Chapter 10
The refrigerator in the kitchen had been stuffed full the moment he was set to return. Fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat—Shen Yisi had even hired a housekeeper separately to make dinner for him.
Shen Shuyu leaned against the refrigerator with his arms crossed. Wen Jiafei wore an apron, handling the ingredients crisply and efficiently. His fingers, with their well-defined joints, looked exceptionally good.
Shen Shuyu watched and watched, actually becoming entranced. The latter seemed to sense his gaze and turned to look at him.
After meeting his gaze for three seconds, Shen Shuyu calmed down. He said, “I’m going to watch TV. There’s a fish in the fridge; cook that too.”
With that, he opened the fridge, took a bottle of water, and left.
Wen Jiafei silently followed Shen Shuyu’s figure with his eyes. Only after seeing him actually sit on the sofa did he frown and resume handling the ingredients.
About forty minutes later, Wen Jiafei brought out the prepared dishes. Shen Shuyu sat at the dining table, looking at the steamed fish and home-style dishes, and couldn’t help raising an eyebrow. “Can’t tell just by looking, but your skills are quite good.”
However, as soon as he said it, he figured it out. Wen Jiafei had been independent since childhood; being able to cook wasn’t strange.
Wen Jiafei said, “I’m leaving.”
He didn’t know what tricks the Shen family’s little young master was up to today, but the meal was done, so there was no need for him to stay.
Shen Shuyu said, “What are you running for? The food is ready, eat some together.”
Wen Jiafei’s gaze fell on him again, this time with a bit more confusion. Shen Shuyu crossed his arms and said, “That look on your face makes it seem like I bullied you.”
Wen Jiafei’s eyes darkened slightly, seeming to think Shen Shuyu’s ability to lie through his teeth had increased.
But Shen Shuyu was very candid. After all, the one who bullied Wen Jiafei before was the original host. He hadn’t bullied him once since arriving, and he had even saved him once!
He watched Wen Jiafei sit down opposite him. He didn’t rush to eat but said, “You eat first.”
Wen Jiafei understood now. He said, “Afraid I poisoned it?”
Shen Shuyu hadn’t thought that, but hearing him say it, he couldn’t help chuckling. “There’s no harm in being cautious.”
Sure enough, Shen Shuyu is no kind-hearted person.
Wen Jiafei expressionlessly picked up his chopsticks and took a bit of every dish in front of him. Only after he swallowed did Shen Shuyu pick up his chopsticks. He said, “It seems Classmate Wen is still very kind.”
Wen Jiafei didn’t respond.
Shen Shuyu didn’t mind. He didn’t have a large appetite and stopped after eating one bowl of rice.
He looked at the dishes on the table and stood up. “Finish it all for me, don’t waste it. Remember to clean the kitchen too. I’m going for a nap now; wake me when it’s time.”
Wen Jiafei looked up at him slightly. Shen Shuyu stretched right in front of him, his school uniform lifting up with the movement, revealing a section of his waist.
Really thin.
Wen Jiafei lowered his head again.
Shen Shuyu didn’t notice Wen Jiafei’s small action. Yawning, he shuffled in his slippers toward the bedroom. The bedroom’s decor style was also minimalist.
Shen Shuyu stood by the bed and flopped down, sinking into the soft mattress. He rolled over happily. In his past life, he was an orphan. Even when he had the ability to earn money, he had never slept in such a comfortable bed or lived in such a nice house.
As a man, as long as there was shelter from the wind and rain, it was enough. But after transmigrating, his standard of living had skyrocketed. So this is what it feels like to be rich.
Shen Shuyu called out the system. He asked: [Check for me if Wen Jiafei is eating.]
Xiao 1 said: [Yes, Master~ Wen Jiafei is eating~ But Master, why did you invite Wen Jiafei into the house?]
The original host never gave Wen Jiafei such a good attitude.
Shen Shuyu blinked twice. The system asking this meant it wasn’t around just now and didn’t know the context. He said without changing his expression: [I was hungry, so I had him come cook for me. Isn’t he the original host’s lackey? It’s perfectly reasonable to tell him to make a meal.]
Xiao 1 flickered twice in his mind, seeming a bit hesitant: [Really?]
[Yeah. Even though it’s not a plot point right now, I’m still trying hard to maintain the character persona, okay? Otherwise, I would have just turned and left when I saw him earlier.] Shen Shuyu sighed. [What were you doing just now? You didn’t see anything?]
Xiao 1 stopped questioning. It praised: [Master is so amazing! I was in hibernation just now. I only come out when plot events happen or when Master calls me! Otherwise, my energy won’t be enough.]
So that’s how it is.
Shen Shuyu got the information he wanted. He said: [I’m going to sleep. You watch Wen Jiafei for me. Oh, and wake me up twenty minutes before class starts.]
Xiao 1 hesitated for a moment. It had just recovered a tiny bit of energy from hibernating. If it acted as a surveillance camera, it would be out of energy again after this session.
It was just about to tell Shen Shuyu, but Shen Shuyu had already closed his eyes, his breathing very steady. It looked like he was already asleep.
Xiao 1 flickered twice in his mind again, but in the end, didn’t disturb him.
Wen Jiafei finished his meal. He washed the dishes and chopsticks clean. After tidying up, he sat on the sofa, his gaze falling on the tightly closed bedroom door.
He somewhat understood Shen Shuyu’s meaning. usually, Shen Shuyu looked like he wanted to bite him when they met, but today’s Shen Shuyu could be described as pleasant, like a completely different person.
Wen Jiafei sat silently on the sofa. Previously, relying on his identity as the Shen family’s young master and a precious Omega, the other party could be said to run rampant and do whatever he pleased.
The first time they interacted, he was beaten up by the lackeys behind him. He wasn’t a good person either; just as he had figured out how to retaliate, Shen Shuyu suddenly threw a large sum of money at him. He called it medical expenses, but in reality, it was hush money—he didn’t want outsiders to know about his state.
Later, Shen Shuyu asked him out alone to vent his anger more often, but fortunately, it gradually became just him alone. To say he didn’t hate him would be a lie, but considering the high hush money, Wen Jiafei didn’t hate him that much.
It was just being a human punching bag. In his earlier years, he had fought in underground boxing matches a few times to make money. Comparatively, Shen Shuyu was just child’s play in his eyes, and generous too.
He needed money, lots and lots of money.
There was actually another reason he followed Shen Shuyu back.
But today, Shen Shuyu’s attitude was somewhat unfathomable to him. He didn’t like this feeling of losing control. It seemed he would have to find a time to probe what exactly was going on with him.
Thinking of this, Wen Jiafei couldn’t help but frown.
