Chapter 27: Estrus part 1
Duan Ke successfully reconciled with Qin Huai, resolving a worry, and slept exceptionally sweetly last night.
Qin Huai’s room had a large floor-to-ceiling window. Sunlight poured in, landing on Duan Ke’s eyelashes, feeling a bit tingly and comfortable.
Duan Ke was woken up. He wiggled a few times under the blanket, opened his eyes reluctantly, and reached out to the side.
The sheets beside him were already cold; Qin Huai had gotten up long ago.
Duan Ke’s brain hadn’t booted up yet. He didn’t notice that his action of reaching out to touch someone seemed overly natural. He retracted his hand and wanted to sleep again.
…
So bloated, so sore. What’s going on.
Duan Ke closed his eyes uncomfortably, humming twice. Instinctively reaching down, he covered his lower abdomen. It had been really disobedient these past few days.
But he groggily realized that the part feeling uncomfortable wasn’t that part.
It was… a little further down.
Sleepiness vanished instantly. Duan Ke snapped his eyes open, flinging the blanket aside to look down.
After repeatedly confirming there were no terrifying traces, he heaved a huge sigh of relief.
Thank goodness, just a reaction. I didn’t wet Qin Huai’s sheets.
Duan Ke felt lingering fear.
Although Duan Ke had just come of age, as a succubus, he knew all too well exactly how extreme his body’s sensitivity was.
He probably would have been like a little faucet, completely ruining Qin Huai’s sheets.
That would be too embarrassing. Duan Ke could evaporate from awkwardness just imagining it. He lay flat, covering his stomach, waiting for it to calm down on its own.
After his body fully returned to normal, Duan Ke rubbed against Qin Huai’s pillow for a few more minutes before dawdling out of bed. He saw a key on the bedside table.
Duan Ke picked it up. Hanging from it was a small plush cat head—it was his house key.
Did Qin Huai actually find the key for me?
I probably dropped it somewhere in Qin Huai’s house due to carelessness.
Being thought of like this made Duan Ke’s heart feel sour and soft, as if silently poked. He carefully put the key in his pocket and left the room.
On the simple dining table in Qin Huai’s home was a breakfast: sunny-side-up eggs with toast and a glass of milk with a little sugar added. It was food Duan Ke liked, and just the right portion for him to finish.
Duan Ke didn’t stand on ceremony. He took a photo with his phone and sent it to Qin Huai, said “Thank you, Brother,” and started using the knife and fork.
[Duan Ke, heat it up before eating.]
Duan Ke paused mid-eating and opened the vibrating phone. Qin Huai’s message arrived perfectly on time; a second later and Duan Ke would have put the toast in his mouth.
Duan Ke sent a “nodding kitten” sticker and walked to the kitchen with the plate. Qin Huai’s call came through unexpectedly.
“Morning,” Qin Huai greeted naturally in a flat voice.
“Morning, Brother,” Duan Ke responded with a smile.
It was their first phone call, yet it wasn’t awkward at all. Duan Ke put the plate in the microwave and set the time, hearing the beeping of instruments from Qin Huai’s end.
He asked curiously, “Brother, are you working? Reading documents?”
Qin Huai’s tone was calm, his hand operating ceaselessly on the screen: “Mn.”
Duan Ke took a bite of the sunny-side-up egg. The perfectly cooked runny yolk overflowed in his mouth, delicious enough to make him squint.
He swallowed the food and couldn’t help asking, “What work do you do, Brother? If it’s convenient, can you tell me? I’m a little curious.”
Although Qin Huai never mentioned his profession, Duan Ke had been curious for a long time.
Qin Huai’s aura seemed very different from other humans, and he was calm and composed in emergencies. His job must be a very impressive one among humans, right?
Duan Ke chewed on the runny yolk, secretly anticipating.
Qin Huai held the phone in one hand, looking at the list of monsters awaiting execution he had just approved on the screen in front of him, silent.
“…Civil servant.”
Qin Huai picked his words carefully while leaning back in his chair. “Can’t go into details.”
