Chapter 79: Grandma’s House
Ye Zhile shook his head. “No…”
“Be good, stop crying.” Ye Junting wiped away his tears. “From now on, stay at home. You’re not going anywhere. You’ll always be Papa and Father’s little treasure. Don’t cry.”
“Mm…” With red eyes, Ye Zhile watched as Ye Junting stood up. “I’ll go check on your Papa.”
“Tell Papa not to be sad. I’ve already moved on,” Ye Zhile said.
“Alright.”
After having a good cry, Ye Zhile felt much better. Ye Zhijin and Ye Zhichen stayed with him, playing with Dudu.
Not long after, Wen Yumiao came down. He sat beside Ye Zhile. “Will you stay at home with Papa from now on?”
Ye Zhile hugged him. “Papa, don’t be sad. It’s no big deal. I feel very relieved now. It’s fine.”
“Good,” Wen Yumiao responded. “As long as you’re okay.”
Ye Zhile looked up and smiled. “But I might go to Grandma’s house for a while.”
“Grandma’s house?” Wen Yumiao thought about it. “That works too. The environment there is good, the air is fresh. It’s fine for you to go and relax. Is Dudu going too?”
“Of course he’s going,” Ye Zhile said. “I’m specifically taking Dudu there to play.”
“Alright. Grandma’s house has a nanny too, so let the nanny help watch him so you won’t be too tired,” Wen Yumiao said.
Ye Zhile smiled.
Ye Zhile stayed at home for two days before heading to his grandmother’s house. Her home was in a relatively remote small town, far from the hustle and bustle. The town was very quiet and enjoyed spring-like weather all year round, making it look fresh and bright, as if one had stepped into a fairy tale world.
His grandmother’s house was a two-story small villa with a front yard surrounded by a fence. The flowers in the yard were in full bloom. His grandmother and grandfather had been waiting at the door for a long time. As soon as Ye Zhile got out of the car, they immediately went to meet him.
“Lele!” His grandmother cheered, walking quickly to hug Ye Zhile. “Oh, my dear grandson, Grandma missed you to death.”
Ye Zhile returned the hug. “I missed Grandma and Grandpa too!”
Ye Zhile brought Dudu down. “This is Dudu!”
“Truly adorable, looks exactly like you did when you were little.” Grandma was delighted to see Dudu’s fair and chubby appearance. “Come, let Great-Grandma hold you.”
Ye Zhile handed Dudu to Grandma. He linked arms with Grandpa. “Did Grandpa miss me?”
“I did!” Grandpa flicked the tip of his nose, saying dotingly, “I missed this little troublemaker who barely visits a few times a year.”
“Well, I was busy with school,” Ye Zhile muttered.
The driver brought Ye Zhile’s luggage inside and then left. Ye Zhile had his own separate room at his grandparents’ house—even his Papa and Father didn’t get that treatment; they just had to stay in a guest room, but Ye Zhile’s room remained unchanged forever.
Since Ye Zhile was here, Grandma and Grandpa personally cooked, making the dishes Ye Zhile liked to eat. Ye Zhile was so relaxed; he just lay on the sofa and didn’t care about anything. Dudu was taken care of by the nanny, while he focused only on eating and playing.
“Come, come, the sweet and sour fish Lele loves.” Saying this, Grandma put a piece of crispy, delicious sweet and sour fish into Ye Zhile’s bowl. “Eat more. Look how thin you are; I bet you weigh less than an old woman like me.”
Ye Zhile laughed and joked, “But I just don’t get fat. What can I do?”
“You and your glib tongue.” Grandma gave him a look. “Eat properly. Your Papa was right, feeding you is like feeding a cat.”
Grandma knew about Ye Zhile’s health. Wen Yumiao had told them about his condition during pregnancy. At that time, they wanted to fly over to see him, but Wen Yumiao said it was too far and wouldn’t be good for the two elders to travel back and forth. So they hadn’t gone. This time, Wen Yumiao told them Ye Zhile was coming, and the two elders thought they had to make their precious grandson go back fair and plump.
Ye Zhile was very happy. Without those distressing matters and being pampered by his family in every detail, he felt light and carefree.
The town was named Youran Town. The climate here was pleasant, and most of the houses were small villas. It was said to be a retirement spot built by high-ranking officials, so the luxury level was no less than in the city. Wen Yumiao and Ye Junting had bought this small villa for the two elders here to spend their later years in peace.
Outside the fence was a clean, level two-lane asphalt road. Across from them was another small villa, with the lights in the yard still on. Ye Zhile sat in his yard, looking up at the sky.
The stars were spread out, shrouding the entire town in hazy moonlight.
“Lele!” Grandma called out from inside. “Don’t sit out too long, you’ll catch a cold.”
“I know!” Ye Zhile called back.
Ye Zhile sat in the yard for only about ten minutes before coming inside. His room had been cleaned very well. After showering, Ye Zhile brought Dudu into his room. “Dudu, sleep with Daddy.”
“Dudu wakes up at night. If you sleep with him, you won’t sleep well.” Grandma came over to take Dudu away. Ye Zhile felt helpless but found it funny. “I won’t, Grandma. Dudu is six months old now; he rarely wakes up at night.”
“Oh, just listen to me. Wait until he’s a bit older.” Grandma was uncompromising regarding Ye Zhile’s health.
“Fine, fine.” Ye Zhile compromised, waving his hands at Dudu. “Dudu, Daddy can’t protect you anymore. Let Grandma protect you.”
“Little drama queen.” Grandma shooed him. “Hurry up and go to sleep.”
“Okay.” Ye Zhile lay down obediently. Grandma carried Dudu out, closed the door for him, and coaxed Dudu, “Let’s go, Dudu is going to sleep with Grandma~”
Ye Zhile smiled. He pulled up the quilt, turned off the light, and as the moon shone in through the window, the upturned corners of the boy’s mouth were faintly visible.
For the past few days, a cold aura always pervaded the Leader’s Estate. When Xiao Ru cleaned the house, she could still see frost on the floors from the Supreme Leader. While she marveled at the power of an Enigma, she was also terrified by the Leader’s emotional instability, fearing an explosion any day. The Leader had never before lost emotional control, but looking at this situation, it was coming soon.
With people gone, the estate was colder and quieter than ever. Ji Shuohan sat at the dining table, eating. As he ate, the utensils in his hand scraped harshly against the plate, making a sharp, piercing sound. He remained expressionless and unmoved, yet the people in the estate listened with fear.
With a ‘clang,’ Ji Shuohan threw the knife and fork onto the plate and went upstairs.
Dudu’s nursery remained unchanged, still looking like an infant lived there. But Ye Zhile’s room was no different from any other guest room. The Omega’s pheromones were gradually fading, and all his belongings had vanished as if he had never existed.
“Xiao Ru.” Ji Shuohan called out. Xiao Ru came over. “My Lord.”
“There’s no need to make the bed in this room anymore,” Ji Shuohan said. After all, no one lived there.
“Yes.”
