HIS PHEROMONE SMELLS LIKE CATNIP Chapter extra 3.1

His Pheromone Smells Like Catnip [Cub 03] extra part 1

When the little cub was first born, the nurse remarked on what a powerful set of lungs he had. Indeed, for the first two months, he cried with impressive vigor. Later on, however, he became quite well-behaved, often staring at you with those large eyes for a long, long time.

Shortly after his birth, the beastman genetic report came back. Qin Yao’s genes were undeniably potent; the lineage of the Maine Coon beastman had continued. The little one was a kitten.

Children grow in their human infant forms and typically can only switch to their beastman forms around the age of one. Even then, the transformation isn’t always stable, and they might occasionally get stuck, requiring training from their beastman father.

Bai He stayed in the hospital for some time before being discharged. Once back home, Qin Yao took over his care completely.

The baby was named Qin Yu, a name chosen by Bai He, symbolizing cheerfulness and upward growth.

The name was certainly fitting. The little guy was cheerful, alright, but he was also capable of making quite a ruckus. In the first month, he slept a lot—twenty hours out of twenty-four. But during those remaining four hours, he made sure to torment his Big Dad, Qin Yao. It wouldn’t have been so bad if he just cried, but if no one was entertaining him the moment he woke up, he would throw a tantrum, his voice shaking the very rafters. Since Qin Yao was also busy caring for the recovering Bai He, that first month was a frantic blur. The expectant father, who didn’t even know how to hold a baby properly at first, only slowly learned the art of soothing the child with the help of Nan Yu and the confinement nurse.

The second month was even noisier. However, as long as Bai He was present, the little cub wouldn’t cry. Qin Yao often carried the little guy into the room where Bai He was resting. The father and son would stay quietly by the bedside—Qin Yao sitting on the cashmere rug, holding Little Qin Yu in his arms, the two cats gazing silently at the sleeping Bai He.

At these times, Qin Yu wouldn’t make a peep. According to Dr. Li, it was because he could sense his Omega father’s pheromones. Just as a child needs the soothing presence of their Alpha father’s pheromones, they naturally require their Omega father’s as well, and often develop a stronger dependency on the Omega father.

Bai He spent a lot of time with the little guy every day, but occasionally, when he needed to rest and couldn’t keep him company, he would hand the baby over to Qin Yao. Waking up, he would often find a large figure and a small figure by the bed, both staring at him with wide, eager eyes.

It was actually quite a cute scene.

Perhaps due to the strong beastman genes, the child grew rapidly. By the end of the third month, Qin Yu could roll over, and by the fourth month, he had learned to crawl. His movements were surprisingly agile, though his small size made him look like a little moving meatball as he scurried across the carpet.

Because the little guy had learned to crawl so quickly, the house was covered in carpets and soft playpen mats, and all sharp objects were soundly padded.

“Qin Xiao Yu? Where have you crawled off to now?”

Qin Yao poked his head out of the kitchen, wearing an apron and holding an egg beater. He couldn’t relax his vigilance for a second; even in the intervals of baking a cake for Bai He, he had to keep an eye on Qin Yu in the living room.

The living room area had been completely cleared out to install a baby playpen. Inside were mostly large, soft plush toys; they didn’t dare put anything too small in there, fearing the brat would stuff it into his mouth.

At this moment, seeing no sign of Qin Yu, Qin Yao scanned the room. He went back to set down the egg beater before returning to the living room to search.

He lifted the soft rocking chair—nothing. He moved the plush toys—nothing. He circled the room twice and still didn’t see him. Just as he was getting puzzled, he suddenly spotted a diaper bulging into a round ball in the corner of the sofa.

Qin Yao: “…”

He walked over in two strides, gently scooped up the little guy, and flipped Qin Yu, who had his butt turned towards him, over. “What are you doing burying your head in there?”

