Chapters 24, 25, and 26 Part 1
At that moment, the world seemed to be frozen.
“Bai Sinian!” Zhou Yangzi’s voice pierced the tranquil street. When Bai Sinian rolled off the man, he had been stabbed in the abdomen, and the fresh blood kept flowing out.
The man still had the tool he used to commit the crime in his hand, and he was also scared, without any reaction for a long time.
Bian Rui ran over like a madman, took off his coat, and his sleeve got stuck at the wrist, which he tore off forcefully, immediately pressing it onto Bai Sinian’s wound, “Mom, call an ambulance! Quick!”
“Okay, okay, okay…” Zhou Yangzi’s legs felt a bit weak, and she stumbled back to the car to get her phone and dial 120.
“No, no, Rui Rui! I’ll drive him to the hospital!” Zhou Yangzi just realized they had a car, and going directly to the hospital would be faster.
Bian Rui didn’t have time to think too much, he picked up Bai Sinian in his arms and stuffed him into the car. Zhou Yangzi immediately got into the driver’s seat, took a deep breath several times before starting the engine and driving to the hospital in a hurry.
“Bai Sinian, are you okay?” Bian Rui’s forehead was sweating. He tried to talk to the injured person, as seen on TV, afraid that he would lose consciousness and never wake up again.
Bai Sinian’s wound was pressed by Bian Rui, and he lay weakly on Bian Rui’s lap, “I’m fine.”
“Hold on a little longer, we’ll be at the hospital soon! Everything will be fine once we get to the hospital.” Bian Rui’s voice had a touch of urgency, and he kept looking at the traffic, thinking of a backup plan if there was a traffic jam.
Accompanied by the intense pain, Bai Sinian’s vision gradually blurred, and in the second before he closed his eyes, he saw Bian Rui’s exquisite jawline and his anxious expression for him.
It was worth it, Bai Sinian thought, and closed his eyes in peace.
When he woke up again, his wound had been bandaged, but it still hurt a lot.
“Sinian, you’re awake!” Bai Sinian saw his mother’s swollen and reddened eyes, and his father’s haggard face.
“Dad, Mom…” Bai Sinian’s voice was hoarse.
“Do you have any other discomfort? We’ll have the doctor double-check.”
Bai Sinian’s voice was weak and soft, “No.”
His gaze swept around the hospital room and asked, “Where’s Bian Rui?”
Bai Sinian’s mother went to get her son some water, and his father answered, “They went downstairs to buy dinner. They also helped pay all kinds of fees, and we want to give them money, but they won’t take it. Sinian, what happened?”
Bian Rui must have told his parents about the incident, and of course, as parents, they wanted to hear the truth from their son’s mouth, which was very understandable.
So Bai Sinian recounted the entire process.
Bai Sinian’s mother helped him sit up and fed him water, “They said the same thing, and you really are, even if you’re doing the right thing, you shouldn’t risk your life! Didn’t you think about your dad and me? If you were gone, how would we live…”
As she said this, Bai Sinian’s mother choked up and was about to cry. Bai Sinian’s father immediately interrupted, “Don’t say inauspicious things. Your son is fine now, right! But Sinian, next time, you must be more careful. Life is the most important thing.”
“I know, Dad, Mom.”
If he had known the man had a knife, Bai Sinian might not have dared to rush forward. But at the time, who could have thought of that? He just wanted the man to let go of Bian Rui.
“Fortunately, it didn’t hit any vital organs. It’s the luckiest misfortune.” Bai Sinian’s mother was still anxious.
“Sinian, you’re awake!” Zhou Yangzi’s voice echoed in the hospital room: “Sinian’s Dad, Sinian’s Mom, I’m sorry for worrying you. I’ll cover all the later fees, and whatever the child needs, I’ll make sure it’s all taken care of!”
“I just hope you’ll stay away from my son from now on.” Bai Sinian’s mother said bluntly.
In her impression, the last time her son was “detained” by the school principal was because of something to do with a video with her son. This time, again, it was with her son, and it had even threatened his life!
In any case, they had to stay away from them!
“Mom…” Bai Sinian said helplessly.
He wanted to say more, but when he opened his mouth, the wound was pulled painfully, so he could only speak as little as possible.
“I’m sorry, Auntie. I’ll take good care of Bai Sinian until he’s fully recovered.” Bian Rui was sincere, and this was the first time Bai Sinian saw guilt on his face. That Bian Rui, who was always so arrogant, actually felt truly guilty for this!
Bai Sinian couldn’t help but feel a little shameful, even though his body was in this state, his heart was still secretly happy.
Bai Sinian’s father asked solemnly, “What about the assailant?”
Zhou Yangzi quickly explained, “He’s already been apprehended by the police! You can file a lawsuit against him! I can testify in court, so that he can be imprisoned for a longer time and pay more compensation!”
“We’ll see.”
Bai Sinian’s father would never let the perpetrator who hurt his son go easily, even if Zhou Yangzi didn’t say anything, he knew what to do.
Because Bai Sinian’s parents were constantly by his bedside, Bian Rui didn’t have a chance to talk to Bai Sinian properly. Bian Rui’s mother soon urged him to go home and rest, and come back to see him tomorrow.
Bai Sinian’s complexion was pale, and his lips were devoid of color, looking very fragile.
Bian Rui simply bid him farewell, but still couldn’t bear to leave, planning to come and see him early the next day.
Unexpectedly, on the first day of the new year, he ended up lying in the hospital. Bai Sinian’s mind was in a daze, sleeping all the time, waking up to eat and take medication. When he tried to play with his phone, his eyes and brain would feel very uncomfortable.
More fatal than the physical pain was the boredom.
He was really bored to death.
His dad went to work, and his mom took a day off to accompany him. Tomorrow, it would be his dad’s turn to take a day off to take care of him. It’s really hard for a dual-income family.
“Mom, I want to drink KFC porridge. Is there one nearby?” Bai Sinian could only think of this now, as he could only eat light foods.
Bai Sinian’s mother immediately got up: “Yes, there’s one nearby. I’ll go buy you breakfast now. Is there anything else you want?”
“No, not for now,” Bai Sinian lay on the hospital bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. “Mom, come back quickly.”
He didn’t want to lie there alone, feeling so lonely.
After a while, he heard the door to the hospital room open. He still maintained the same posture as when his mother left, staring wide-eyed at the ceiling, without even changing his gaze.
“Mom, I don’t want the porridge anymore.”
“I want the fried pig’s ears you used to make for me when I was little, so crispy and delicious…”
No response.
“Mom? Why aren’t you answering me? Then I’ll just obediently drink the porridge.”
Bai Sinian was so bored.
“But I brought you the steamed buns and soy milk from the West Lake Road.” Bian Rui’s clear voice rang out.
Bai Sinian felt his heartbeat skipping a beat, both excited and embarrassed, how could he have shown that clingy side to him!
Bian Rui placed the breakfast on the table next to the bed, walked to the head of the bed, and looked down at the motionless Bai Sinian.
Damn, even the way he looks down on me is so handsome, Bai Sinian thought unashamedly.
“Shall I help you sit up to eat?” Bian Rui’s tone was more like an order than a question.
“Mm.” Bai Sinian secretly glanced at Bian Rui a few times before shifting his gaze back to the ceiling.
Bian Rui bent over and slowly helped him sit up, then propped him up with a pillow. “Eat this, or the porridge you just mentioned?”
How could Bai Sinian not eat the breakfast Bian Rui brought!
“Eat this.”
