Chapter 63 · Villain: X.X
It was already dusk when Duan Ke woke up.
He was lying on the familiar bed in the medical room, his lower abdomen covered by the quilt.
Every cell in his body radiated exhaustion. Duan Ke stared blankly out of the tall floor-to-ceiling window; the residual sunset presented an ominous blood-red color, with a few hoarse-voiced birds occasionally skimming past.
Less than two minutes after Duan Ke opened his eyes, a gentle kiss landed on his eyelashes.
His heart, which had been slightly suspended, settled down. Duan Ke stopped looking out the window, turning his head to exchange a quiet kiss with Qin Huai.
As they kissed, Duan Ke frowned slightly and patted Qin Huai’s shoulder lightly.
Qin Huai pulled back, picked Duan Ke up, and placed him on his lap to sit, face to face.
“What’s wrong?” Qin Huai’s voice carried an imperceptible hoarseness. “Where does it hurt?”
Duan Ke took Qin Huai’s hand and placed it on his own lower abdomen, feeling carefully.
That place, which was always full, even often overly bloated, was now empty; he couldn’t feel a single bit of magic power.
“I’m so hungry.”
Duan Ke couldn’t even release his succubus horns. “No matter how I kiss you, I can’t eat any magic power… so strange.”
Refusing to believe it, Duan Ke rubbed against Qin Huai and took the initiative to kiss him again.
His hands had no strength, resting softly on Qin Huai’s shoulders. His still unskilled tongue tip tried hard to extend into Qin Huai’s mouth, attempting to obtain some familiar taste.
But it didn’t work.
Duan Ke realized with grievance that although Qin Huai still tasted very good, he couldn’t eat any magic power at all.
What was going on?
Qin Huai could feel the little guy’s restlessness and patted his back gently to soothe him.
The conjecture from a few hours ago had come true. Qin Huai sighed low in his heart.
This overly cold-hearted officer would only announce missions to subordinates, never explaining the origin and motivation of plans.
But Duan Ke received an overly sufficient amount of patience from this person.
Qin Huai played with Duan Ke’s fingers one by one, explaining the current phenomenon to him in a very calm voice.
“Five hours ago, that monster dug out a part of his feeding organ with his own hands,” Qin Huai said.
One way was feeding through monsters, the other was feeding through humans.
“And He cut out the part of the organ required for ‘feeding through humans’.”
Qin Huai’s eyes were slightly lowered, preventing Duan Ke from seeing his expression clearly.
“You can still smell my scent, but… you can no longer obtain magic power from me, baby.”
toward the end, the force of Qin Huai pinching Duan Ke’s fingers became slightly heavier.
Although he wasn’t a monster, he could also feel…
The firm mark that had existed on the back of his neck for many years was slowly fading, and the link with Duan Ke was being completely severed.
Duan Ke didn’t think too much, just feeling wow, this compatriot was really ruthless; just thinking about digging open his own stomach gave him nightmares.
Duan Ke rested his hand on Qin Huai’s back, half-leaning on him. Hunger made the little succubus lazy enough to only want to go soft on his lover, his voice sticky, his cheek bulging with a bit of soft flesh from being squished.
“Then what do we do…”
If only that thing wasn’t fate-linked to him, Qin Huai could kill him in two or three moves.
But facts proved it wouldn’t work; this monster could only be killed by Duan Ke himself, otherwise it would be a life for a life.
Then he needed to take some magic power from a monster now, right?
Duan Ke thought for a moment, reached out and poked Qin Huai. “Can you help me call Heracles over?”
Heracles was the most notorious S-class monster in the entire West, and they had a good relationship; borrowing magic power from him couldn’t be more suitable.
Qin Huai seemed to approve of this as well.
But he didn’t act immediately. Instead, he swept a glance over Duan Ke’s gleaming white neck, seeing the dense hickeys on it.
He stared for many seconds before moving his gaze away with darkened eyes.
Qin Huai picked Duan Ke up and placed him on the bed, wrapping him tightly in the quilt.
“Wait.”
Duan Ke instinctively felt Qin Huai’s tone was a bit stifled, but didn’t ask much. He hugged the quilt and nodded obediently.
Hurried footsteps approached quickly. Heracles opened the door to the medical room and immediately turned around to lock it, as if something unclean would fly in if he was a second late.
When Heracles turned around, Duan Ke saw something flash on his face.
When he walked closer, only then did Duan Ke see clearly. His good friend was holding a ruby in his mouth.
The size was so large he had only seen it in auction photos.
“Wow…”
Duan Ke also liked shiny things and subconsciously reached out to take it for a look.
Heracles raised an eyebrow and swallowed the gem right in front of him.
Crunch crunch chewing sounds were heard.
“…” Duan Ke couldn’t close his mouth.
Several hundred million, swallowed as a snack???
The shock in Duan Ke’s eyes was undisguised, watching helplessly as Heracles took out an emerald from his pocket and ate it with a crunch.
His pupils weren’t the usual emerald green, but golden-red vertical slits.
