Chapter 111
The four of them finished their meal in relative harmony. Feng Xing called someone to clean up the mess, then sent a message to carefully ask Chi Yanxun when he would arrive.
Just as he sent the message, he heard a notification sound at the door. Turning his head, he saw Chi Yanxun walking in expressionlessly, accompanied by a smiling Su Mu.
Although everyone knew what Su Mu looked like, today was technically their first proper meeting at such close quarters. The key point was that he came with Chi Yanxun.
Wen Jiafei had been sitting aside reading the script. Seeing Su Mu, his gaze unconsciously shifted to Shen Shuyu. The fact that Shen Shuyu liked Chi Yanxun and chased after him was widely known in the academy. Previously, when Chi Yanxun and Su Mu held hands crossing the street in the academy, Shen Shuyu had been dragged into the discussion. However, because of the Survival War halo at the time, people didn’t mock him much; instead, they pitied Shen Shuyu for his unrequited passion failing to melt the iceberg.
But now, the heat of the Survival War was gradually fading. Chi Yanxun and Su Mu were very high-profile and were currently the top topic on the academy forum. Shen Shuyu was occasionally brought up for a comment or two.
However, Shen Shuyu had been emotionally stable recently. But Wen Jiafei hadn’t expected Chi Yanxun to bring Su Mu along.
He looked at Shen Shuyu. Shen Shuyu seemed stunned too.
Wen Jiafei pressed his lips together, stood up from his seat, and without anyone noticing, stood behind Shen Shuyu.
Shen Shuyu really hadn’t expected Chi Yanxun to bring Su Mu. Su Mu looked even more delicate than him. He held onto Chi Yanxunâs arm as they walked in. Shen Shuyu noticed that the coat draped over him seemed a bit large; it looked like Chi Yanxunâs clothes.
Shen Shuyu felt the current scene was quite chaotic. The Protagonist Gong and Shou, the Villain, the Cannon Fodder, the Passerby, and a Destined Omega were all gathered in one room.
The atmosphere turned strange.
Fortunately, there was a passerby holding down the fort. Ignoring the turbulent undercurrents in the air, Feng Xing greeted enthusiastically, “You’re here.”
The two walked up to the group. Chi Yanxun didn’t speak, but Su Mu spoke first. “Sorry everyone, I didn’t disturb you by coming over, did I?”
After speaking, he met Shen Shuyuâs gaze, smiled gently, and proactively extended his hand. “Hello, I am Su Mu.”
Feng Xing blinked, looking at the hand hanging in mid-air, and couldn’t help sucking in a breath of cold air.
So fierce. This Su Mu looked gentle and weak, but unexpectedly, he was a brave warrior!
The atmosphere dropped to freezing point. Feng Xing frantically signaled the other two to diffuse the situation, but Wen Jiafei and Shen Xili stood like two henchmen to the left and right behind Shen Shuyu, as if they didn’t sense anything wrong in the air.
Shen Shuyu also lowered his eyes to Su Mu’s extended hand. Staring at it, he sniffed a not-so-great vibe. His gaze traveled up that porcelain-white hand to Su Muâs refreshing smile, and then to the expressionless Chi Yanxun beside him.
Chi Yanxunâs disgust for Shen Shuyu hadn’t dissipated. However, since Su Mu initiated the greeting, although unhappy, he didn’t say much.
Shen Shuyu extended his hand and said with no emotional fluctuation, “Hello.”
He had actually made peace with it. Since things had happened, he could only take it step by step. After all, he couldn’t stop Chi Yanxun from being with anyone. Now he just had to see if he could steer the ending back on track.
Shen Shuyu thought his words were quite sincere, but glancing inadvertently at Chi Yanxun, his expression seemed even more displeased, as if some dirty thing had contaminated his treasure.
Shen Shuyu pretended not to see and withdrew the hand he shook with Su Mu.
Feng Xing interjected naturally, “Since everyone is here, let’s go over the script.”
Feng Xing acted like a lackey and moved a few chairs to form a semicircle. Shen Xili and Wen Jiafei helped out, moving Feng Xing to tears.
He naturally sat in the middle, separating Chi Yanxun and Su Mu.
Holding a script, Feng Xing said, “There’s still a month until the anniversary, so we have plenty of time. Today, let’s just do a table read to get familiar with the characters. If you have any ideas, feel free to bring them up.”
