Chapter 4: How to Eat
Qin Huai calmly looked Duan Ke’s extremely scantily clad figure up and down, then said coolly, “Why do I need to shower?”
A solitary man and a solitary demon, in a one-bedroom apartment, in the dead of night.
What else could it be for?
But Qin Huai still wanted to struggle a bit.
“To prepare for feeding. Didn’t you agree to be my keeper?”
Duan Ke gazed at him innocently with his round, blunt eyes, blinking expectantly. “You’ll be cleaner after washing, and you’ll taste better.”
Qin Huai: “.”
Very straightforward. He wants to eat people.
The struggle failed. Qin Huai’s face, usually as calm as a machine, finally showed a trace of imperceptible stiffness. He took a step back to create distance from Duan Ke, as if the boy standing before him, who was more than a head shorter, was some kind of ferocious beast.
But Duan Ke clearly didn’t understand his behavior. He excitedly took a step forward, getting close to Qin Huai again. “Go on, go on. I’ll wait for you.”
Duan Ke was a little picky eater with high standards for his food.
For example…
When a human was in a state of extreme joy, or even reaching an extremely intense sexual climax, their vitality was the most delicious. It would make the feeding succubus unable to stop, crying and begging for more.
Of course, Duan Ke wasn’t a greedy succubus. He didn’t expect the keeper he just picked up to reach that state to feed him.
Based on Duan Ke’s years of experience observing humans, they often became inexplicably excited while showering.
When he lived in the dorms, the bathroom was communal. Dozens of shower stalls were lined up side by side; you couldn’t see each other, but you could hear. Every time he showered, he could hear the humans next door singing and dancing, some even cheering for themselves as their own audience, as if they had stumbled into a superstar’s concert.
Humans became happy when they showered, and when they were happy, their taste improved.
Duan Ke looked up at Qin Huai with starry eyes, silently urging him. But he saw Qin Huai didn’t move. His dark eyes lowered slightly as he reached out and gently pinched the two corners of Duan Ke’s bath towel, wrapping him up tightly like a baby and even tying a sturdy knot.
Duan Ke’s bath towel was large. Now wrapped up, only his wet, fluffy head was exposed. He stared brightly at the man, refusing to look away, as if he were relying on him completely.
Watching this, Qin Huai let out an imperceptible, light sigh and said indifferently, “Go put your clothes on first.”
Duan Ke: “You go shower first. by the time you’re done, I’ll be changed.”
Qin Huai: “…You go put them on first.”
Duan Ke: “I’ll go put them on once you enter the bathroom.”
Qin Huai still didn’t move. No matter how little Duan Ke understood humans, he sensed his keeper’s anomaly at this moment. He took a step back. His head, wrapped in the towel, tilted slightly as he stared suspiciously at Qin Huai.
“Are you trying to sneak away… I heard you walking toward the door just now. I thought you were leaving, so I ran out in a hurry. Were you really going to leave?”
Was this keeper lying to him? Does he not want to feed him at all?
But why lie to him? Just to tease him?
Duan Ke suddenly remembered that last month, before he awakened, he was hoodwinked by a senior at school into confusingly signing up for a phone plan with exorbitant fees and tiny data limits. At the time, he swore he would never be tricked by bad humans again.
He didn’t expect that only a month later, another bad human was here to trick him?
Duan Ke was already dizzy from hunger and weak in the limbs; he was at his most psychologically fragile. With new grievances piling on old grudges, a flood of grievance overwhelmed him.
His pretty, round face scrunched up, his fine eyebrows bending into a figure-eight shape. He stared at Qin Huai with red-rimmed eyes, took another step back, and hung his head in silence.
He was obviously angry and aggrieved, yet he didn’t utter a single word of complaint, just silently suffering on his own.
Like a little stray cat that had been beaten outside but just crouched down to endure the pain.
Qin Huai: “……………………..”
His brow furrowed slightly in thought, his expression a bit subtle.
Living a life of blade-licking danger for years, his footsteps were extremely light when near monsters; even highly trained soldiers would struggle to detect them. Yet Duan Ke could hear them through several doors and determine his location.
The power of the Progenitor Succubus was indeed more unfathomable than he had thought.
…And clearly, I’m the one about to be eaten. Why is this monster acting aggrieved?
Qin Huai was adept at dealing with greedy, cruel monsters filled with malice toward humans. The number of top-tier monsters he had handled was countless. But a top-tier monster like Duan Ke, fluffy and seemingly ready to cry at the slightest slight, was something he had truly never seen.
And he really didn’t know how to deal with such a fragile, cotton-like creature. previously, when Lin Jiangli’s cat gave birth to a few palm-sized kittens, he happily brought them to the Bureau to show off. But those kittens climbed all over Qin Huai as if their lives depended on it, completely treating their biological grandfather as air.
Qin Huai stood expressionlessly as a cat tree, enduring the discomfort of contact with living creatures without pushing the cats away, because he felt that if he moved, the cats might be crushed.
Of course, it couldn’t be ruled out that the Progenitor Succubus was feigning pity, using high-end acting to garner sympathy so he could bite back when Qin Huai’s guard was down.
But…
Qin Huai looked at Duan Ke’s drooping figure-eight eyebrows, fell silent for a few seconds, looked straight into Duan Ke’s eyes, and said indifferently, “I don’t have a change of clothes, so I can’t shower. Is it okay to feed you directly?”
Let’s just see what he intends to do for now.
If Duan Ke really planned to kill him during feeding, it would count as catching him in the act. The Inquisitor had the right to execute monsters that wantonly exposed malice on the spot.
This sentence made Duan Ke’s bonelessly drooping head shoot up. “Mhm, mhm, okay. Then feed me first.”
Duan Ke trotted forward da-da-da, his nose almost crashing directly into the lapel of Qin Huai’s chest. His eyes were no longer red as he looked up and licked his crimson lips.
“I’m really hungry; making do with a meal first is fine too. You can shower next time you feed me!”
Qin Huai: “.”
I forgot. I have to face this terrifying thing once a week.
He looked at Duan Ke expressionlessly and asked with slight hesitation, “How do you intend… to eat.”
This was a question, a big question.
If the method Duan Ke spoke of was truly as… ferocious as the files Lin Jiangli sent described, then no matter how pitiful Duan Ke acted, Qin Huai would absolutely turn and leave.
Duan Ke was actually thinking about this question too. He had always used charm magic to feed indirectly before. He had only fed via physical contact once, and that was in the distant era when he was an unformed black ball.
Moreover, Duan Ke was a bit antisocial and didn’t know many monsters. He hadn’t witnessed how other succubi fed; he only relied on instinct telling him that he had to engage in intimate acts with humans to obtain delicious fluids.
So what kind of intimate act specifically?
What intimate act could obtain human fluids?
Duan Ke looked Qin Huai up and down. From his deep, handsome features to his prominent Adam’s apple, and finally to his firm, powerful body honed by years of frontline combat and disciplined training.
He hesitated, rubbed the tip of his nose gently against Qin Huai’s lapel, looked up, and tentatively asked in a soft voice, “How about… we kiss?”
[Author’s Note] Not long after, Qin Huai: Once a week is a bit too little, baby.
