?”
“Mn.” Ji Shuohan was just coming out of the bathroom. He dried his hair and got into bed. “Did I wake you?”
Ye Zhile let out a yawn and muttered, “Mn, I felt your pheromones.”
After Ji Shuohan lay down, Ye Zhile burrowed into his arms, shivering. “So cold…”
Ji Shuohan teased him, “The heater is on, and you’re still cold? Taking advantage of me?”
Ye Zhile’s face flushed hot. He gave an angry “hmph” and turned around, pointing the back of his indignant head at Ji Shuohan.
Ji Shuohan’s heart truly softened into a puddle from Ye Zhile’s cuteness. He forcefully turned the Omega around and pulled him into his embrace, stroking the person struggling in his arms. He kissed his ear, his deep voice enchanting by his ear, “Sleep, baby.”
Now Ye Zhile was completely quiet…
He felt so hot, hot enough to explode! My Lord actually called him baby?
Well… it seemed… quite sweet…
The next day, Ye Zhile woke up at almost the exact same time as Ji Shuohan. He rubbed his eyes, got up, and then got out of bed to walk into the bathroom.
“Not sleeping anymore?” Ji Shuohan asked him.
“I want to see the snow…” Ye Zhile looked up.
“The snow isn’t going to melt,” Ji Shuohan said.
Ye Zhile shook his head. He blinked, barely waking up a bit more, his eyes curving into crescents. “I want to watch the snow with My Lord.”
Ji Shuohan paused. He turned around, put thick clothes on him, put on his hat, and led him downstairs by the hand.
Outside, it was a vast expanse of white, and it was still snowing. Ye Zhile stood at the main gate and watched for a while, then pulled Ji Shuohan to stand in the snow. His eyes were bright as he smiled, “Like this, we can be considered to have reached a white head together! Haha!”
Ji Shuohan didn’t speak. He stared at Ye Zhile, then leaned down and devoutly kissed his lips.
Translator’s Note: Reaching a “white head” together (到白头) refers to growing old together. Standing in the snow makes their heads literally white, acting as a sweet pun.
