Flash Marriage with My Ex-Boyfriend’s Nemesis chapter 23
Chapter 23: Married First, Love Later, and a Convenient Side of Bullying the Scum 1 part 1
“Okay.” Ning Qingqing knew that since she and Gu Youchen were married, they shouldn’t live separately.
However, understanding the reason was one thing, and the actual feelings in her heart were another.
She was already nervous.
Fortunately, Gu Youchen’s phone beside her rang, seemingly a business call. He started discussing follow-up plans with the other party.
Ning Qingqing felt a little better and looked at the street scene outside.
This was the road from her apartment to Gu Youchen’s residence.
And this man would be with her for the next few decades…
Gu Youchen was on the phone for seven or eight minutes. After hanging up, he naturally started talking about that day’s project.
This topic happened to be what Ning Qingqing wanted to ask a few days ago, so the two of them chatted about the bidding project, and the atmosphere became natural and relaxed along the way.
Just then, the driver drove into a high-end residential area, all Jiangjing large apartments.
Gu Youchen explained, “I usually live here; it’s close to the company. The other houses are further away and I don’t live there often, so they lack necessary daily necessities.”
Ning Qingqing nodded, thinking that these were all large apartments, all with three or more bedrooms. There should be at least two bedrooms, right?
She silently calculated in her heart as the car drove into the underground parking garage.
The driver stopped the car. It was an elevator building, and Gu Youchen took Ning Qingqing directly to the entrance hall outside the living room.
Gu Youchen took a pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet and opened the packaging: “Qingqing, these slippers were for my cousin. You can wear them temporarily. We’ll go shopping for things together this weekend.”
Ning Qingqing nodded and changed out of her high heels.
She then realized that Gu Youchen was much taller than her; her slippers only reached his jawline.
“Qingqing, would you like some milk tonight?” Gu Youchen asked.
Ning Qingqing nodded: “Okay.”
She instinctively wanted to say thank you but restrained herself.
Gu Youchen went to the kitchen to heat the milk, while Ning Qingqing sat on the sofa looking around his home.
Gu Youchen had been away on business for a few days and hadn’t come back, and their marriage certificate was completely impulsive, so the appearance of his home could indirectly reflect his usual style.
The overall style was modern and fashionable, mainly black and white, but because he added a lot of gold and champagne colors, the room didn’t feel depressing or monotonous.
Except for a few pens casually placed on the coffee table, everything else was very tidy, breaking Ning Qingqing’s impression of single men.
At this time, Gu Youchen brought over the heated milk, handing it to Ning Qingqing, and naturally asked, “Qingqing, what do you want to eat tomorrow morning?”
Ning Qingqing took the milk; the temperature was just right.
She said, “I’m not picky about breakfast, Chinese or Western, Southern or Northern flavors are all fine.”
Gu Youchen raised his lips slightly: “So easy to please?”
Ning Qingqing’s breath hitched; she felt that this sentence was inexplicably ambiguous. She quickly drank the milk to cover her embarrassment.
Therefore, she didn’t notice that after saying those words, Gu Youchen turned around and walked to the bathroom to see if his ears were red.
Two minutes later, Gu Youchen came back, and Ning Qingqing had finished her milk.
She was about to wash the cup herself, but Gu Youchen had already taken it, leading her inside:
“Qingqing, both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. This is the master bedroom where I usually live, and the other guest room has been empty. I’ll put on the sheets in a while, so you can sleep in there. The bathroom in the suite also has toiletries, although not complete, you can make do with it for today.”
Hearing that she would have her own room, Ning Qingqing finally relaxed the tension she had been holding onto.
Although she planned to cultivate this marriage well, it didn’t mean that she had to immediately fulfill her marital duties.
She looked at Gu Youchen’s back as he took bedsheets from the closet, grateful for his respect and consideration.
Gu Youchen’s impression differed from what Shen Zhiqian had described. She wanted to get to know him better.
“Qingqing, it’s late tonight, get some rest early.” After introducing the various items in the bathroom, Gu Youchen said, “Also, send me a copy of the video you recorded on the bleachers at Shen Zhiyu’s school that day.”