If Duan Ke looked closely, he could see tiny scales behind Heracles’ ears too. It indicated that Heracles was now releasing his true form instead of human form, no longer suppressing his overly powerful magic.
“Didn’t you want to swallow some of my magic?”
Heracles sat by the bed. “Swallow. My magic is very strong now; swallow enough at once, then go finish off that counterfeit.”
Duan Ke blinked; it seemed these people had already discussed it while he was in a coma.
Duan Ke hadn’t tried eating indirectly for a long time and was still a bit unaccustomed.
He gently touched the tip of his tail on Heracles’ shoulder, swallowing the power from his own kind bit by bit.
Heracles felt a bit like he was having blood drawn; the magic just eaten into his stomach drained away little by little.
The giant dragon’s thick, long eyelashes drooped slightly, ignoring the faint discomfort from his body, spacing out absent-mindedly.
When Duan Ke passed out… he clearly saw the pale gold magic mark on the kid’s stomach, exposed under the shirt hem for a few seconds.
…On this planet, probably no one knew better than Heracles what this pattern represented.
He had lived for thousands of years and only lost once in his life, falling into the hands of the previous monster who possessed this magic mark.
Almost died; lost all magic power.
Of course, if that monster had exposed malice to Heracles from the start, the cunning dragon certainly wouldn’t have been hurt.
The bad part was, that monster actually had a very good relationship with him initially; the loss of control was very sudden.
The surprise attack happened on a night when Heracles was fast asleep. When hands choked his neck, Heracles didn’t react at all, only thrashing his tail to slash back when he was about to suffocate.
Heracles resisted desperately to avoid dying at the other’s hands.
In the end, It still couldn’t suppress the monstrous killing intent brought by the magic mark, went to a small neighboring country, and almost wiped out the nation.
Of course, in the end, It died too. Encircled and suppressed by humans from the military academy, dying more miserably than Heracles losing all his magic.
Ancient emotions surfaced in Heracles’ chest. It wasn’t until Duan Ke didn’t move for a long time that Heracles snapped back to reality.
His expression didn’t change much, still that unchanging arrogant look of ten thousand years. “What?”
“…You are so bitter!”
Duan Ke scrunched up his small face, politely holding back the urge to spit peh peh.
“Heracles… are you in a very bad mood? Much bitterer than water stewed from a hundred bitter melons…”
Heracles’ face tensed for an instant, quickly saying no.
He chewed up another gem; the taste, sweet to him, filled his nasal cavity, and only then could Duan Ke barely swallow.
The hospital room was unusually quiet.
Duan Ke instinctively felt the atmosphere was wrong, glancing at Heracles very carefully.
“…Do you occasionally feel emotional loss of control?”
Heracles’ voice was a bit tight. Duan Ke didn’t know which aspect he was referring to, so he asked, “You mean when?”
“When the magic mark turns gold.”
Heracles looked down at Duan Ke’s lower abdomen. “Do you feel very… violent? The kind that is especially sudden and uncontrollable.”
Duan Ke recalled for a moment and shook his head.
Heracles gave an “Oh” and didn’t say anything more.
Duan Ke finished eating the magic, burped a bitter-melon-flavored burp, and regretted picking this friend from the West a little.
Maybe he still couldn’t adapt to “white people food”; it was really a bit hard to swallow… Duan Ke silently crossed out the plan to eat authentic Western food with Qin Huai in his mind.
Heracles didn’t care if his magic tasted good or not, looking down to send a message.
Qin Huai’s payment came through quickly. Looking at the many zeros, Heracles felt slightly better in his heart.
“Go, your boyfriend has already had people circle that counterfeit.”
Heracles stood up and patted his legs. “If fast, can resolve it tonight.”
Having swallowed another A-class monster whole, It felt the melting and wriggling of blurred flesh and blood in It’s mouth, yet the gloom in It’s heart wasn’t relieved in the slightest.
The other self was rushing over here; It could feel it.
Contrary to It’s expectations, Duan Ke actually chose to swallow other monsters too. Although his power hadn’t fully recovered, it was replenished.
Back then he refused to merge with It even if he died, but in the end, didn’t he do the same thing as It?
Twisted pleasure and uncontrollable anxiety filled Him. Violent magic destroyed the center of the burnt-to-ash forest once again.
Under the flying dust, the Dream Demon chased toward nearby monsters again, trying to enrich It’s power further at the last moment.
This was the old site of the military academy, the forest where Qin Huai participated in the military drill back then.
The periphery of the forest was already tightly surrounded by the soldier corps under the Inquisitor, encircling the Dream Demon and also trapping the powerfully magical monsters residing in this forest.
This was exactly what the Dream Demon intended.
As long as It swallowed enough monsters before Duan Ke arrived…
As It tore apart the monster in It’s mouth with sharp teeth once again, the sound of a powerful engine made the Dream Demon’s chewing motion pause. On the winding mountain road, a beam of cold white headlights shone through the fog, exceptionally conspicuous in the already darkened night.
He’s here.
The Dream Demon’s throat trembled strangely, swallowing the monster—still wailing—skin and bones into It’s stomach.
