Chapter 66: I Just Want To
Wen Ling spoke louder than usual, lifting his bowl. “I want two more ladles.”
Cheng Ge did as he was told and scooped two more ladles for Wen Ling. Seeing the person had no more issues, he continued frying the rice.
The egg fried rice was done. Because Cheng Ge made a lot, he scooped a bowl for everyone. “If you don’t have enough, just scoop some more.”
“Thank you, Dad!”
“Thank you, Dad!”
Lin Hai and Zhang Fan spoke in unison. As the saying goes, whoever saves you from “famine” is your dad.
Cheng Ge rolled his eyes at the two squatting on the floor: “Hehe.” Then he couldn’t hold back his urge to complain: “Could you guys not squat on the floor to eat? It makes you look like beggars.”
Lin Hai waved his hand, signaling Cheng Ge not to mind. “It feels better eating like this. It’s delicious.”
Zhang Fan nodded. “Plus one.”
Cheng Ge couldn’t be bothered to flame them. Turning his head, he saw that guy Wen Ling was also squatting in his chair, head buried in his food. Cheng Ge’s vision went dark; he was so angry he wanted to spit blood.
“Tsk, look at you guys teaching bad habits to the kid.” Cheng Ge pointed accusatorily at his two roommates, then lightly patted Wen Ling’s calf. “Sit properly.”
Wen Ling glanced at Cheng Ge, said nothing, and continued eating with his head down.
“Be good.”
“Hmph.” Very soft and muffled.
Cheng Ge was baffled. Was Wen Ling throwing a tantrum? He cared about him, and he threw a tantrum?
It was simply unbelievable. Cheng Ge directly used his hands, forcefully reaching one under the bend of Wen Ling’s knees and supporting Wen Ling’s back with the other, placing the person properly on the chair. “Sit properly. It’s easy to get indigestion eating like you were just now.”
Wen Ling looked at Cheng Ge and blinked twice: “Oh.”
This time, Wen Ling finally didn’t act stubborn with Cheng Ge anymore. He honestly sat on the chair, burying his head to inhale his food.
Only then did Cheng Ge drop the matter. But when he realized what he had just done, his body stiffened. He glanced at Zhang Fan and Lin Hai, and finding their attention completely on the food, he finally set his mind at ease.
Wen Ling’s eating speed was simply lightning-fast, as if he swallowed the food into his stomach without chewing twice. Cheng Ge had only eaten half, while Wen Ling had already finished a bowl and proceeded to add a second.
Wen Ling’s eating speed was much faster than usual. Cheng Ge was a bit worried. “Eat a bit slower, don’t eat so urgently.”
Hearing this, Wen Ling nodded. His eating speed slowed down a bit, but it was still very fast.
Cheng Ge muttered strangely: “Is it really that delicious?”
“Delicious, delicious!” Lin Hai acted like a beggar, smiling sneakily. “Can I scoop a little bit more?”
There was probably still enough for two bowls in the pot, definitely enough to eat. Cheng Ge nodded indifferently, waving his hand: “Granted.”
Who knew that right after Lin Hai scooped half a bowl, Wen Ling would also join the fun: “I want to scoop a lot too.”
Cheng Ge looked at Wen Ling’s bowl in amusement. Half the rice was still left. He rejected: “Finish eating first, then we’ll talk.”
Then Wen Ling swiftly finished the remaining rice. “I want another bowl.”
Cheng Ge frowned slightly. For Wen Ling, two bowls were absolutely the limit.
“No. You can only eat two bowls. Don’t eat so much all at once.”
Wen Ling acted like a rascal: “I just want to.”
“No.”
Seeing Cheng Ge being so resolute, Wen Ling reached out to scoop it himself regardless of whether Cheng Ge agreed or not.
“If you eat any more, I won’t cook next time.”
Wen Ling’s movements instantly froze. After a long while, Wen Ling put the bowl on the table and left.

Cheng Ge clicked his tongue internally and didn’t chase after him.
Lin Hai’s tone was somewhat worried: “Eh… Cheng Ge, Wen Ling left.”
Cheng Ge was annoyed to death: “I know, I have eyes.”
“He looked really sad. It’s just a bowl of rice, why didn’t you let him eat?” Lin Hai felt Cheng Ge was in the wrong. “Look how urgently Wen Ling was eating, it means he was very hungry. What’s wrong with eating a bit more?”