The others didn’t speak. Feng Xing looked around and finally cast a pleading look at Shen Xili sitting next to him.
Shen Xili said, “Okay.”
Feng Xing patted his shoulder. Good brother!
A table read wasn’t anything difficult. They stayed in the classroom for half an hour before dispersing.
Chi Yanxun seemed unable to stay a second longer. As soon as Feng Xing said they could go, he and Su Mu prepared to leave. In contrast, Su Mu smiled and said goodbye to everyone.
Feng Xing smiled as he watched them leave. Once he was sure they were far away, his face collapsed, and he couldn’t help muttering, “What’s there to be so arrogant about?”
It wasn’t just because Shen Shuyu was his friend that he spoke up for him.
Chi Yanxunâs attitude was truly intriguing. He was the one who asked to participate, yet in the end, he acted as if Feng Xing had begged him.
The atmosphere this noon was really awkward. Thinking about having to organize this for a month, Feng Xing felt hopeless.
Shen Shuyu held the script, looking lazy. He looked at Feng Xing and said, “Going back.”
Wen Jiafei and Shen Xili followed close behind. Feng Xing watched the backs of the three walking toward the classrooms, sighed, and hurriedly stepped forward. “You three wait for me!”
The anniversary program list was announced in the middle of the month. As soon as it was released, a lively discussion erupted in the academy. The center of the discussion was none other than three people:
Shen Shuyu, Chi Yanxun, Su Mu.
A pure Shuraba (battlefield).
Shen Shuyu had been keeping a low profile recently, but he couldn’t help that he had been too high-profile before. Now, wherever he went, he felt countless eyes staring at him.
Shen Shuyu had no choice but to wear a hat and mask again, trying hard to minimize his presence. But no matter how careful he was, he was still secretly photographed and uploaded to the academy forum, labeled with words like “the loser in love.”
Shen Shuyu rested his chin on the cold desk, arms hanging down, eyes closed as he listened to Feng Xingâs muttering beside him.
For the past half-month, Chi Yanxun, having the smallest role, rarely met with them. Although Feng Xing wasn’t happy about it, he didn’t dare say anything. He could only seize opportunities to whisper in Shen Shuyuâs ear, preventing Shen Shuyuâs love-brain from flaring up again.
Shen Shuyu had listened until his ears grew calluses.
Feng Xing really had a “hating iron for not becoming steel” attitude toward Shen Shuyu. From his perspective, Shen Shuyu looked wilted, clearly still thinking about Chi Yanxun!
Feng Xing simply pulled a chair over and sat in front of Shen Shuyuâs desk. Shen Shuyu glanced at him, tilted his head, and pretended to sleep.
Feng Xing looked left and right. While others hadn’t arrived yet, he urged earnestly, “My good Yu, stop thinking about Chi Yanxun. I think Shen Xili and Wen Jiafei are both much better than him.”
Shen Shuyu sighed. “When did you see me thinking about Chi Yanxun?”
Feng Xing said, “Like I don’t know what you’re thinking? Let me tell you, Chi Yanxun and Su Mu are getting engaged soon.”
Engaged?!
This was big news. Shen Shuyu immediately sat up straight, meeting Feng Xingâs gaze. Feng Xing felt even more exasperated. “Why are you reacting so fast? You call that not thinking about him?”
Shen Shuyu ignored his remark and asked, “Chi Yanxun and Su Mu are getting engaged? When did this happen? How come I didn’t know?”
Feng Xing said, “I heard it from a senior sister in the Arts Department. She has a good relationship with Su Mu. She let it slip accidentally and told me.”
Shen Shuyu urged, “Can you get to the point?”
Feng Xing said, “Before the New Year, they are going to get engaged. The senior sister doesn’t know the specific date, but for something like this, your family will definitely receive an invitation.”
Amor still continued the ancient tradition of the Spring Festival, which was also the only festival Shen Shuyu was familiar with.
He took out his terminal and checked the calendar. This year, Amor’s Spring Festival was at the end of January.
But if he remembered correctly, Su Mu and Chi Yanxun hadn’t been together for long, right?
Shen Shuyu frowned and couldn’t help asking, “Haven’t they only been together for a short while? Why are they getting engaged so soon?”
Calculating carefully, it had only been a little over a month.
