HIS PHEROMONE SMELLS LIKE CATNIP chapter 69.2

Part 2

Nan Yu gazed into Bai He’s eyes, holding both of Bai He’s hands. His eyes seemed to contain warm jade. His voice was soft, like a spring breeze brushing past the ear, making one feel incredibly comfortable and safe. “I love Qin Yao very much, and I love Diandian very much. Whether they are alphas or omegas, I will cherish them all my life. I used to wish for an omega child, and I still do now.”

Bai He looked at Nan Yu in a trance, his heart feeling wrapped in a warm current. This feeling was rare—at least for him. Care from an elder was something he had never possessed.

“But I…” Bai He started to speak subconsciously. Nan Yu and the others knew about his origins.

“I wasn’t originally an omega, only because I came here…” Bai He lowered his eyes.

“Why are you so silly?”

Nan Yu laughed, gently tapping Bai He on the head. “Now is now. Since you came here, you are a person of this place. You weren’t before, that was before. Now you are.”

Realizing he sounded like he was speaking in tongue twisters, Nan Yu laughed. He pulled Bai He to sit on the soft bench nearby and spoke softly, “What I mean is, the past is the past. We have to look at the present. I wanted an omega child, but what I, your Brother Nan, mean is that I hope you will become my child. Whether you are an omega or not, I will be very happy. Qin Yao likes you, and we all like you very much.”

Bai He felt very embarrassed hearing this. He knew Mr. Nan was gentle, but experiencing it personally felt so different. Bai He’s eyes grew hot, and he didn’t know what to say.

Nan Yu would never let a conversation die. He tidied Bai He’s hair, looked up, and then rather mischievously messed it up again—though it actually looked better that way.

“On New Year’s Eve, you accepted that brat’s proposal. I don’t care about anything else; you are my child now.”

Bai He suddenly looked up, his face heating up. “Brother Nan, how… how did you know about that night…?”

“Qin Yao ordered the ring a while ago. It was easy to guess.” Nan Yu pulled Bai He by the hand to the full-length mirror. He stood behind Bai He, pressing on his shoulders as they looked into the mirror. “Look, so beautiful. That kid really got lucky.”

Bai He looked at himself in the mirror. He found it incredible. The person inside was him—the same as before, yet somehow different.

Nan Yu met Bai He’s gaze through the mirror, smiling. He said softly, “Bai He, the hardships of the past twenty-something years have come to an end. Throw away those unhappy and bad memories. From now on, many people will accompany you, understand?”

Bai He’s nose stung, and his eyes unwittingly turned red. He turned his head back, lips pressed tight, looking at the gentle-faced Nan Yu. It felt as if he had a multitude of words to say, ready to burst out in an instant. Too much bitterness transformed, in the end, into a single, low, soft call.

“Brother Nan…”

Nan Yu stepped forward and hugged Bai He, who had buried his head. “I’m here. Brother Nan is here.”

With a sudden turn of events, the bird circling in the lonely sky had finally found a place to land.

Downstairs, Qin Yao paced back and forth in the living room. The clack-clack of his slippers annoyed Qin Wei, who was studying the chessboard. The CEO looked up and cast a dissatisfied glance at his rebellious son. Only then did Qin Yao restrain himself, sitting down on the sofa and looking up at the second-floor staircase.

“Big Dad, they’ve been up there for thirty-three minutes.”

Qin Yao turned his head to look at Qin Wei. The latter remained impassive, calmly lifting a chess piece and placing it back down a moment later. “What’s the rush?”

“I—”

Qin Yao choked on his words, collapsing onto the sofa in defeat. He actually knew that his Little Dad would talk to Bai He one day; he just couldn’t guess what they were saying.

“What exactly are you guys planning?” Qin Yao got up and went to the chessboard, sitting opposite Qin Wei. “I don’t believe you didn’t conspire with Little Dad.”

Qin Wei was too lazy to even lift his eyelids. “You don’t trust us?”

“How would I dare?!” Qin Yao exclaimed, then touched his nose. “It’s just…”

Unable to come up with a reason, he resorted to being shameless. “Let me give you an analogy. If my omega grandpa had pulled my Little Dad aside for a private chat before you got married, wouldn’t you have been on pins and needles?”

Hearing this, Qin Wei finally granted Qin Yao a glance. He let out a rare laugh. “You’re comparing my situation to yours?”

“…” Qin Yao tasted the words and realized belatedly that he was being mocked. He laughed too, standing up. “So what if you and Little Dad were childhood sweethearts? Big deal!”

“It is a big deal,” Qin Wei said without changing his expression.

Qin Yao laughed until he shook. Just then, he heard a noise upstairs. Looking up, he saw Nan Yu leaning over the second-floor railing. “Qin Yao, come up.”

Qin Yao’s eyes instantly lit up. Energized, he bounded up the stairs two at a time. “Little Dad.”

He looked behind Nan Yu but didn’t see Bai He. “Where’s Bai He?”

“In the closet, changing clothes,” Nan Yu said, leaning lazily against the railing. “Aren’t you going to check?”

Qin Yao started to go around him, but after two steps, he doubled back. “Little Dad, what did you say to Bai He?”

“Want to know?” Nan Yu raised an eyebrow. “Ask Little Bai He yourself.”

“Hmph, stingy.” Qin Yao pouted and quickly ran toward the closet.

Watching the closet door open and close, Nan Yu shook his head helplessly. He went downstairs and sat next to Qin Wei. “It’s good to be young.”

Qin Wei put down the chess piece in his hand and reached out to hold Nan Yu’s hand. “Did you settle it?”