“I think so too,” Zhang Fan also voiced his opinion. “Although I don’t know how you guys usually interact, and although Wen Ling’s reactions are a bit slow and dorky, and he’s cute and sometimes really acts like a kid, but he isn’t a real kid, right? He’s in his twenties. When he squatted to eat you didn’t allow it, when he ate fast you criticized him, and when he ate more you controlled him. He would feel very embarrassed.”
Cheng Ge was extremely annoyed internally, suffering in silence. How could they understand Wen Ling?
Before, Wen Ling always had stomachaches, headaches, and fevers. And that guy had no care or concept of his own body; he did things purely based on his impulses, reckless of the consequences.
He had studied for almost a month before thoroughly understanding the causes and habits that easily triggered Wen Ling’s ailments, especially regarding meals.
The timing had to be right. His eating speed had to match Cheng Ge’s so it wouldn’t hurt. One bowl of soup and two bowls of rice was the absolute limit. Even a little more would cause a stomachache.
Wen Ling’s bowls were even specifically bought by him to match the size of the ones at home.
Moreover, Wen Ling’s snatching-like way of eating was definitely not out of hunger. He wasn’t so blind he couldn’t see what state Wen Ling was in. Wen Ling was throwing a tantrum; he just couldn’t figure out what Wen Ling was throwing a tantrum about.
And embarrassment? The words “face” and “embarrassment” temporarily didn’t exist in Wen Ling’s little head.
If he indulged Wen Ling now and let him eat so recklessly, his digestive system would be ruined!
“You guys don’t understand.” Cheng Ge didn’t want to, nor could he, explain Wen Ling’s situation to his roommates, but he also knew they meant well. “I’ll go talk to him later.”
Seeing Wen Ling sad made Cheng Ge’s heart ache too, but he absolutely wouldn’t agree to let Wen Ling act so recklessly. What a joke. His body had been nursed for months and he wanted to ruin it again? If Wen Ling didn’t feel sorry for himself, Cheng Ge did.
Cheng Ge was in no mood. He lost his appetite after finishing one bowl of rice. But not knowing if Wen Ling had calmed down, he prepared to wash the pot and tableware clean before going to coax the person.
As a result, Zhang Fan and Lin Hai volunteered to help him clean up, urging him to go find the person and apologize properly.
Finally, Cheng Ge was invited out of the dorm by his roommates. Cheng Ge looked at the door to Wen Ling’s dorm, then turned back to glance at his roommates who were eagerly hoping he would apologize. His head throbbed.
Cheng Ge knocked on the door of the neighboring dorm. The person who opened the door was Ji Ji.
“Hello, I’m looking for Wen Ling.”
“Uh… okay, sure, please wait a moment.”
It took Ji Ji a good while to return: “He… he refuses to pay attention to you…”
Ji Ji’s voice was very soft: “Aiya, did you guys have a fight? As soon as Wen Ling came back I felt something was wrong, he looked so sad. They say couples fight at the head of the bed and make up at the foot of the bed. Wen Ling has a very good temper, you should coax him properly…”
Cheng Ge’s mind was completely filled with Ji Ji’s phrase “he refuses to pay attention to you,” not clearly hearing what Ji Ji said afterward.
“Can I go in for a bit?”
“Of course you can.” Ji Ji hurriedly opened the dorm door wide. Cheng Ge and Wen Ling, who was sitting on a chair, exchanged a look. Wen Ling immediately stood up and grabbed the ladder to climb into bed.
Cheng Ge stepped forward in two or three strides, directly hugging the person down from behind. Suppressing Wen Ling’s struggles, he used his foot to slide open the balcony door, brought the person into the bathroom, and locked the door.
Zhao Zhishen watched Cheng Ge’s slick moves, clicking his tongue in amazement: “Baby, is it really okay for him to do this?”
Ji Ji was also shocked but still very confident: “It’s fine, it’s fine.”
“What if Wen Ling really doesn’t want to see Cheng Ge? He seemed so resistant.”
“Idiot, if Xiao Wen didn’t want to see someone, he would have gotten into bed long ago. Why would he wait until his boyfriend came in to slowly climb the ladder?”
“Wow, baby, you know so much!” Zhao Zhishen hugged Ji Ji and kissed his cheek several times.
“Idiot.”