“Oh, oh.” Confidential. Duan Ke immediately expressed understanding.
They chatted about this and that, sometimes falling silent to do their own things, but neither hung up.
Duan Ke finished breakfast and checked the time, telling Qin Huai regretfully that he had to go to class.
“Mn.”
There was no regret in Qin Huai’s tone. He asked naturally, “When do you finish class today? I’ll pick you up.”
“…Eh? No need.”
Duan Ke walked out of Qin Huai’s house and closed the door, speaking confusedly as he walked, saying he could go home by himself.
After all, the apartment and the school were very close, just a five or six-minute walk. Did he need someone to pick him up?
Qin Huai smiled and reminded him, “It’s Monday today.”
Monday?
What about Monday?
Duan Ke remained perplexed. He confusedly opened the phone calendar, wanting to see what important human holiday it was, but found a countdown that had already reset to zero.
…!!
Duan Ke instantly realized. His face flushed red, and his speech became stuttered.
“Oh… okay. I finish class at 5:30 today… Can I wait for you at the school gate, Brother?”
“Okay. Be safe on the way. See you tonight.”
Hanging up the phone, Duan Ke stood frozen for a few seconds before pressing the elevator button like a wind-up robot.
During the short journey from home to school, his mind was filled with Qin Huai’s low “See you tonight,” and he almost walked straight into a tree.
Monday… was indeed special.
It was the weekly kissing day he had agreed upon with Qin Huai.
Duan Ke was rarely distracted in class.
Most of the day had passed, and he was still recalling what happened this morning. The more he thought about it, the more wrong it felt.
Monday is indeed feeding day, but… what’s so special about it??
Right, Duan Ke sluggishly figured it out, there’s nothing special about this kind of thing! What am I getting shy about? So weird.
Kissing is just a way of feeding. To a succubus, it seems no different from eating or drinking water.
Brother Qin Huai’s attitude is also strange.
Just a routine kiss—is it necessary to remind me specifically, and even come to school to pick me up?
We could feed after going home at night; it could be solved in two minutes.
Duan Ke was a succubus who liked to get to the bottom of things. Treating the teacher’s droning lecture as background noise, he rested his chin in his hands and contemplated.
A little figure in his mind was carefully flipping through his “Keeper Observation Log.”
He wasn’t scared like other humans when seeing my kitten tail. He wasn’t scared when I attacked him through the window during my heat; instead, he comforted me very well.
Why would such a person care so much about kissing?
Duan Ke propped his hands on the desk, unconsciously biting his lower lip in deep thought, and recalled a previous scene.
When Qin Huai requested to change once a week to twice, it was because he knew Duan Ke’s body had developed secondarily and his appetite had increased, so kissing once might leave him hungry.
My keeper is just too responsible!
Duan Ke instantly got starry-eyed, punching his left hand into his right palm.
Right! How could I not understand? Brother Qin Huai attaches so much importance to this matter, obviously because he’s too responsible.
He’s worried I won’t do the feeding properly. He cares too much, so it seems a bit deliberate.
Duan Ke came to the correct conclusion. His kitten tail was about to perk up, extremely proud, and he couldn’t wait to verify it with someone experienced.
He opened his phone and messaged Xu Jue.
Duan Ke: [Kitten Knocking.jpg]
Duan Ke: [Brother Xu Jue, do you have time now? Can I ask you a few questions about keepers?]
Xu Jue replied quickly.
[Lord Duan Ke, I’m just about to enter the cinema.]
[Might be a bit late, I’ll call you back after the movie.]
Duan Ke clicked on the photo Xu Jue sent. It was a hand holding two movie ticket stubs, obviously going with a keeper. The title was long; Duan Ke backed out without looking closely.
Duan Ke: [Okay, won’t disturb you then. Go watch the movie quickly.]

Xu Jue glanced at the long queue, feeling he would miss the opening if he didn’t go in. He typed hurriedly: [Lord Duan Ke, if you’ve restored your relationship with your keeper, you can also do some mood-lifting things with him. That way, he’ll taste better when you eat.]
