Chapter 60: Missing
Ye Zhijin stayed in the Intensive Care Unit for a week before coming out, completely out of life-threatening danger, and was transferred to a private ward. Ye Zhile came over after class. On this day, he coincidentally arrived just as his Big Brother woke up.
Ye Zhile was both surprised and overjoyed, hastily calling the doctor over. After a final examination, he was informed that Ye Zhijin’s body had no major issues anymore; the next step was just staying in the hospital to recover his wounds.
Ye Zhile wept tears of joy, sitting by Ye Zhijin’s bed. Ye Zhijin couldn’t move yet. Seeing his younger brother crying, he reached out to hold his hand, telling him by mouthing the words: I’m fine.
Ye Zhile held back his tears and nodded. Not long after, Wen Yumo and Ye Junting also arrived. Seeing Ye Zhijin awake, they were overjoyed.
“It’s good that you’re awake.” Wen Yumo held Ye Zhijin’s hand, tears glimmering in his eyes. “You scared us to death.”
Wearing an oxygen mask, Ye Zhijin merely curled his lips upon hearing this.
Ye Zhile came to accompany his Big Brother whenever he had free time. Once Ye Zhijin could speak and move, he kept his Big Brother company, chatting and watching TV.
“Why do you keep spacing out?” Ye Zhijin reached out and waved his hand in front of his eyes. “You drift off right in the middle of chatting.”
Ye Zhile snapped back to reality. “I want to know how Second Brother and My Lord are doing right now.”
“When I had my accident, your Second Brother still contacted me. Everything is fine on his end.” Ye Zhijin hesitated to speak. Under Ye Zhile’s expectant gaze, he said, “The Supreme Leader couldn’t be contacted by us. His interstellar cabin is too far away from ours.”
The light in Ye Zhile’s eyes vanished. Hearing this, he merely nodded and said no more.
Just as Ye Zhile was wondering how to pass the upcoming time, an interrupting news broadcast caught the attention of both of them.
“We are now interrupting with an urgent news report. The cabin traveled by the Supreme Leader and the commander of the First Legion was just attacked by a Rhea Star missile… The cabin exploded in the space station. Currently, the Supreme Leader and the other personnel on board are missing. Several remains have already been found… The Supreme Leader’s Ministry, the Military Department, and the Political Department have already taken emergency measures…”
Ye Zhile stared blankly at the footage of the cabin exploding, instantly tearing into pieces and shooting fire in all directions in interstellar space…
“Lele…” Ye Zhijin hurriedly covered his eyes. Ye Zhile felt as if his entire body had plunged into an ice cellar. He forcefully pulled Ye Zhijin’s hand down, his heart panicking to the point of exploding. His lips trembled. “It’s not like this, it’s fake…”
Ye Zhile lost his head out of fear. He stood up in a panic. “I-I…”
“Lele!” Ye Zhijin grabbed Ye Zhile, who was about to dash out. Ye Zhile struggled, on the verge of collapsing. “Ah!!!”
“Impossible! This is impossible! Brother!” Ye Zhile roared, completely losing control. Large teardrops fell down. Immediately after, a sharp pain struck his abdomen. Ye Zhile’s breathing hitched. He bent over in agony and completely lost consciousness.
“Lele!” Ye Zhijin hastily scooped him up and pressed the call bell.
When Wen Yumo saw the news, the first thing he thought of was Ye Zhile, so he hurried towards the hospital, but still witnessed a terrible scene. Waiting in front of the emergency room with Ye Zhijin, he ultimately couldn’t hold back his tears.
“Dad…” Ye Zhijin wrapped his arm around Wen Yumo’s shoulders. “Lele will be fine, don’t worry.”
Wen Yumo wiped away his tears and asked him, “When is Xiao Chen coming back?”
“Probably soon. With the Supreme Leader having an accident, if there’s no ceasefire, I’m afraid Rhea Star will become even more unbridled,” Ye Zhijin said.
Wen Yumo understood and didn’t say anything more.
A long time passed before the doctor came out, looking troubled. Seeing this made Wen Yumo’s heart clench. “Doctor, how is my son?”
“The patient’s husband is an Enigma?” the doctor asked.
“Yes.”
The doctor shook his head and said, “Logically speaking, a Top-tier Omega should be matched with a Top-tier Alpha. He is currently severely lacking in pheromones and can only be sent to a sterile isolation room and nourished with Top-tier Alpha pheromones, otherwise, his life will be in danger.”
After the doctor finished speaking, he left, leaving the two of them standing frozen in place.
Ye Zhile was transferred to a ward. His face was pale, his frame thin and frail, sleeping quietly. Wen Yumo looked at him and finally spoke, “We shouldn’t have let them get married back then.”
“Lele should have lived a peaceful and warm life, not these days filled with fear and trembling.” Wen Yumo said with remorse, “Even if your Father and I died out there, we shouldn’t have let him marry.”
“Dad…” Ye Zhijin’s eyes grew moist.
Wen Yumo wiped his tears dry. “Is there any news from over there? What did your Father say?”
“The Supreme Leader is missing, his whereabouts unknown. The other accompanying personnel were blown up and killed in the explosion…” Ye Zhijin said.
Wen Yumo sighed deeply, and the ward fell into silence.
At this moment, the person on the hospital bed whimpered, painfully waking up alive. Ye Zhile reflexively arched his body, feeling as if his whole body was being pricked by needles. He tightly clutched the blanket.
“Lele!” Wen Yumo leaned over. “Where are you feeling unwell?”
Ye Zhile opened his eyes. His lips were pale, and he asked weakly, “Where is My Lord?”
Wen Yumo and Ye Zhijin both remained silent. Ye Zhile’s heart twisted in agony. He buried himself in the blanket, wanting to scream and shout, wanting to vent all the unhappiness in his heart. But Ye Zhile seemed to have lost all his strength, not even having the energy to gasp for breath.
“Lele.” Wen Yumo called him softly. He pulled back Ye Zhile’s blanket and looked at that sickly face.
Ye Zhile had no reaction, as if he had become a fool. Finally, he spoke up, “Dad, I want to stay by myself for a while.”
“Okay.” Wen Yumo also understood that the events that happened today needed time to digest. Finally, he said, “Lele, they didn’t find the Supreme Leader’s remains in the cabin. The Supreme Leader is missing, but this means the Supreme Leader is fine. So, think more positively, okay?”
Ye Zhile nodded numbly. Wen Yumo and Ye Zhijin walked out.
The room was frighteningly quiet. Ye Zhile sat leaning against the headboard, his eyes red and swollen. His mind was currently a complete mess. Compared to the intense crying and shouting just now, he was much too calm now, but it was a terrifying calmness—lifeless, without a single trace of vitality to be felt.