“Of course.” Nan Yu raised his eyebrows. “Such a good kid. We have to take good care of him. I’ll look after him for a lifetime.”

Qin Wei gave a hum of acknowledgment. He looked upstairs, then pressed his head against Nan Yu’s face, his voice sounding a bit jealous. “Last time you said ‘a lifetime,’ it was with me.”

Knowing he was jealous, Nan Yu had his own set of rules for comforting the cat. He hugged him and kissed him twice. “I love you for a lifetime. I’m all yours. Don’t be jealous of the kids.”

Qin Wei grunted and rubbed against him.

Indeed, very easy to coax.

In the second-floor closet, Qin Yao pushed the door open but didn’t see Bai He. Puzzled, he heard sounds coming from the fitting room. Then the door opened, and Bai He walked out with his head down. “Brother Nan, this button is tangled and I can’t undo it. Can you help…”

Before he could finish, he saw a familiar pair of shoes. Bai He paused and looked up. “Qin Yao, you—”

His feet left the ground. Qin Yao possessed amazing arm strength; he picked Bai He up. Bai He sat on Qin Yao’s arm, his hands resting on Qin Yao’s shoulders. He lowered his head, his gaze falling into those deep blue eyes.

They looked at each other for a long time. Bai He patted Qin Yao’s shoulder lightly. “What’s wrong?”

“…” Qin Yao’s Adam’s apple moved slowly. He looked up as if gazing at a deity. No, at this moment, Bai He was his deity. His Xiao Bao was truly so beautiful. Just standing there, it seemed as if all the sunlight in the world was pouring down for him.

Qin Yao didn’t know what to say. A fire seemed to be leaping in his chest, about to burst out. “Xiao Bao, kiss me.”

Bai He blinked in confusion. “Why so suddenly…?”

“Kiss me, okay?” Qin Yao asked urgently, his breathing erratic. “I cooked tonight, and I washed the dishes…”

Saying this, Qin Yao realized belatedly that these reasons didn’t constitute grounds for requesting a kiss at all. He lowered his voice and complained, “You didn’t feed me.”

Bai He: “…?”

After a brief moment of confusion, he suddenly remembered not feeding Qin Yao at the dinner table. He felt guilty. “You… I didn’t mean to…”

Not getting the kiss made Qin Yao even more urgent. He tilted his head back. His neck was exquisite, and just watching his Adam’s apple slide slowly up and down created a sexual tension palpable enough to make Bai He blush.

“Kiss me.” Qin Yao practically begged, sounding like he was whining or acting spoiled. “Xiao Bao, you look so good. I like you so much.”

Bai He felt his face heat up under Qin Yao’s gaze. Qin Yao’s eyes were too deceptive—like blue sapphires, beautiful and seductive. They seemed to speak. Bai He couldn’t take it anymore and reached out to cover Qin Yao’s eyes.

His hand rose and fell with Qin Yao’s breathing. Bai He’s heartbeat gradually sped up. He subconsciously glanced at Qin Yao’s lips, then guiltily looked at the closed closet door.

After a long moment, he lowered his head. Their lips met, lingering for a few seconds this time before separating, light as a falling feather.

“Okay.” Bai He turned his head away and tapped Qin Yao’s shoulder again. “Put me down. I need to change.”

With his vision restored, Qin Yao stared straight at Bai He’s flushed cheeks, licked his lips, still unsatisfied.

He didn’t put Bai He down immediately to change. Instead, he wrapped his arms around Bai He’s waist, pinching lightly with both hands. Such a thin waist; he could span it instantly.

“Xiao Bao…” Qin Yao pressed against Bai He’s ear, calling him. “What did you and my Little Dad talk about just now?”

Bai He lifted his head and thought for a moment. “Nothing much, just casual chat.”

“…” Qin Yao hesitated again and again but didn’t ask further. He buried his head. “When are we going home?”

Bai He looked at Qin Yao. “Qin Yao, you can’t hide things.”

“Neither can you.” Qin Yao smiled. “Xiao Bao, I only can’t hide things in front of you.”

“Just now, Brother Nan actually just…” Bai He organized his words, choosing an appropriate term. “He comforted me. Brother Nan is really good.”

Qin Yao froze. Actually, this was expected; he was just too nervous.

“Xiao Bao, this is your home. We will all be good to you.”

Bai He was silent for a moment. “Then can we stay here tonight?”

Just now, Brother Nan had also said he wanted him to stay. Judging by Qin Yao’s clinginess, if they went back to the apartment, Bai He would be in for another exhausting night. If they stayed here, Qin Yao might behave himself a little.

Clearly, Qin Yao understood Bai He’s thoughts. The big cat, skilled in acting shameless and spoiled, was immediately unhappy. He buried his head and nuzzled Bai He’s neck. “Let’s go back, okay? Xiao Bao, you can’t be so cruel.”

Bai He was ticklish from the nuzzling. He pushed Qin Yao. “Who’s the cruel one? You always—”

He didn’t know how to say it. Every time, they went until very, very late. And he teased him every time. His stamina was unbearable for an ordinary person. Although his technique was on point, he loved to play too much.

Bai He choked back these words, his face flushing red as he turned away. “Anyway, Brother Nan wants me to stay.”

Hearing no answer from Qin Yao, Bai He slowly looked back. He found Qin Yao with red eyes, concealing an extreme restraint, as if he were about to explode. Bai He had only seen this look when Qin Yao was extremely aroused.

“You…”

“Then we’ll stay.” Qin Yao tilted his head back to kiss Bai He’s eyelids. “But Xiao Bao, our house has no other rooms. You have to sleep with me.”

Bai He, who had just heard Brother Nan say there were plenty of rooms: “…”
