Chapter 8: The Supreme Leader Hugged Him~
The afternoon session was shooting. First was standing shooting, then prone sniping. Ye Zhile was assigned to the last group. Whether it was because he caught a chill in the morning, his head felt heavy and groggy. He didn’t pay much attention to it, but during the standing shooting, the recoil shook him, and his head felt like egg white and yolk being scrambled togetherâmuddled.
Ye Zhile lay on the ground. The recoil from the prone sniping was even more powerful. His head was confused, and just like that, the sniper rifle slammed fiercely into his collarbone. It hurt so much that his eyes welled up with tears, and he couldn’t get up from the ground for a long time.
“Ye Zhile!” Ji Shuohan called out. Seeing no response, he strode over, turned the person’s shoulder, and looked. The Omega was burning up, his eyes red and his complexion abnormal.
“Ye Zhile.” Ji Shuohan patted his face gently. “Are you alright?”
“Mn?” Ye Zhile was dazed. “Head hurts…”
Seeing his weak and feeble state, Ji Shuohan bent down and picked him up directly. He told Wei Xichu, “You watch over things. I’m taking him to the infirmary.”
“…” Wei Xichu nodded. Understood. This was care for an Omega.
Everyone was dumbfounded. What did they just see? The Supreme Leader actually cared about an irrelevant Omega? And used a princess carry?
“That Ye Zhile, I saw him eating with another Alpha at noon.”
“More than that, they were even touching faces.”
“Sure enough, Alphas are all the same, and Enigmas are no exception.”
“The Supreme Leader might just be kind-hearted. He is the Chief Instructor; he can’t just leave him to die.”
“Tsk tsk, pretending so hard just for a fever.”
“I say you’re just jealous that you’re not as good-looking as him.”
Leng Xingtu clicked his tongue impatiently. He looked at the group of gossiping Omegas and Betas with unkind eyes. “Why do you have so much to say? You love rushing to kneel and lick Alphas so much; can you not survive otherwise?”
The crowd dared not speak out in anger. After all, Leng Xingtuâs background was on the tableâhis family power was immense, involving the entire Imperial Royal Family. How could they dare to offend him, fearing they might invite trouble upon themselves?
Ye Zhile had a high fever, 39.5 degrees. He was on an IV drip in the infirmary. Ji Shuohan sat by the bed guarding him. The Omegaâs face was flushed, his long eyelashes moist. His lean figure appeared faintly under the quilt, looking frail as if a gust of wind could blow him away.
Just climbing a mud pit and he gets a fever. Truly delicate.
When Ye Zhile woke up, it was already three hours later, and the sky outside was turning dark. He saw Ji Shuohan sitting expressionlessly by the bed. Seeing him wake up, Ji Shuohan glanced over. “Awake?”
Ye Zhile blinked. “Thank you, Leader, for sending me to the infirmary.”
“Mn. Go back to the dormitory since you’re awake. I’ve already requested leave for you for today.” Saying that, Ji Shuohan stood up to let him get off the bed.
Ye Zhile lifted the quilt. He was still wearing his military training uniform, which outlined his lean and well-proportioned figure. Ji Shuohan immediately noticed that slender waist. He looked away, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw the Omega sway as he got out of bed, about to fall. He quickly reached out to catch him.
His large palm covered the warm, slender waist. Ji Shuohan instantly became uncomfortable, his tone stiff. “What’s wrong with you?”
Ye Zhile grabbed his arm. “My legs are soft, head is dizzy…”
The dizziness was because of the lingering low fever; the weak legs were because the high-intensity exercise today made him unaccustomed, and after resting, the feeling became even more pronounced.
Without a second word, Ji Shuohan picked him up by the waist.
The waist in his palm was slender and soft. Ji Shuohanâs fingers covering it tightened uncomfortably.
In the afternoon, Ye Zhile had been dizzy and didn’t feel much. But now, lying awake in the Leader’s arms, his face turned red, and his heart pounded non-stop. He felt even dizzier now. He wanted to say there was no need, but felt that would be pretentious, and he was also a bit attached to the feeling…
When Ye Zhile came back to his senses, he realized they had already passed his dormitory. “Where are we going, Leader?”
“My dormitory.” Ji Shuohan lowered his eyes. “I can’t very well carry you to your dormitory.”
That would be big news. Ye Zhile thought. He pursed his lips and obediently shut his mouth.
The school had set aside a separate dormitory for Ji Shuohan, complete with a living room and full facilities. Ye Zhile was placed on the sofa. Ji Shuohan said, “Try moving around a bit before getting up.”
Ye Zhile nodded. Subsequently, Ji Shuohan went out and brought back two portions of food that Wei Xichu had delivered.
“Thank you.” Ye Zhile took the chopsticks Ji Shuohan handed him. It was a rice bowl from the school cafeteria.
After eating, Ji Shuohan found a set of brand-new pajamas and handed them to Ye Zhile. “Go rest if you’re tired.”
Ye Zhile took them. He propped himself up from the sofa and walked toward the bathroom. Ji Shuohan stopped him. “What are you doing?”
“Taking a shower,” Ye Zhile said.
“Why are you showering right after your fever broke?” Ji Shuohan frowned.
Ye Zhile didn’t dare to make a sound and silently retreated. He looked at Ji Shuohanâs unpleasant expression and asked, “Did I do something wrong?”
Ji Shuohan didn’t understand. “Why do you ask that?”
“The Leader said today that I could give up. It seemed like you didn’t trust me from the beginning, but I clearly completed it very well, just a bit slower.” Ye Zhileâs voice was thin but logical. He looked at Ji Shuohan. “Does the Leader think that being an Omega means it’s only natural to give up, that Omegas don’t have this kind of responsibility and duty?”
“It is a fact that Omegas are weak,” Ji Shuohan said. “If you insist on going against your nature to complete something you cannot complete, I don’t think it is necessary.”
“But I completed it very well today. I did it.” Ye Zhile said. He looked at Ji Shuohan stubbornly. “And… and the Leader is only targeting me alone.”
There was more than one Omega, yet the Leader’s words were only directed at him. That dismissive and disdainful look made it seem as if Ye Zhile’s participation in military training was entirely dispensable.
Am I that terrible…
Ji Shuohan was silent for a moment. He wasn’t targeting Ye Zhile; he was trying to protect him. The marriage was originally a transaction. He would follow what Minister Ye said: protect Ye Zhile for a lifetime, not let him suffer any harm, and be the strongest sanctuary behind him.
“Ye Zhile.” Ji Shuohan called him. Facing the gaze of those clear eyes, he spoke without blushing or missing a beat. “I don’t wish for you to suffer any harm by my side. I will do my utmost to protect you.”
To make up for the guilt of deceiving you.
Before Ye Zhile could react, Ji Shuohan entered the bathroom first. “Go to sleep.”
Ye Zhile stood in place. A long while later, he turned red as a cooked crab and quickly walked into the bedroom.
The bedroom was simple and tidy, incomparable to the Leader’s Manor, but very cozy.
After Ye Zhile lay down, he thought: I’m sleeping in the Leader’s bedroom, so where will the Leader sleep?
Hearing the bathroom door open, Ye Zhile nervously gripped the quilt, pulling it up to cover half his face. But after waiting a long time, the Leader didn’t come in.
Oh… he overthought it. The Leader was sleeping on the sofa.
Ye Zhile felt a little tiny bit of disappointment in his heart, but the amount of exercise during the day was truly too great. After lying in bed, he became groggy in no time and fell into a deep sleep.
