Chapter 5: Does It Hurt
Qin Huai remained expressionless and calmly refused: “No.”
He looked down at Duan Ke, who was leaning too close, and helplessly realized he was almost becoming immune to this succubus’s clinginess.
He rationally pointed out the logical loophole in Duan Ke’s story: “Aren’t you a cat? Why would a cat need to kiss people to eat?”
R-Right!
Duan Ke’s eyes widened instantly. He looked left and right guiltily, unconsciously tightening his hold on the fluffy bath towel wrapped around him.
Feeding through kissing seemed to be a method used only by succubi. If he were a cat demon, he should probably feed on human anger by knocking things over, or gain dominance points by making humans willingly shovel poop with a cute voice and toe beans.
He had forgotten the lie he told earlier to trick the keeper into taking the bait, subconsciously assuming the man knew he was a succubus.
Duan Ke! You were really, really too careless! What if you get exposed!
In his mind, he pinched his own cheek and shook it viciously.
Making up for a lie often required countless more absurd lies—this was another important conclusion Duan Ke had drawn from observing humans. Even though lying was troublesome and didn’t fit Duan Ke’s personality, for the sake of a beautiful meal, Duan Ke could accept it. He frantically tried to cover it up.
“…Kittens are supposed to kiss humans!” Duan Ke’s eyes darted around, daring not to look directly at Qin Huai.
“Haven’t you seen videos of little pets? Before people feed kittens, the kittens will actively rub against the humans. Kittens need to snuggle with humans to be happy!”
That’s just an act cats put on to scam food. Most cats turn their backs and ignore people after eating.
Qin Huai, unlike Duan Ke, did not have much empathy. He thought expressionlessly, Cats aren’t loyal to their masters like dogs. As long as there’s food, a stray cat can show its belly and wink at eight hundred people a day. completely unconscionable little things.
Speaking of which.
Qin Huai seemed to think of something. Frowning, he pulled away until his back hit the wall.
He hesitated but couldn’t help asking, “Is this how you’ve always… ‘fed’ before?”
He paused before the next sentence, as if words related to lust were difficult to say.
“Every time you were hungry, you’d just find a random person… and kiss them?”
Duan Ke didn’t expect him to ask this and froze for a moment.
His hunger-racked body, dissatisfied with the delicious scent on Qin Huai moving away, unknowingly stepped forward two paces to get closer.
If a third person were present, they would see the posture of the two: Duan Ke, over ten centimeters shorter, had practically forced the tall, broad-shouldered Qin Huai against the wall, almost crashing into his embrace.
But Duan Ke clearly had no self-awareness of this. He simply wanted to be close to the incredibly good-smelling food.
He looked up and answered obediently, “Oh, no. Before, I could use magic to eat human vitality indirectly.”
Speaking of this, Duan Ke remembered that heartless ban again.
One must know, succubi were unlike other races. Other races couldn’t use magic on humans, and they’d just be unhappy; forbidding a succubus like Duan Ke, who had no keeper, from using charm magic on humans would mean starving to death!
Duan Ke secretly ground his small fangs. His eyes narrowed in displeasure as he said resentfully:
“Originally, I could eat indirectly. But now… a super, super annoying leader won’t let me use magic, so I can only find a keeper.”
“And you weren’t found randomly; I was very serious! You and I are one-on-one!”
After all, searching the globe with a lantern for three years wouldn’t yield such a capable human.
Any succubus would be unable to pass up the possibility of turning Qin Huai into a keeper, let alone the currently ravenous Duan Ke.
Hearing Duan Ke’s words, Qin Huai’s face remained impassive, but his heart sank slightly.
A leader of top-tier monsters.
…It seems Duan Ke indeed isn’t as pure and harmless as he looks.
Since Qin Huai took over the Bureau, many top-tier monsters could no longer act recklessly and had begun to cooperate with each other.
Monsters revered strength. Those with greater power and seniority held higher status and could issue orders to those below them.
Although Duan Ke was very powerful, he had just awakened, so it was perfectly normal for his status in the organization to be low.
Was he bullied by a powerful peer, unable to feed normally, which led to him fainting from hunger and then seeking me out?
If so, all his abnormal behaviors make sense.
