Chapter 151: Sorting Out Little Wan for Two Days
The gale sweeping across the entire Turkic territory lasted for two days.
Moreover, the wind blew harder and harder, blurring the distinction between day and night, with dark clouds covering the sky like a curtain of night. Fortunately, when the Yin Mountain Camp was built, they had chosen this location with a mountain slab as a windbreak; otherwise, the gale would have toppled the houses and tents.
No one entered or exited the central command tent for two days.
Su Jingzhi had a faint, imperceptible smile on his face. He held Wei Wanlan and fed him water, his knuckles brushing against Wei Wanlan’s cheek.
The little Emperor, at this moment, was a pitiful sight after being bullied. His body was covered in marks from their intimacy. The corners of his eyes were still flushed red, a color that wouldn’t fade, and he was so languid he didn’t want to move.
He was tasting romance for the first time, and so was Little Wan.
It was just that he had longed for this for so long, and now that his wish was finally fulfilled, he inevitably couldn’t control his limits and went overboard. He hadn’t let the person go for two days and two nights, making Little Wan cry and laugh, bite him angrily when he couldn’t take it anymore, and finally faint in a daze.
…
The only fortunate thing was that these two days of lingering intimacy made Little Wan sweat profusely, inadvertently curing his illness. He was just tired, but the wind-chill was getting better and better.
Wei Wanlan was put into the water for a bath for the second time.
Coming out of the bath this time, he refused to wear Su Jingzhi’s battle robe again, dead or alive. He begged the Regent King to send someone to get his inner garments, which were in the False Prince of Chengen’s tent.
Su Jingzhi, avoiding suspicion and fearing rumors about himself and “Wei Wanqing” would spread, didn’t send anyone to cause trouble. He braved the strong wind to go personally. Because of the extremely harsh weather, no one was walking about in the camp.
He went and returned quickly. When he handed the clothes to Wei Wanlan, he was covered in the chill of the outdoors. He said to Wei Wanlan:
“Little Wan, it’s snowing outside.”
Wei Wanlan lifted his eyelids, his doe eyes blinking rapidly. This was the blizzard sweeping through the Turkic lands written in the original novel. This snow had finally come. To be honest, he was a little afraid. But seeing Su Jingzhi so calm about the snow, he wasn’t so afraid anymore.
“The supplies you brought can allow the entire Yin Mountain Camp to survive the winter ahead of schedule. Did you know it was going to snow? Why are you so good?”
【Host has significantly advanced Mission Three.】
The system suddenly popped up a sentence.
Wei Wanlan blinked his doe eyes and quickly threw the credit to the Nine Dragon Mirror. He said to Su Jingzhi: “Doesn’t Zhen have a treasure in the room? Because Zhen dreamed of snow while facing the mirror, Zhen wanted to come and deliver charcoal and new military uniforms.”
He avoided talking about the origin of the Nine Dragon Mirror and his dream of the total annihilation of the Wei army. His eyes were bright, guarding his little secret tightly.
The answer brought waves of relief to Su Jingzhi, but he shook his head: “You could have just sent a trusted aide to deliver it.”
He couldn’t say the broken system forced him, that he had to come to mix in some participation points.
Wei Wanlan had to go all out and be willful. The tip of his little nose quivered, looking self-righteous even though he was in the wrong. If he dared to “sort him out” severely again, he would feign illness:
“Zhen missed you.”
This immediately made Su Jingzhi pick Wei Wanlan up and place him on his lap.
Wei Wanlan was so scared his legs trembled. He struggled hurriedly. So this was the “sorting out” meant? He said repeatedly:
“No more, no more, Zhen is about to be shattered by you. Zhen absolutely won’t do it now! Zhen won’t come to find you next time!”
How could he let the little fool think of him as a beast?
Besides, it wasn’t entirely his fault. Every time, it was Wei Wanlan who provoked him. The little fool bore some responsibility too.
Su Jingzhi shook the person gently to comfort him, pressing his forehead against Wei Wanlan’s chest, and said warmly:
“Not doing it. Just hugging.”
“Oh.” The little fool then sat obediently.
