Chapter 40: Phone Call
The replay meeting ended. Mao Qiude put down the newly organized data sheets and looked at Duan Mingyue sitting opposite him. “When can UOOW join the team? If we don’t hurry, there won’t even be time to submit his name.”
Duan Mingyue’s body stiffened almost imperceptibly, but his expression remained unchanged as he said lightly, “In these two days.”
“Alright, anyway, you guys hurry up.”
Unlike Mi Yonghui, Mao Qiude didn’t want to interfere at all, or even know about others’ love lives.
He cared even less whether UOOW was male or female. As long as it helped the team, he would look upon it favorably.
This was one of the reasons Duan Mingyue told no one but him the truth.
Duan Mingyue smiled and nodded. “Okay.”
Coming out of the meeting room, he originally intended to return to the training room to continue self-training. However, just as he reached the door, his phone rang.
Looking at the context-less messages sent by the little support, Duan Mingyue felt his state seemed a bit off and frowned.
[KW-RedMoon: What happened?]
Shen Yanjin was completely dizzy now. All thinking had stopped; he could only act on emotion and instinct.
He couldn’t think of anything, couldn’t remember anything.
He only knew the person on the other end was his most beloved, and he had made him unhappy.
So he whined a few sentences back, incoherent and lacking any main point.
Looking at the reply on his phone, Duan Mingyue understood: YanGold was nine out of ten drunk.
He frowned slightly and replied: [Pro players, don’t drink.]
For an industry like esports that required micro-control, alcohol would greatly affect a player’s mechanics and condition.
Shen Yanjin naturally knew this too. Since entering the pro circle, he had maintained a teetotal lifestyle, only breaking it after retirement.
Perhaps because his nerves relaxed, or because he didn’t pay special attention to these things anymore, plus only touching it during occasional gatherings with old friends, Shen Yanjin got dizzyingly drunk twice.
He vaguely knew he made the person on the other end unhappy again. Feeling aggrieved and anxious, he typed for a while but felt it wasn’t enough. He actually forgot he was still wearing a disguise and dialed a voice call directly.
[UOOW: I was wrong…]
[UOOW: Sorry really sorry]
[UOOW: [Voice Call Request]]
Duan Mingyue was stunned.
The little support called him directly?
Was he not planning to pretend anymore, or did the voice changer upgrade again?
Regardless, Duan Mingyue wouldn’t let go of this rare opportunity.
He clicked accept.
This time, what came from the phone wasn’t the soft, sweet girlish voice processed by a computer sound card.
The young man’s voice was clear and gentle, only now carrying a thick drunkenness, making his speech slurred. Probably feeling aggrieved, his words carried a flavor of acting spoiled.
“Moon God…” Shen Yanjin sighed mumblingly, “I didn’t mean to, really. Don’t be angry, okay? I know I was wrong.”
Duan Mingyue had imagined many times what the little support’s natural voice sounded like.
Hearing it suddenly now, his heart had only one thought: It should be so.
Five years passed. YanGold’s voice had shed the immaturity of back then, transforming into something more mature. Duan Mingyue closed his eyes, and for some reason, the photo the little support sent a few days ago floated into his mind.
He stopped walking toward the training room, turned around, and walked toward the elevator.
At the same time, he involuntarily softened his voice, guiding as if coaxing, “Where were you wrong?”
Shen Yanjin had a splitting headache and a parched throat. A uncomfortable whimper escaped his throat, and he said pitifully, “I shouldn’t have lied to you, shouldn’t have drunk alcohol, and…”
“And what?”
“Shouldn’t have sent leg photos to seduce you.”
