EO Romance: The Supreme Leader Is About to Enter the Crematorium Chapter 87

Chapter 87: No Face to Say Sorry to Him

Ye Zhile was moved into the Intensive Care Unit. A week later, he was out of danger and transferred to a general ward. For the past week, everyone’s hearts had been hanging by a thread; only now could they truly breathe a sigh of relief.

Ji Shuohan stood by the hospital bed. He had stayed at the hospital every day, and only when Ye Zhile left the ICU did he finally feel a sense of relief.

“I don’t think Lele will want to see you when he wakes up.” Ye Zhijin walked in. The person on the bed was still wearing an oxygen mask, and the heart rate monitor beside him showed that his breathing was weak.

“I know,” Ji Shuohan said in a low voice. “Once he wakes up, I will leave.”

Ye Zhijin glanced at him. He crossed his arms and looked at Ye Zhile’s pale face. “Ji Shuohan, stop disturbing him. He’s tired enough.”

Ji Shuohan took a heavy breath. “I’m sorry.”

“Do you even know what you’re apologizing for?” Ye Zhijin’s tone was hostile. “You haven’t even figured out exactly how you wronged him. What face do you have to say you’re sorry?”

Ji Shuohan remained silent. Ye Zhijin continued, “After you went missing, his body suffered because of the lack of pheromones. The doctors suggested he shouldn’t keep the baby, and our whole family agreed. But he defied my Papa. For you, he didn’t even care about his own life.”

Ye Zhijin’s eyes grew moist, and he let out a breath. “His health was poor, and he was worried about you. He spent four months in a sterile room being nurtured by pheromones. When he came out, his body was in terrible shape. Our whole family was afraid he would be gone in the next second. But he was so sensible; fearing we would worry, he forced a smile every single day. We could only pretend nothing was wrong.”

“So, Ji Shuohan, do you know how disgusting your ‘I’m sorry’ sounds?” Ye Zhijin questioned him. “When he was on the operating table, hovering between life and death, it was me, Xiao Chen, and my Father—the three of us—who begged him to come back! And you?!”

“Not only did you bring back an Omega to break his heart! You did those things and said those words to make him lose all hope!” Ye Zhijin denounced him sharply. “Why did he have to tolerate you over and over again?! Because he liked you! Because your promise to him was that you liked him and would respect and protect everything about him! But in the end, you trampled on his sincerity and his love!”

“A-Jin!” Xiao Yuanqing entered and pulled at Ye Zhijin. “Lele needs rest.”

Ye Zhijin calmed down, reached out to wipe away his tears, and turned to leave without looking back.

“Shuohan…” Xiao Yuanqing looked at Ji Shuohan, who was staring at Ye Zhile with eyes full of guilt, and hesitated to speak.

“I’m also wondering how I have the face to say sorry to him.” Ji Shuohan’s eyes were lowered. “Every single injury he suffered was caused by me. And yet, I ran to him acting as if nothing had happened, offering an apology… only to break his heart all over again.”

Xiao Yuanqing opened his mouth, wanting to say something but finding it difficult. He wanted to say it was because of the memory loss, but this guy had been so arrogant back then! The high-and-mighty attitude of an Enigma had made his hands itch to hit him more than once.

Finally, Xiao Yuanqing sighed. “Let Lele have some peace for a few days. Don’t provoke him. His body is very weak right now. Originally, because your pheromones were missing, the doctors told him to have his gland removed, but he wouldn’t listen. He insisted on waiting for you…”

But what had Ji Shuohan done? He treated pheromones like a handout, leaving his own Omega weak and frail due to pheromone deficiency until he was forced to ask for them himself.

Ji Shuohan suddenly felt as if his chest were so stuffed he couldn’t breathe, as if all his strength had been sucked away in an instant. He knelt down by Ye Zhile’s bed and let his tears fall in penance.

Ye Zhile woke up the next day. Seeing him awake, Ye Zhichen stood by the bed and quickly waved at him. “Lele?”

“Lele?” Ye Zhijin also came over to call his name.

Ye Zhile’s mind was initially a blank. Having slept for so long, his body was somewhat numb. But seeing his two brothers’ movements, as if they were calling out to someone in a coma, his eyes curved. He was still wearing an oxygen mask and couldn’t speak.

“He smiled, he smiled—no, no! He’s awake, haha!” Ye Zhichen was incoherent with joy.

Xiao Yuanqing came by and gave him an examination. “Nothing major now. For the next phase, just recuperate well. Don’t overexert yourself.”

“It’s good that you’re okay,” Wen Yumiao said, coming to Ye Zhile’s bedside. For these few days, he could only lie down and couldn’t get up. Wen Yumiao touched his face, saying with heartache, “You’ve gotten thin again.”

“I’ll gain it back in a few days…” Ye Zhile’s voice was weak. Wen Yumiao chided him, “That only happens if you eat more. How can you gain it back if you don’t eat?”

Ye Zhile pouted, pretending to be aggrieved. “Papa is being mean to me…”

“How would I dare be mean to you? You’re our family’s little ancestor.” Wen Yumiao flicked the tip of his nose. “Rest well first. If you can’t speak much, then don’t. You sound like a kitten meowing.”

“I do not…” Ye Zhile whispered back in protest, then asked, “Where’s Dudu?”

“The nanny is looking after him at home,” Ye Zhijin smiled. “That little fellow can say ‘Daddy’ now. All day long, he just shouts ‘Daddy’ at people.”

Ye Zhile couldn’t help but smile. “Brother, bring him here. I miss him.”

“I know. I’ll go get him in a bit,” Ye Zhijin responded.

Ye Zhile’s head ached from sleeping. He tilted his head to ease the discomfort but caught sight of a figure flashing past the partially closed ward door. Ye Zhile froze for a moment, then looked back.

His heart was calm, without a single ripple.

Ji Shuohan went to Xiao Yuanqing’s office. Xiao Yuanqing looked up from his computer. “What do you want to ask? His condition?”

“Mm,” Ji Shuohan responded. “Will there be any permanent aftereffects on his body?”

“No,” Xiao Yuanqing answered him. “But… his constitution has always been poor, and his mental power was hollowed out. So, try to make sure he doesn’t get tired or let his emotions pile up. Appropriately… you should secretly release your pheromones for him. Your pheromones have a healing effect on him.”

Xiao Yuanqing also knew Ye Zhile didn’t want to see him, and he feared that if the two met, it would provoke Ye Zhile. Thus, he told Ji Shuohan to release pheromones quietly without letting him notice.

“Mm,” Ji Shuohan added. “My pheromone extract should be even more effective, right?”

“Yes, but if his body becomes addicted to your pheromone extract, he’ll be in trouble because no one’s pheromone extract can be supplied 24/7,” Xiao Yuanqing said seriously.

“Alright, I understand.” With that, Ji Shuohan turned and left.

Ye Zhile could only eat liquid food. He wasn’t picky; perhaps because he was hungry, he ate a whole bowl of seafood porridge. Wen Yumiao kept praising him for being so good, which made Ye Zhile feel quite embarrassed.

Later in the evening, Dudu came. Ye Zhile couldn’t hold him yet, and Dudu kept shouting “Daddy, Daddy,” making his heart melt. He could only have his brother hold the baby close so he could give him a kiss to satisfy his longing.
