Chapter 77: Sending Huo Chen on a Blind Date
Surprisingly, beneath Huo Chen’s cold and unfeeling exterior lay a hidden, passionate heart.
Of course, Lin Huaizhi wasn’t terribly surprised.
He was the Villain, after all.
It was normal for there to be a discrepancy with his appearance.
However, what he found a bit hard to handle was that after experiencing that kind of thing, Huo Chen seemed to have opened the door to a new world, wanting a round every now and then.
In short, they stayed together for five days.
Adding it all up, he spent basically four and a half of those days in bed.
He found the boyfriend himself, so if the guy’s drive was a bit vigorous, he had to endure it.
But the problem was Huo Chen was too vigorous. Lin Huaizhi’s throat was practically rasping like the concubine calling for “Baojuan” in that drama!
Seeing Huo Chen wake up early that day, looking like he was about to go out, Lin Huaizhi let out a long sigh of relief, thinking he could finally get a moment of respite.
But he still had to ask.
“Where are you going?”
Huo Chen tapped on his phone, sending a message to Zheng Xiuang to bring lunch over at noon. During this time, the calls from the two people at the old residence came one after another, but he ignored them all.
Lin Huaizhi heard the commotion too.
“Who is calling you?”
“Insignificant people.” Huo Chen put away his phone and felt Lin Huaizhi’s forehead. Seeing it wasn’t hot, he withdrew his hand. “You’ve had breakfast. Want to sleep a bit more?”
The man’s palm was large and warm.
Lin Huaizhi couldn’t help but nuzzle against it, his voice revealing an unconscious attachment.
“I’ll sleep after I send you off.”
Huo Chen’s eyes were dyed with warmth. “No need. Rest well. If nothing unexpected happens, I can come back tonight.”
“No, I’ll see you off.”
Lin Huaizhi was actually still a bit uncomfortable. Perhaps they had overdone it; he had started running a low fever yesterday. Although he felt much better today, his head was still a bit dizzy.
But compared to resting, what he wanted to do more now was send Huo Chen off.
Huo Chen couldn’t win against him, or perhaps he also wanted to stay with Lin Huaizhi a little longer, even if only for a short while.
“Let’s go then.”
It wasn’t until he put the man in the car that Lin Huaizhi started dawdling, not wanting to leave. The slight sense of relief he had felt about Huo Chen leaving turned into reluctance now that he faced the separation.
Huo Chen didn’t want to go either.
Perhaps because the relationship had become clear, his heart had become clear as well. All the various emotions for Lin Huaizhi, as well as the internal conflicts, now had an outlet because of the title of “boyfriend.”
He rolled the car window all the way down.
The man cupped the youth’s face and kissed him.
“It’s cold outside. Go back. I’ll return as soon as I finish my business.” He paused, then added, “Very soon.”
Lin Huaizhi couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“Before you said tonight, now it’s ‘very soon.’ What, are you coaxing me?”
Huo Chen smiled too.
“En, coaxing you.”
When they weren’t dating or committed, he only thought about how to flirt. Now that they were actually dating, Lin Huaizhi had become more melodramatic.
Maybe it was because they had been glued together for the past few days, but now that Huo Chen was really leaving, a wave of resistance rose from the bottom of his heart.
Sure enough, being in love makes people melodramatic.
One hour later.
Huo Chen finally arrived at the old residence.
The Huo family was an old-money clan. In Huo Chen’s great-grandfather’s generation, they were considered one of the top families in Dragon City. After that, they slowly declined. By his parents’ generation, they were about to fall out of the ranks of the wealthy elite.
This old mansion, which had existed since the Ming and Qing dynasties, had almost been sold off.
Huo Chen spent the first eighteen years of his life in this house. Of course, for Huo Chen, that time did not constitute any good memories.
Because of that unbearable life, he didn’t have a good impression of this invaluable old mansion either.
“Your wings have hardened now; you don’t even answer phone calls anymore.”
Li Meiqing, dressed in a cheongsam, sat elegantly and luxuriously on the sofa. As soon as Huo Chen entered the door, her sarcasm began.
“Hmph, you don’t even know who you relied on to achieve what you have today. Now you think you’re capable.”
“Just great!”
Huo Chengzhang’s attitude wasn’t much different from Li Meiqing’s. He held a teacup, took a leisurely sip of hot tea, and then slowly put down the cup, looking at Huo Chen with reproach.
“Look at you! Look how angry you’ve made your mother! Hurry up and apologize!”
The man had no expression from beginning to end.
There was a moment when he grew up that he did crave the things he never received as a child. But just because time passes doesn’t mean you have a better chance of obtaining what you couldn’t have.
Huo Chen had also suspected that perhaps he just wasn’t good enough, which was why he couldn’t ask for it.
But Lin Huaizhi told him that no matter what kind of person he was, even if he had a body full of bad temper and bad habits, he was worthy of being loved.
That missing part.
Lin Huaizhi ran over and stuffed it into his hands.
“If you have business with me, speak directly.”
The man’s attitude angered Li Meiqing again. She stood up abruptly and slapped Huo Chen hard across the face.
“You really are rebelling against the heavens!”
“Look at your attitude! Just because people outside call you ‘President,’ you think you’re all that? I had eight lifetimes of bad luck to give birth to a kid like you!”
Li Meiqing’s slap was heavy; Huo Chen tasted rust in his mouth.
Watching this scene, Huo Chengzhang didn’t show any disapproval. Instead, he calmly took another sip of tea, then joined Li Meiqing in condemning Huo Chen.
“Tell me, whose child is like you, giving your parents the cold shoulder as if we owe you millions?”
“Without us, where would you get the good life you have now?”
“Truly treating good intentions like donkey liver and lungs (ill will)!”
“Hurry up and apologize!”
This dialogue had occurred an unknown number of times. No matter the situation, it would always end with Huo Chen apologizing.
However, this time, the man did not compromise.
He stood his ground, his appearance neither humble nor arrogant, his eyes looking at them like two strangers. “Since there is nothing else, don’t call me over again in the future.”
“Stand right there!”
A tea bowl worth six figures shattered at Huo Chen’s feet, porcelain shards splashing. Huo Chengzhang’s voice followed immediately.
Huo Chen paused.
Seeing him stop, Li Meiqing softened her voice slightly. “I saw you on that romance show, getting hot and heavy with a man. The Huo family needs a hostess, and it needs descendants. What is this fooling around with a man? Don’t go anymore.”
The woman paused, then added, “A few days ago, I played cards with Mrs. Sun. She has a daughter about your age who says she doesn’t have a boyfriend. I looked at the photo, and she matches you quite well. I’ve already made an appointment for you. Go have dinner with her tonight.”
“If she looks acceptable, then get engaged early. You aren’t young anymore; it’s time to have a child. Your dad and I can help you look after it then.”
