Chapter 10: Do I Really Have to Beg Him?
“What kind of person does Young Master Fu like?” Chen Bai’s curiosity was piqued, and his eyes sparkled as he looked at him.
Fu Yue’s brain began an emergency search for vocabulary.
He hadn’t interacted with many men in this world.
So, he simply took the characteristics of the three male leads he had dealt with most recently and performed a wild, imaginative mash-up.
“Him…” Fu Yue feigned a look of infatuation, his handsome face tilting up at a forty-five-degree angle.
“He has eyes as dark as ink, incredibly deep. As for his personality, he’s steady yet domineering—and exceptionally wealthy. He can be a bit of a lunatic when he’s angry, with an explosive sense of possessiveness. Yet, when he’s being professional, he’s incredibly calm—an iceberg beauty, a flower on a high mountain.”
Chen Bai listened, completely dazed, and finally offered a heartfelt sigh: “To think such a person exists. It must be very difficult to pursue him, right?”
“Indeed.” Fu Yue let out a sigh against his better judgment, wearing a “you know how it is” expression.
Chen Bai looked at him with sincere eyes: “Young Master Fu, you’ve helped me so much. In the future, if you ever need help pursuing someone, I’m in!”
Looking into Chen Bai’s pure, doe-like eyes, Fu Yue gave a guilty smile.
Chen Bai seemed to suddenly realize he didn’t have much authority on the subject and lowered his head in embarrassment: “Though… I’ve never pursued anyone before. I don’t have much experience…”
“Exactly. You have no experience,” Fu Yue found his opening and offered a sharp critique. “The way you’re trying to attract Ji Linyue right now is completely wrong.”
Chen Bai was already sensitive; upon being criticized, his beautiful eyes rimmed with red, looking as if he might burst into tears the next second.
Fu Yue almost softened enough to comfort him.
But he couldn’t!
For the sake of the mission, for the hundred million, and to avoid being obliterated, he had to pull this protagonist bottom back onto the right plot path!
“Chen Bai, love shouldn’t be born out of jealousy.”
Fu Yue began to analyze it for him: “A wealthy heir like Ji Linyue, who has lacked nothing since childhood, won’t cherish something that looks like anyone can have it. The more you act like a socialite drifting between men, the more he will look down on you and think you’re cheap.”
Fu Yue had never been in a relationship himself; these words were the result of his serious analysis during the drive.
Word for word, they struck right at Chen Bai’s deepest insecurities.
“Then what should I do?” Chen Bai asked blankly, his voice full of a plea for help.
“What was your major in university?”
“Administrative Management.”
A classic protagonist bottom major, Fu Yue commented inwardly.
He leaned back against his chair, adopting the posture of a master strategist: “I have a plan. I can find a way to help you enter the Ji Group to work. It’s safe, and you’ll have the advantage of being close to him…”
“Young Master Fu, why are you helping me so much?” Chen Bai asked bluntly. This was the biggest doubt in his heart.
Fu Yue was caught at a critical point.
“I’m sorry about what happened at the charity gala. I just wanted to play a trick on you back then. I didn’t expect… things to develop between you and Ji Linyue like this, or that you’d have to work at a dangerous place like that club. I have a sort of indirect responsibility.”
This reason was, in fact, a bit forced.
But Fu Yue really couldn’t come up with a better one.
His gaze was a bit uneasy, fearing Chen Bai would think he was a liar and flip the table.
Fortunately, as a protagonist, Chen Bai was simple-minded.
He didn’t hear any issues in Fu Yue’s words at all. Instead, he felt the other was sincerely apologizing for the prank from back then.
He looked at Fu Yue seriously and nodded heavily.
“Okay, Young Master Fu. I’ll listen to you.”
Western suburbs of Haicheng, “Fengchi” Racing Club.
This was one of the most expensive properties under the name of the Ji Group’s CEO, Ji Linyue.
The club spanned a vast area, serving as a top-tier sanctuary for speed and passion in Haicheng, as well as a status symbol for the city’s wealthy young masters.
Under the afternoon sun, the silver-gray streamlined building radiated a sense of futuristic technology.
Inside the glass lobby, rows of vibrant, fierce-looking supercars were visible.
—Koenigsegg, Pagani, Bugatti Veyron. Every single one was meticulously modified and tuned to racing standards.
The air was filled with the unique scent of high-end leather, engine oil, and rubber.
A bright blue McLaren stopped at the club’s main entrance. The doors swung upward, and Fu Yue stepped out.
In the distance, Chen Bai was standing at the reception desk wearing a navy blue uniform.
Currently, he was handling business for a member, wearing a faint, professional smile.
The member, wearing sunglasses, was the son of Haicheng’s Duan Group. His eyes were fixed on Chen Bai’s face.
“New here? Want to go for a spin with me tonight?”
Chen Bai took half a step back and shook his head: “I’m sorry, Young Master Duan. Company policy forbids employees from accepting private invitations from members.”
Young Master Duan was relentless: “Do you know who my father is?”
“Your coffee.”
Fu Yue appeared suddenly, reaching past Young Master Duan to press an iced mocha into Chen Bai’s palm.
This action was a clear signal of male competition.
Sure enough, Young Master Duan turned his head and glared at him.
“Young Master Fu?!”