Ning Qingqing thought about what Gu Youchen said to Shen Zhiqian tonight, so she asked, “You plan to send it to him?”
Gu Youchen nodded.
Ning Qingqing opened the phone’s sharing function and realized that the email Shen Corporation gave her hadn’t been deactivated yet.
So she said, “I’ll send it to him through the company email and ask HR to deactivate the account afterward.”
“Okay.” Gu Youchen nodded: “I’m right next door. Call me if you need anything.”
Ning Qingqing replied: “Okay.”
Gu Youchen’s voice softened: “Qingqing, good night.”
“Good night.”
When Gu Youchen turned to leave, he closed the door behind him.
Ning Qingqing was alone in the unfamiliar room. After standing for a while to calm herself, she opened her company email and sent the video recorded that day as an attachment to Shen Zhiqian’s email.
Then, she sent an email to HR, asking them to contact the IT department to delete all her permissions.
That night, Ning Qingqing tossed and turned for a while before falling asleep, but it was better than she expected.
At the same time, Shen Zhiqian sat on the flower bed downstairs from her apartment, obsessively replaying the video again and again—
“Zhiqian was just playing around; otherwise, why wouldn’t he bring her to meet his parents?”
“Played by Zhiqian for nine years, who in the high society of Di City would marry her?”
…
Shen Zhiqian clutched his phone, his fingers trembling.
He didn’t know whether he was shocked or angry.
Or more so, self-blame.
He had never imagined that when he wasn’t around, Ning Qingqing would be talked about like this, with disdainful tones, sarcastic smiles, and such harsh words!
And these were said by his mother and sister!
His mother came from a humble background, Shen Zhiqian always knew that. But over the years, Xue Wenlan had presented herself as a lady in front of him, and he thought she had gradually gotten rid of her old problems.
As for Shen Zhiyu, although she was sometimes spoiled in front of him, she had never shown any disrespect when he and Ning Qingqing were around.
Sometimes, she would call Ning Qingqing “sister-in-law.”
He thought they both liked Ning Qingqing; he thought his avoidance of marriage was just between him and Ning Qingqing.
However, he didn’t know that Ning Qingqing had suffered so much because of it!
Now it was Xue Wenlan and Shen Zhiyu, but what about others? The people in the company, would they also gossip privately, or would they sneer at Ning Qingqing when he wasn’t around?
Shen Zhiqian felt he couldn’t wait any longer.
He thought of Wang Qian, Ning Qingqing’s closest colleague, so he immediately called HR to get her number and called Wang Qian.
Wang Qian had already gone to bed and was suddenly woken up by a call. She was about to yell at the caller, but then she heard Shen Zhiqian’s voice.
She instantly became wide awake: “Mr. Shen?”
Shen Zhiqian went straight to the point: “Wang Qian, has Qingqing been gossiped about in the company, or has anyone subtly insulted her?”
Wang Qian was stunned, unsure how to answer.
Shen Zhiqian seemed to guess her hesitation and said, “Qingqing wants to break up with me. I’ve indirectly learned about some things, but I don’t know what she’s been through at the company.”
Hearing this, Wang Qian breathed a sigh of relief: “Mr. Shen, I’ll tell you then, please keep it a secret for me.”
Shen Zhiqian frowned, so his guess was true.
He said, “Okay, I need all the truth.”
Wang Qian then said, “Actually, there’s a small group chat among ordinary employees in the company. Before, this group was all about shipping you and Qingqing, but since Si Luoqing came and someone revealed that she was your ex-girlfriend, the group has been filled with all sorts of speculations.”
“Some people think you and Qingqing can make it, some say you’re using Qingqing as a replacement, about half and half!”
“And if you have the slightest movement, everyone’s eyes on Qingqing at lunchtime will be different. She says she doesn’t care, but she’s a girl, how can she really not care?”
“Actually, the most excessive thing you did…” Wang Qian realized she’d gone too far and quickly tried to stop.