It could feel that It’s current magic power was undoubtedly stronger than Duan Ke’s, and much stronger at that.
After all, It had eaten clean the magic seeds within a hundred miles that had been cultivated for many years. How could Duan Ke achieve this within just over an hour of waking up?
This must be the last time; the Dream Demon’s premonition was stronger than ever before.
It couldn’t achieve it when born over a decade ago, couldn’t achieve it five years ago, but tonight, must be the moment of success.
It’s eyes trembled from extreme excitement.
The leaves rustled; no one seemed to be approaching nearby. The Dream Demon shrank It’s body, flying toward the Jeep flashing its hazard lights not far away at a speed invisible to any creature.
Just as It was about to arrive, It was intercepted. Before It could react, the Dream Demon was fiercely pressed to the ground by a very soft hand, making a boom sound!
Vision still dark, an extremely heavy fist attacked It’s vital point, smashing It fiercely into the ground!
Dizziness struck uncontrollably; there was a moment of blankness in the Dream Demon’s brain.
The night had turned completely dark; nothing should be visible in the already gloomy forest.
But two very bright light sources swayed in the Dream Demon’s vision. When they got close, only then did It realize it wasn’t an illusion.
It was Duan Ke’s eyes.
Already turned into complete vertical slits, the pupils expanding in the darkness.
“Don’t you like stealing other people’s things to attack me very much?”
Duan Ke hummed, “I’ll steal yours once too… My strength is already very great; expanding it three times is very scary, you know.”
Dense stinging pain attacked instantly; the Dream Demon fought back quickly.
It extended sharp claws, digging straight for Duan Ke’s eyes, but was accurately intercepted halfway, making a crisp crack sound.
…Visual Locking Skill.
With just a very brief contact, It’s skills and magic were almost sucked dry by Duan Ke.
“…”
The power gap had already determined the victory; the person nearby retracted the foot that wanted to step forward.
Qin Huai put away the panicked expression from a moment ago, retreating quietly into the shadows, staring calmly at the battlefield here.
Duan Ke choked the other’s neck.
It started to rain lightly in the dark night at some point; the smell of soil filled the nasal cavities of the people in the woods.
The Dream Demon’s sharp claws gripped Duan Ke’s arms tightly, making sounds with difficulty.
“Why… do you swallow power so fast…”
Residual sounds squeezed out from the throat, “You… wait a minute!! …If you swallow me, you will also…!”
Duan Ke froze.
The familiar villain threatening before death, but Duan Ke was really scared again. Could it be this ability had side effects he didn’t know about??
Duan Ke panicked a little bit; what if eating Him made him become like Him? He didn’t want to become this kind of irrational perverted demon killer…
Duan Ke loosened his hand slightly, wanting to wait for this thing to finish begging for mercy.
But with a crack, He turned into a hard little ball, thumped onto the ground, bounced, and the expression became “X.X”, exactly the same as when Little Black Ball passed out.
…
Just, died??
Duan Ke’s hand was still in place, his mouth in an “o” shape looking at the ground.
Died too simply!
Although both Heracles and Qin Huai said this thing wasn’t particularly strong, only able to copy skills, this HP bar was too brittle! He hadn’t even used any methods yet.
The night was quiet for a moment. Duan Ke squatted down, looking at the corpse of this guy who had entangled him for a long time and once made him covered in bruises, feeling quite complicated.
Who would have thought that the once invincible enemy would be resolved in two or three moves by the adult him?
Unprecedented relaxation spread through Duan Ke’s limbs. He smiled from the bottom of his heart, revealing very shallow pear blossom dimples.
However, Duan Ke didn’t let Him off easily, stomping this bad thing into the mud stomp stomp before turning around and walking toward his boyfriend.
Duan Ke very much wanted the Inquisitor to praise his exquisite combat skills, even though he just hit casually twice.
Lord Inquisitor naturally cooperated very well. He opened his arms slightly, waiting for his lover to throw himself into his embrace in the posture Duan Ke was very familiar with, seen every time he came out of the bathroom after a shower.
But not even two seconds later.
An accident happened.
Duan Ke suddenly stopped halfway, holding his head as if very dizzy, and squatted on the spot.
Qin Huai’s expression stagnated. He stepped forward quickly, picking the person up by the crook of his knees.
“Baby,” Qin Huai’s voice was relatively calm, “You…”
Qin Huai’s arms went empty; this made the officer’s expression change solidly. But before he could react, the soft touch on his palm made Qin Huai’s mind go blank for an instant.
…Why suddenly turn into a ball?
Didn’t he refuse to show it no matter what before?
Duan Ke-ball and Qin Huai looked at each other, freezing motionless; both parties were very nervous.
“What’s going on…?”
Duan Ke muttered to himself slowly, wriggling uncertainly on Qin Huai’s palm twice, then dazedly touched his succubus horns—soft.
Didn’t succeed in turning back into a human.
He tried wagging his tail again.
After trying many times, Duan Ke finally confirmed one thing in a breakdown…
He hugged his head with his short, small front limbs, his beady eyes widening in disbelief.
…He couldn’t turn back!