Qin Yao looked at the little thing face-to-face. Truth be told, Qin Yu really looked like Bai He, especially those eyes; he had inherited many of Bai He’s best features. The only physical trait he shared with Qin Yao was perhaps his hair color, which was slightly lighter than Bai He’s deep black.

“You brat, did you pee again??”

Realizing it a beat too late, Qin Yao weighed the little bottom in his hand—sure enough, it was heavy.

He laughed in exasperation and carried the little thing off to change his diaper.

When Bai He came home, he was greeted by the scene of Qin Yao changing Qin Yu’s diaper. He placed the things he was holding on the table and walked over to watch. Seeing Qin Yao’s skilled movements, he smiled. “Not bad, Dad.”

Qin Yao hooked his lips into a smile, leaned in to kiss Bai He, and finished changing the little cub’s diaper. After placing the child back into the playpen, Qin Yao couldn’t wait to pull Bai He into his arms for more kisses.

Laid flat in the playpen, Little Qin Yu looked up, staring at the ceiling with wide eyes. He slowly reached out his hands, grasping at nothing. clearly a bit annoyed, he struggled to roll over, sprawled onto the carpet, and crawled two steps towards Bai He and Qin Yao. Separated by the playpen fence—which was quite high for a baby—Qin Yu tilted his head back, staring unblinkingly at Qin Yao and Bai He.

Finally, having charged up his “ultimate move,” he opened his mouth and began to howl. It had been a long time since they heard the child cry like this, startling Qin Yao and Bai He into a flurry of motion. Qin Yao picked up the unlucky little doll, but after coaxing him for a long time to no avail, he had to look up and ask Bai He for help.

Bai He reached out his hands. “Let me.”

Qin Yu was handed over to Bai He. Within seconds, curled up in Bai He’s embrace, he stopped crying and fussing, and even began to yawn sleepily.

This amused Qin Yao. He bent down, poking the little thing’s chubby cheek with a gaze full of resentment. “You brat, you just won’t let us be intimate for a moment, will you?”

Facts proved that Qin Yu’s arrival was specifically designed to cause trouble for Qin Yao—trouble in every aspect!

The little thing had boundless energy, especially at night when he didn’t like to sleep.

That night, Qin Yao had finally managed to coax the baby to sleep. He tiptoed out of the nursery, opened the door to their bedroom, and anxiously climbed onto the bed to find Bai He.

Bai He was on the verge of falling asleep when he hazily felt Qin Yao’s warm body pressing against him. He asked with bleary eyes, “Aren’t you sleepy?”

“Not sleepy. Xiao Bao, pity me a little, I’ve sacrificed too much for that brat!” Qin Yao nuzzled his face against Bai He, truly anxious beyond measure.

Bai He naturally understood what this meant. He gave a soft laugh and reached out to embrace him, clearly consenting.

As the night deepened and whispers turned intimate, Bai He pushed him a few times. “…Don’t rush.”

No matter how urgent Qin Yao was, hearing Bai He’s words, he had to obediently calm down. But after just a moment of entanglement, before they had even really started, an earth-shattering cry came from the nursery.

“Qin Yao, wait a moment…” Bai He gasped, patting Qin Yao. “The baby is crying.”

Qin Yao held Bai He tightly, refusing to let go, rubbing his head against Bai He’s neck repeatedly. “I won’t, Xiao Bao…”

Bai He was quite helpless. He knew how cruel it was for Qin Yao to stop suddenly in this situation, but they couldn’t just let the baby cry. It wasn’t good to leave him crying in the middle of the night. He could only pat Qin Yao’s back soothingly. “I’ll be back very soon. Wait for me here, okay?”

He pulled away and got out of bed. Before leaving, he kissed Qin Yao, who had pulled the quilt over his legs. The big cat’s ears were flattened against his head in an “airplane ears” shape; he looked so aggrieved it was pitiful. Bai He paused, walked back, leaned against Qin Yao, and lowered his voice. “Just wait a little while, and we’ll continue, okay?”