But when pressed against his chest, he hissed softly.
“What is it?”
“Skin broke. You did it.” He spoke very bluntly, innocent to the point of being a bit dense, unaware of it himself. “It hurts.”
Su Jingzhi was helpless. Since he promised to limit the frequency, he had to pretend not to hear, but he couldn’t really pretend not to hear because the little fool was squirming.
He sighed: “This King will apply medicine for you.”
It really was just serious medicine application. Both of them controlled themselves and didn’t misfire.
But Wei Wanlan’s small face was still completely red because he would tremble while it was being applied, whispering complaints about Su Jingzhi’s rough fingertips. After applying it, he quickly put on all his thick clothes and pulled up his hood. When he got out of bed, his steps were unsteady, a bit stumbling.
The wind in the camp lessened a bit. The two opened the felt curtain of the military tent, and the heavy snow fell like torn cotton and plucked catkins. The light from outside shone in, blindingly white.
The soldiers in the camp had all changed into new equipment. The new military uniforms were light and warm. The Yin Mountain Camp in the snow was wrapped in silver, but it didn’t affect the soldiers’ movements in the slightest.
Wei Wanlan heard strangers praising him:
“His Majesty’s heavenly grace, His Majesty’s dragon grace is vast.”
“Without these supplies, who knows how many people would have frozen to death in this snow…”
Under his hood, Wei Wanlan quietly hooked the corners of his mouth. The act of smiling pulled at his muscles; he was sore and tired. He rubbed his waist.
Su Jingzhi, however, looked refreshed, seemingly rejuvenated in the snow. He ordered:
“Summon a military council!”
Central Command Tent, Military Council Area.
The generals of the expeditionary army had all changed into thick armor and cloaks. The generals, already tall and large, suddenly looked a whole size more imposing.
The False Prince of Chengen wore a hood, revealing only a pointed chin, sitting in a corner of the tent. His physique had no presence, but he was highly respected because he had directly brought the warmth.
Su Jingzhi deployed the strategic arrangement.
Wei Wanlan watched his boyfriend hold a meeting.
Because the wind had subsided, the war eagles on the front line resumed communication. An old eagle flew in, landing expertly on the crossbeam, extending its leg to the soldier, contributing the secret military intelligence sent by the scouts.
Then Su Jingzhi used a red wooden stick to point at the battle map:
“Ashina Shali avoided a direct confrontation with our army, turning instead to send troops to raid the tribes that rebelled against him. This heavy snow directly interrupted his looting plan. He is four hundred miles from the Royal Court, trapped in Iron Mountain gathering his troops.”
The tip of the wooden stick tapped the corresponding location on the map.
“Iron Mountain has similar terrain to the Yin Mountain Camp; it’s also a shelter from the snow. Gathering troops there prevents them from being uprooted by the blizzard. Ashina Shali can only be in this one place. He can’t move.”
Tang Tuan suddenly scratched his head and asked, “Boss, why?”
This time Li Jiucheng reacted faster than him, clapping his hands and laughing: “Haha, he has no equipment. He can only cower. He can’t survive the winter!”
The entire military tent instantly understood.
The generals bowed in unison to the little Emperor “far away in Chang’an”:
“His Majesty is wise.”
The Emperor, right before their eyes, took a sip of the broken-leaf tea that didn’t taste good in the military camp—it was a bit bitter—and switched to eating snacks, hiding his merit and fame.
Su Jingzhi continued the topic:
“The Iron Mountain Camp only has solid barracks, and the terrain is fairly defensible. Ashina Shali’s troops have all lost combat power due to the heavy snow. If we can breach the camp in one stroke, this man will surely be defeated!”
Su Jingzhi’s words drew slight nods from the generals.
Tang Tuan only then caught up with the rhythm, murmuring: “Kick him while he’s down?”
“Correct.” Su Jingzhi put down the wooden stick and ordered steadily, “Cavalry will brave the snow to raid the Iron Mountain Camp.”
Although there were risks, but…
What did the Wei army have to fear with their equipment?
They were fighting exactly these people who weren’t prepared for winter!