Fu Yue sighed in his heart.
Places like this had always been “shura fields” where rich second-generation heirs fought over jealousy, showed off, and compared themselves.
Fu Yue didn’t want to cause trouble, but the other party was harassing Chen Bai. No matter what happened next, he would face it head-on.
However, Young Master Duan’s expression changed visibly.
His originally arrogant aura vanished. He raised a hand to tidy his hair, adjusted his collar, puffed out his chest, and lowered his voice:
“Young Master Fu, you’re here to play with cars today too? Do you want to go grab a drink tonight?”
Fu Yue: “…?”
Chen Bai: “Pfft!”
A mouthful of coffee was sprayed directly onto Young Master Duan’s membership form.
Fu Yue was dumbfounded: “No thanks, I have business with him.” He pointed at Chen Bai.
Young Master Duan was reluctant to leave: “Then… then next time…”
Fu Yue didn’t look back as he pulled Chen Bai away quickly.
After leading Chen Bai out of the hall, Fu Yue pretended to show off his McLaren to him.
The two sat in the car, and Fu Yue asked in a volume only they could hear: “Did you take note of everything?”
“No problem, I have a very good memory.” Chen Bai’s eyes were confident as he replied with a smile.
He had to admit, Chen Bai was very good-looking when he smiled. His lips were red and his teeth white, showing a tiny bit of a canine tooth. No wonder he attracted attention wherever he went.
“The technicians in A-zone were complaining that the GT-R’s turbo pressure is unstable, fluctuating constantly.”
“Brother Li, the head technician in B-zone, said the newly arrived Ferrari has a strange noise in the engine at high speeds.”
“Also, almost all the technicians mentioned that the racing cars’ onboard computer systems have been crashing occasionally lately, and it only gets fixed with a restart.”
Chen Bai listed them off like a pro.
After their meal the other day, Fu Yue had told Chen Bai about his plan.
He asked Chen Bai to use his role as a receptionist to pay attention to what the technicians were saying.
This was because Fu Yue had read the original novel thoroughly.
He had discovered that the author, either to pad the word count or because they forgot to resolve a plot hook, included a minor, seemingly useless plot point:
The “Fengchi” Club would hold a grand member invitation race in three days.
During this race, the majority of the cars would malfunction for unknown reasons.
Fu Yue guessed that since Ji Linyue had many enemies, someone had probably tampered with the club’s cars.
This mass malfunction event would directly damage the club’s reputation and business.
Fu Yue was here today to confirm exactly what was wrong with these cars.
When the time came, he would have Chen Bai voice his suspicions to Ji Linyue, and then he would “coincidentally” prove the problem existed. This would earn Chen Bai Ji Linyue’s recognition and trust.
He would then take the chance to give a push, helping Chen Bai successfully join the Ji Group.
The plan was perfect!
Fu Yue wandered into the maintenance area and sat inside a silver Porsche 911 that had already been tuned.
He didn’t start the car; instead, he opened the onboard computer screen on the center console.
After studying it for a while, he frowned.
There was definitely a problem with the car’s ECU (Electronic Control Unit).
With Fu Yue’s skills as a tech geek, he quickly judged that someone had intentionally written a vulnerability into the ECU.
However, this vulnerability was embedded in the low-level code and protected by a complex “lock.”
The other party had clearly hired a hacker.
With his own skills, Fu Yue could diagnose and crack it, but it would be very slow.
It was almost impossible to finish cracking it before the race.
Author, you promised a ‘padded’ story, why couldn’t you make the padding a bit simpler! Fu Yue was a bit anxious.
“System! System!” Fu Yue called out in his mind. “Are there any items that can help me crack this encryption?”
[Host, as far as I know, there are no such items.]
The system’s answer disappointed him. What other way was there?
Wait!
Fu Yue suddenly thought—a huge city like Haicheng must have a high-end AI computer lab that could solve this problem.
But where would he find such a lab on short notice?
A name suddenly flashed through Fu Yue’s mind—Ji Hanmo.
The Ji Group headquarters had an AI computer lab.
But at the thought of going to beg that man, Fu Yue’s entire body filled with resistance.
…
Fu Yue copied the racing car’s ECU program and left the club.
By now, dusk had fallen.
The night wind carried a slight chill, and withered yellow sycamore leaves swirled down onto the windshield.
Fu Yue drove his bright blue McLaren, wandering aimlessly through the city.
The window was half-open, and the cold November wind poured in, but it couldn’t blow away the irritation in his heart at all.
Pedestrians along the road cast glances at him.
A handsome youth driving a luxury car—a beautiful car and a beautiful man—became part of the city scenery.
But Fu Yue was in no mood to enjoy the envy of others.
His fingertips rested on the steering wheel, tapping absentmindedly.
Ji Hanmo had already blacklisted his contact information.
This meant the man didn’t even want to give him a chance to get in touch or meet.
Where exactly had he offended him?
Fu Yue felt a bit depressed, recalling the last time they met.
He had been wearing that shameful bunny boy outfit, sprawled across the business emperor’s lap.
Ji Hanmo seemed to have played with that fluffy tail while confronting Shen Junnian.
Was he unhappy because his “punishment play” was interrupted?
As soon as this thought appeared, Fu Yue’s cheeks burned uncontrollably.