Qin Huai’s gaze toward Duan Ke darkened. He scrutinized him imperceptibly, as if trying to pluck a flaw from the succubus’s seamless guise of innocence.
If that’s the case, I really must seize this opportunity to get close.
Qin Huai lowered his eyes, recalling the file Lin Jiangli had sent earlier.
He had a good memory, never forgetting what he saw. He quickly recalled that the food mentioned therein referred to “fluids.”
Including blood.
Without hesitation, Qin Huai steadily stepped past Duan Ke, who was leaning very close. He walked expressionlessly to Duan Ke’s small, milky-yellow coffee table, picked up the fruit knife lying there, and sliced open his forearm, which had a beautiful muscle shape.
Long-term, disciplined training made the veins on Qin Huai’s arms very distinct. once sliced, the veins and vessels severed abruptly, and gushing fresh blood immediately seeped from the wound.
Qin Huai simply wiped the blood from the small knife with his thumb, walked over, and placed his forearm against Duan Ke’s lips. His voice was deep and steady: “Eat.”
Duan Ke was dumbfounded.
He hadn’t expected to question how Qin Huai knew he could consume blood. instead, he anxiously reached out and pinched the bleeding forearm, so agitated he was about to jump.
“What are you doing! This…” How is this okay?
Duan Ke couldn’t finish his sentence.
The instinct to feed instantly seized control of his body. His gaze shifted downward, fixed dead on Qin Huai’s bleeding forearm, his look tangible.
He reached out to cover his mouth, biting hard into the soft flesh of his palm to prevent himself from making a sound. The small part of Duan Ke’s face not covered by his hand, along with his ears, turned abnormally red. From Qin Huai’s perspective, he could even see the fair skin between Duan Ke’s body and the towel turning red all over like a ripe lychee.
…
Just because of my blood?
It seems he really was starving. He must have been bullied and dared not resist, not having had a proper meal for a long time.
Qin Huai shouldn’t have softened his heart for a mission target unrelated to him, especially one who was a top-tier monster with unclear intentions.
But he still reached out, lowered his eyes, and with his uninjured hand, gently supported the back of Duan Ke’s frozen head, bringing his lips close to his forearm before quickly letting go.
“Open your mouth.” Qin Huai’s eyes were dark. “Aren’t you hungry?”
At first, Duan Ke still didn’t move. Helpless, Qin Huai coaxed him in a low voice and moved his arm closer to make it easier for him to reach.
Duan Ke seemed to stop resisting. Very, very slowly, he moved the hand covering his face away.
The boy’s movements were so slow they seemed frame-by-frame. Not because he was unwilling, but because this body no longer belonged to him; it belonged to his keeper. It was truly difficult for him to control it.
Finally feeding. Qin Huai relaxed slightly inside.
Compared to pain, doing other more intimate things with Duan Ke was far more unacceptable to him. Losing blood once a week wasn’t a big deal to him; it was trivial compared to completing the mission.
Qin Huai quietly waited for Duan Ke to consume his blood. His body tensed slightly due to an instinctive resistance to intimate contact, but he endured it, his expression remaining calm.
But to his surprise, Duan Ke didn’t do it.
Moving slowly, as if dropping frames, Duan Ke averted his gaze from Qin Huai’s forearm with great difficulty. He was like a small robot with aging parts; this simple movement consumed too much of his willpower.
Qin Huai could read lips and easily made out the mouth shape Duan Ke formed with great difficulty through his tears.
Does… it… hurt?
Duan Ke looked at him quietly.
…
In the small rental apartment, they stood facing each other. A quiet, ambiguous atmosphere spread between the two people standing very close.
Duan Ke couldn’t stand anymore. His legs went limp. fighting his instincts had drained the last bit of magic in his body. His vision went black, and he felt he was about to lose consciousness.
So hungry… I’m going to die.
Before this thought could pass, Duan Ke heard a very vague, almost inaudible sigh.
Then his body felt light. A strong, large hand wrapped around his towel-covered bottom and lifted him up like holding a child.
[Author’s Note] Kissing and creampies are like adding oil to the fire for these two. Truly lightning striking the earth fire; once it starts, it can’t stop. Oh ho ho ho ho ho [Rainbow Fart]