Moreover, Ashina Shali had no idea that Great Wei had already prepared for winter. With such heavy snow outside, he might think the Regent King was also cowering in the Yin Mountain Camp with freezing hands and feet.
The raid plan received unanimous approval. After all, the opportunity was rare; missing it might allow the enemy soldiers to recover.
Su Jingzhi ordered:
“Three thousand light cavalry assemble immediately. Depart for Iron Mountain in half a quarter. All generals, return to your tents to prepare. Li Jiucheng—”
“This subordinate is here!”
“Accompany This King.”
“This subordinate obeys!”
“Tang Tuan.”
“This subordinate is here too!”
“Stay and guard the Yin Mountain Camp. Be ready to advance at any time. You must ensure the safety of the Prince of Chengen.”
“This subordinate obeys.” It was just that this military order was a bit strange. Tang Tuan froze slightly. The Boss usually took him everywhere, never leaving his side. This time, he arranged a stable rear job for him.
Although the rear was also important, but… real men should charge to the front.
Also, this Prince of Chengen felt suddenly important.
Tang Tuan couldn’t say what was wrong. Doubts were in his heart, but he didn’t dare ask more. He cupped his fists and bowed, then quickly retreated.
Only Su Jingzhi and Wei Wanlan were left in the tent.
Having watched the entire military council, Wei Wanlan deeply realized Su Jingzhi’s core status in the army again. He felt honored. With half a pot of tea, he finished less than half a plate of snacks. The snacks were specially made for him by the supply department, a little special treatment for the great hero.
Wei Wanlan licked the crumbs off his fingertips. His hood was lifted by Su Jingzhi, revealing bright eyes. He looked a bit mischievous, opening his big eyes: “Then what does Zhen do?”
Su Jingzhi spoke warmly, his tone always unable to help sounding like he was coaxing him:
“You stay here. Enjoy the snow, gather around the stove for barbecue, eat and drink well.”
“Isn’t it bad not to contribute effort?”
“Then do you want to go to the front line with This King?”
Wei Wanlan knew his own level. Going to the battlefield was just delivering himself on a platter, and might distract Su Jingzhi, who would have to worry about him while fighting.
He wouldn’t go and drag them down. Wei Wanlan shook his head: “Zhen will wait for you here.”
Thinking for a moment, he added: “Zhen will handle logistics well for you. Our country had a bumper harvest. Zhen can now have Chang’an express deliver freshly made rice cakes. Cakes even more delicious than this plate.”
Su Jingzhi: “Stop.”
Sometimes he really felt Wei Wanlan was his little lucky star, incredibly cute.
But he still seriously stopped him. Because of Wei Wanlan’s existence, the murderous aura in the military camp had dissipated quite a bit.
Su Jingzhi explained patiently to Wei Wanlan: “We are at war.”
“Zhen knows.”
Wei Wanlan was thinking, however, that he watched the news, and China’s military rations included Kung Pao Chicken, Fish-Flavored Shredded Pork… guaranteeing a balance of meat, eggs, and milk every day. Great Wei’s current food standard could only be considered passable; there was still much room for improvement.
Su Jingzhi pinched his nose, interrupting his wandering thoughts: “Be good. When we win, I’ll take you back to Chang’an. No more nonsense.”
“Oh.”
【Host has further advanced Mission Three.】
Wei Wanlan nodded. Then he would just have to accept the joy of leeching experience.
“I’ll sort you out when I get back.” Su Jingzhi rubbed his head lovingly. The hint was blatantly clear. Wei Wanlan’s small face burned hot, feeling like he couldn’t sit still on the chair.
Half a quarter of an hour passed faster than flowing water. The cavalry was ready, and the soldiers departed in silence with gags in their mouths.
Wei Wanlan wore his hood again and came outside the main tent to see them off.
The wind and snow were ankle-deep. Walking was met with great resistance, and he was a bit tired. Just recovered from a wind-chill, his physical strength rapidly consumed in those two days. Wei Wanlan suddenly really wanted to lie down. His stomach rumbled.
“So hungry.”
Even though he just ate snacks. But, he really wanted something sweet.
