Chapter 11: The Seed of Love Sprouting
Hearing this ear-piercing sentence, Chi Jing’s vision went black. Could there really be such a dense “straight man” in the world? He and the Captain sometimes silently reminded him, giving him looks, but why couldn’t this old geezer understand?
Qi Feng and he simply couldn’t bear to look. For some reason, hearing this sentence, Song Qi felt a painful twinge in his heart. Shouldn’t he be happy? Biological brothers, eh? With such a good relationship, why did hearing it make him feel terrible?
Hearing Yuan Jibai’s words, Mo Jingchun also froze for a moment. His dark eyes lowered, saying nothing. His hands mechanically repeated the action of feeding Song Qi. Clearly, this was something the two of them did often, but for some unknown reason, Song Qi suddenly felt it was very strange. Suddenly, a seed sprouted in his heart, but before it could emerge, he threw it to the back of his mind.
Chi Jing sat in the chair until his waist was about to break. He moved his waist, preparing to go out for a walk. Just as he changed his shoes and prepared to leave, Qi Feng called out to him.
“There are quite a few stray cats in the neighborhood. I’m going to feed them in a bit. Can we go together?”
Chi Jing’s eyes suddenly lit up. He was naturally defenseless against these fluffy things. Unfortunately, the previous base didn’t allow cats. Instantly, the idea of bringing a cat back to raise sprouted.
“Sure, I’ll wait for you.”
Although he thought this inside, on the surface, he still wore a calm expression, thinking it was seamless. In reality, that little thought had long been grasped by Qi Feng. He remembered his Little Chi liked cats and dogs. When he was young, his family didn’t allow pets, and after becoming financially independent, he didn’t raise one for some reason. But he was very confident he could use a cat to tie down his heart~
Yuan Jibai went upstairs to shower. Mo Jingchun and Song Qi sat opposite each other on the sofa without speaking. Qi Feng raised an eyebrow; consider it his good deed for the day, leaving them some private space.
Chi Jing saw those expressions and couldn’t help but criticize internally: This scheming, secretly affectionate old man, all his thoughts are written on his face.
“Let’s go.”
Qi Feng held cat food packed in small bags, along with some cat treat sticks and canned main meals. He also held a bottle of mineral water.
“Why bring so much stuff?”
Chi Jing, who hadn’t fed cats in the neighborhood, couldn’t help but ask. Qi Feng answered with composure, “Occasionally give them a feast. Cats don’t like drinking water, and the pools in the complex are dirty. Open a can, then use a bowl to mix some water with the canned food so the cats drink more water.”
Chi Jing, now understanding, left with the triumphant Qi Feng. The entire living room was left with only Mo Jingchun and Song Qi. The atmosphere between the two was inexplicably silent.
“Brother, do you have someone you like?”
Song Qi still asked this question uncontrollably. He didn’t know why, but he felt this answer was very important to him.
Mo Jingchun fell silent. His deep eyes gradually grew scorching as he stared fixedly at Song Qi. He pursed his lips, his voice feigning nonchalance.
“Why did you think of asking this?”
Song Qi was suddenly stumped by the question, not knowing where to start. Mo Jingchun just quietly stared at him, the love in his eyes suppressed beneath his emotions, leaning half-way back on the sofa waiting for his answer.
Song Qi swallowed, then bit the bullet and said, “Just curious what kind of person you like, Brother.”
He lifted his eyelids indifferently, his deep eyes gazing at him with scrutiny.
“I have someone I like. I like someone well-behaved. You asked me two questions; can I ask you two questions too?”
Hearing his answer, Song Qi felt a faint pain at the bottom of his heart. He didn’t know where this emotion came from.
“What do you want to ask?”
Mo Jingchun asked back the two questions he had originally asked him.
“What about you? Have you liked anyone before? What kind do you like?”
Song Qi thought for a moment and replied, “Seem to have someone I like. I like good-looking ones.”
Mo Jingchun suddenly smiled, asking with a serious tone, “Am I good-looking?”
For just a few seconds, he felt his face heat up. Even so, he tried hard to maintain a calm appearance sitting there. Facing the question, he brushed back a few strands of hair blocking his eyes. Taking a deep breath, he feigned calmness and replied, “Good-looking.”
The corners of Mo Jingchun’s mouth raised in a faint smile, his eyes fixed on him.
“What does ‘seem to have someone I like’ mean?”
Song Qi rubbed his hair in slight agitation, unable to explain it for a long time. Mo Jingchun didn’t push too hard, nodding as if he understood.
“Not sure?”
Song Qi took the way out he offered.
“A little.”
He lowered his eyes, asking seemingly inadvertently:
“What about before? Elementary school, middle school, high school… did you like any girls?”
Song Qi was dazed by his string of questions. Did I? Seemed like he hadn’t liked any girls.
“No.”
Mo Jingchun smiled, looked at the clock, and prepared to end the conversation.
“Never liked a girl.”
Song Qi suddenly added. Mo Jingchun’s thoughts completely stalled the moment he said that sentence. His mind went blank, his heart beating violently. He didn’t dare let himself delve into the meaning of this sentence—was it no girls liked, or…
He forced himself to calm down, saying with a normal expression, “It’s too late. No training today, sleep early. Training starts tomorrow.”
Song Qi nodded and went straight upstairs. Leaving Mo Jingchun sitting dazed on the sofa alone.
The atmosphere on Qi Feng’s side was infinitely more relaxed compared to Song Qi’s. Watching Chi Jing squatting down to feed the kittens, his platinum hair looking exceptionally dazzling under the streetlamp—although dyed many times, his hair quality still looked smooth. He squatted there, teasing the kittens.
Qi Feng suddenly asked, “Want to raise a cat?”
Chi Jing suddenly looked up, a strange brilliance bursting from his eyes, asking cheerfully, “Can we raise cats in the base?”
Qi Feng looked at his surprised expression, his heart softening again and again. This is how it should be. Chi Jing shouldn’t be indifferent and steady; he should have the passion and liveliness of an eighteen-year-old.
“Yes. If you want to raise one, I’ll take you to buy one tomorrow morning. We’ll raise it together.”
This was Qi Feng’s selfish motive. With a cat connecting the two of them, no matter what time it was, Chi Jing wouldn’t just leave.
“Okay! Then let’s go back in a bit. Sleep early, get up a bit earlier tomorrow to go.”
Qi Feng laughed involuntarily. “They don’t open that early. We can sleep until past 10, then I’ll drive you there.”
Not having to wake up early was even better! Chi Jing quickly finished feeding the cats and dragged Qi Feng back toward the base. Winter in Shanghai was very cold. Chi Jing was dressed very thinly, looking so precarious standing in the winter night, giving the feeling he might leave again in the next second. This sense of unease made Qi Feng feel terrible, but what status did he have now to ask for promises?
“It’s very cold this winter. You’re wearing too little.”
Chi Jing chuckled lightly. “I’m young! Good health, can’t feel the cold. If you don’t believe me, touch my hand.”
Chi Jing placed his hand in Qi Feng’s, even rubbing it.
“How is it? Very warm, right?”
Qi Feng’s heart was in chaos, and he gave a vague “Mn” in response.
