EO Romance: The Supreme Leader Is About to Enter the Crematorium Chapter 63

Chapter 63: Happy Birthday

“The patient’s physical condition is much better than it was a few months ago, but we cannot be careless. Try to keep him away from the pheromones of other Alphas as much as possible. As for family members, you can use your pheromones appropriately to soothe his discomfort. Combined with medical treatment, it will be effective for his recovery,” the doctor said after completing Ye Zhile’s check-up.

After the doctor left, Xiao Yuanqing teased, “It seems I won’t be able to visit often.”

“It’s alright. Brother Yuanqing can come whenever he wants,” Ye Zhile said.

Ye Zhile’s current state was quite good. His complexion was much rosier than before, and he could eat again, which was enough to put everyone’s mind at ease.

However, this state didn’t last long. He barely scraped by each day relying on his family’s pheromones. In the blink of an eye, it was Ye Zhile’s birthday.

In all his years, this was the first time he was spending his birthday in a hospital. Ye Zhile sat on the bed, watching everyone decorate the room for the celebration. Ye Zhijin and Xiao Yuanqing worked together in silence, one blowing up balloons while the other tied them. Ye Zhichen and Leng Xingtu, those two troublemakers, didn’t forget to bicker even while working.

Ye Zhile couldn’t help but smile. He looked at the bright sunshine outside the window and listened to the laughter in the room. If My Lord were here, his birthday would have no regrets.

Ye Zhile was grateful that his body was usually exhausted and in a state of deep sleep, making time pass quickly and reducing the pain of missing his Lord.

Once the decorations were finished, everyone busied themselves in the kitchen to prepare dinner, even making a rich nutritional meal for Ye Zhile. Finally, Ye Zhijin carried Ye Zhile to the dining table so he could eat with everyone.

As Ye Zhile ate his specialized meal, Wen Yumo ladled a bowl of soup for him. “Eat more. Drink this bowl of soup when you’re finished.”

Ye Zhile swallowed his food and shook his head. “I can’t drink any more.”

“Then finish all of your nutritional meal,” Wen Yumo compromised.

Ye Zhile didn’t dare resist. He looked toward his second brother. Ye Zhichen understood the signal; while Wen Yumo wasn’t looking, his chopsticks reached for the food in front of Ye Zhile and quickly moved some into his own bowl.

“Why are you eating Lele’s nutritional meal?” Ye Junting glared at him.

“I just wanted to see how it tastes.” Ye Zhichen didn’t even blink as he lied. Ye Zhile suppressed a laugh, and the others at the table couldn’t help but chuckle as well.

“Still laughing? You can’t even finish a single bowl of rice, eating like a little kitten,” Wen Yumo scolded Ye Zhile affectionately.

Ye Zhile stuck out his tongue and continued eating slowly.

Ultimately, under Wen Yumo’s pressure, he managed to finish a bowl of rice, though many side dishes remained.

After dinner, as Ye Zhile sat at the table, Ye Zhijin placed a cake shaped like a blue castle on the table. On top was a little sugar figure modeled after Ye Zhile. He lit the candles one by one and turned off the lights.

“Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday, dear Lele~”

Everyone sang the birthday song together, and finally, it was time for him to make a wish.

Ye Zhile pressed his hands together and made a very long wish.

First, he wished for the prosperity of the country and its people. Second, he wished for his family’s safety and happiness. Third, he wished for My Lord’s safe return.

Ye Zhile opened his eyes after making his wish and blew out the candles, looking at everyone with a beaming smile. “Thank you, Papa and Father, and big brother and second brother. Thank you too, Xingtu and Brother Yuanqing, for spending my birthday with me.”

“Lele, there’s no need to be polite with me. I even bought you a gift,” Leng Xingtu said, pulling out a square gift box. “Here.”

“Thank you, Xingtu.” Ye Zhile accepted it happily. Immediately after, Xiao Yuanqing also brought out a gift. He received five or six gifts in total, stacking them into a small mountain.

“Our Lele has grown another year older,” Wen Yumo said with relief, patting his head. Ye Zhile leaned against his Papa affectionately.

Ye Zhile cut the cake, and Ye Zhichen was the first to smear a bit of frosting on the tip of his nose. “Let’s mark the birthday boy first. Wishing our little birthday boy peace and safety.”

Ye Zhile gave a “hee-hee” laugh, his eyes curving and his teeth white, looking just like a kitten.

Ye Zhijin set up the camera and set the timer. Finally, he walked over to Ye Zhile’s side, and they all took a group photo together.

The gathering didn’t last long before everyone dispersed. Ye Zhile needed to rest early. After a few bites of cake, he went to sleep.

In the dead of night, when all was silent, Ye Zhile opened his eyes. He was a light sleeper, and the earlier excitement had made it hard to rest. It had been like this for several days. Since leaving the sterile room, he hadn’t let his Papa stay with him. He had hired two caregivers, but Wen Yumo wasn’t at ease and spent all his non-working hours at the hospital.

Ye Zhile just sat there, his mind filled with a mess of thoughts, until his body could no longer take it and he finally drifted off.

The next morning, the doctor came for an examination. He wrote several notes in his book before saying to Ye Zhile, “Our suggestion is to deliver a month early. If we wait for the full term, it might cause irreversible damage to your body.”

“Will there be any impact if it’s early?” Ye Zhile asked.

“No, don’t worry. Enigmas are inherently resilient; the bloodline won’t have any accidents,” the doctor said.

Ye Zhijin frowned, looking at Ye Zhile’s deathly pale face. He looked so fragile that a gust of wind might blow him away. He asked the doctor, “Doctor, how is my brother’s health right now?”

The doctor remained silent for a moment before saying, “It’s better than it was a few months ago, but in the later stages, if there is no Enigma pheromone to accompany him, his bodily functions will slowly deplete. In severe cases, we might have to remove the glands. It’s best if the patient maintains a good mood, eats well, and sleeps well.”

“Will there be any issues during the surgery?” Ye Zhijin asked.

“I’m sorry, we cannot give you a definitive answer. Family members should be mentally prepared, but we will do our utmost to ensure the patient’s safety.”

After the doctor left, Ye Zhile fell into a state of panic. “Big brother…”

“What is it?” Ye Zhijin sat down. Ye Zhile’s eyes flickered. “I’m scared…”

“If… if I’m not here anymore, what will happen?” Ye Zhile was full of worry.

“That won’t happen.” Ye Zhijin took his hand to comfort him. “Don’t think too much. Everyone will be safe. Our Lele is a little lucky star.”

Ye Zhile’s tears fell, helplessness and fear occupying his heart.

“Don’t cry, Lele.” Ye Zhijin wiped away his tears, coaxing him. “The doctor said your mood is very important, so let’s think of the good things, okay?”

Ye Zhile nodded with red eyes.

Later, Ye Zhijin informed the others of the situation. Wen Yumo didn’t say anything in front of Ye Zhile, but once he stepped outside, he collapsed into Ye Junting’s arms and cried.

“Tell me… when he was little, I hoped he would grow up healthy. Now I still hope for his health and happiness. Why is it so hard?” Wen Yumo sobbed uncontrollably.

“Yumo…” Ye Junting felt no better, wiping the tears from the corners of his own eyes as he comforted his spouse.

Translator’s Note: Happy birthday, Lele… but the news about the surgery is so heavy. In Omegaverse stories, the “gland removal” is a huge deal—it’s like losing a part of your soul.
