Chapter 120
After lunch, the actors in their fairy tale group began their first rehearsal with such a full cast. Although Chi Yanxun hadn’t come before, he was smart enough to keep up after walking through it twice. Only then did Feng Xing’s expression look a bit better.
Classes didn’t start until three in the afternoon. Since both Reserve Department members were excellent students, a little delay wouldn’t matter much.
The group rehearsed until past 2:40 PM before disbanding. By the end, Feng Xing’s face finally wasn’t so sour. He said, “The anniversary celebration is two days in total, Thursday and Friday. Thursday is for activities organized by the academy, and Friday is for watching performances and voting. We still have some time. Once we refine the details, it should be about right.”
He glanced at Chi Yanxun and couldn’t help adding, “It’s the last few days. I hope everyone can try their best to come during rehearsals. After all, we’re aiming for first place. With such a good configuration, it would be a pity not to win.”
Good guy, he practically read out Chi Yanxun’s ID number.
However, the person involved didn’t seem to have much emotional fluctuation. He just gave Feng Xing a cold look and left with his things.
“What’s he being so arrogant for?” Feng Xing muttered.
He looked at Shen Shuyu. Shen Shuyu was looking at the main gate. Feng Xing coughed lightly. “What are you looking at? Let’s go.”
Shen Shuyu withdrew his gaze. He had wanted to say he was just watching a bird fly away from the window, but thinking Feng Xing was currently angry, he simply let it slide.
Although Shen Yisi had messaged Shen Shuyu long ago that he was returning, he didn’t come back until close to the anniversary. When Shen Shuyu went home for dinner that night, he saw the living room full of gifts.
Shocked, he looked at Shen Yisi, who was sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper. “Brother, isn’t this a bit too exaggerated?”
Shen Yisi put down the newspaper, looked at him, and waved with a smile. “Where is it exaggerated?”
Shen Shuyu walked over. The housekeeper took his school bag and brought him a cup of warm sweet water. Sitting on the single sofa, he asked back, “Is this not exaggerated?”
He didn’t even know where to start opening them.
Shen Yisi kept a smile on his face. “I was away for a month. I wanted to buy everything I saw for you. You’re working hard at school too. I heard from Feng Xing’s parents that you’re very diligent in rehearsals.”
That Feng Xing, why does he blab about everything?
Shen Shuyu said, “I just did what I should do.”
Shen Yisi said, “No matter what, you’re doing great.”
Shen Shuyu hadn’t forgotten Shen Yisi’s sudden rut during the business trip. Seeing him now, he seemed much better, which relieved him.
He had later searched for the aftereffects of a sudden rut in a single, top-tier Alpha without timely intervention. Every item made his heart tremble with fear. Although Yue Cheng arrived quickly and Shen Yisi occasionally messaged him later, seeing the person in the flesh was more reassuring.
Shen Shuyu said, “You were on this trip for a long time. Was the work troublesome?”
Shen Yisi shook his head. “Not troublesome. Just visited many places. I also went to see Mom and Dad.”
Shen Shuyu was about to reach for the sweet water, but upon hearing this, he pulled his hand back. Honestly, he had only seen the Shen parents in photos. When he first transmigrated, he only heard Father Shen’s voice. The parents were usually busy and didn’t manage Shen Yisi and Shen Shuyu at home.
Shen Shuyu had looked at the original host’s terminal. Previously, the host actively video-called or phoned his mother, but after Shen Shuyu arrived, he hadn’t called once.
Shen Shuyu asked, “Are they in good health?”
“Health is quite good,” Shen Yisi said. “Mom asked me if you were very busy since you didn’t contact her.”
Shen Shuyu opened his mouth. The main reason for not contacting them was that he didn’t know what to say, nor did he know how the original host interacted with them. He was afraid of blowing his cover.
Shen Yisi continued, “I already told Mother you’re busy studying. They also watched your performance in the Survival War. Knowing you’re busy, they didn’t call you either.”
“Oh.” Shen Shuyu thought for a moment. “Then I’ll find time to call them in the next couple of days?”
Shen Yisi said, “Wait a while. They went traveling recently, so don’t disturb them.”
Shen Shuyu nodded. “Okay.”
It didn’t make a difference sooner or later anyway.
He reached out to pick up the bowl of sweet water in front of him, stirred it with a spoon, and drank quietly.
Shen Yisi also took a sip of warm water from a glass cup. He asked, “By the way, are there many people in your rehearsal?”
“Not many. Including all staff, no more than ten.” Shen Shuyu didn’t understand why Shen Yisi suddenly asked this.
Shen Yisi’s eyes were gentle. “When your anniversary is over, how about I book a celebration banquet table for you at a five-star hotel?”
“Sure.” Shen Shuyu had no objections. “But I have to ask if they’re willing to come.”
“They will definitely be willing.” Shen Yisi put down the cup. “After all, the best classmate in the world is treating them to dinner; they have no reason to refuse.”
Praised like that, Shen Shuyu coughed lightly. “Well, not necessarily.”
Both brothers couldn’t help laughing.
After dinner, Shen Shuyu took a hot bath. Feeling warm all over, he put on pajamas and burrowed into the quilt, letting out a satisfied sigh.
So comfortable. He rolled around in the quilt a few times. It was strange; the bed in the house near the school was identical to this one, but sleeping at home just felt much more comfortable.
Shen Shuyu took a deep breath, intending to scroll through his terminal before sleeping, when he heard a knock at the door. He glanced over, guessing it might be Shen Yisi, but it was so late. Did he have urgent business?
Shen Shuyu quickly threw off the covers and climbed out of bed. He strode to the door and opened it. Sure enough, it was Shen Yisi.
Shen Yisi was holding a glass of milk. His gaze fell on Shen Shuyu’s bare feet, and he frowned. “Why did you come over without shoes? Go put shoes on.”
Shen Shuyu looked down. “I was afraid you had something urgent. Putting them on right now.”
He ran back to put on shoes. When he walked back, Shen Yisi admonished, “It’s winter now. Not wearing shoes makes it easy to catch a cold.”
“Won’t happen,” Shen Shuyu said. “The heating in the house is very strong.”
“Even if it’s strong, wear shoes.” Shen Yisi pursed his lips in displeasure. Shen Shuyu made a swearing gesture. “Okay, I swear, I will wear shoes properly in the future. Otherwise, I will…”
Before he could finish, Shen Yisi pressed the glass against his lips. Shen Yisi said helplessly, “It’s just wearing shoes; why are you making vows?”
Shen Shuyu took the milk himself. “I brushed my teeth already.”
“Brush again. Drink some milk to help sleep,” Shen Yisi said. “Sleep early. I’ll drive you to school tomorrow.”
“Alright.” Shen Shuyu drank the milk in one go in front of Shen Yisi. He actually didn’t like milk much; he couldn’t stand the smell.
Shen Yisi couldn’t help smiling. “Alright, I’m going to rest too.”
Shen Shuyu made an ‘OK’ sign and rushed into the bathroom. By the time he finished brushing his teeth and came out again, Shen Yisi had already closed the door for him and left.
The next day.
Shen Shuyu yawned sitting in the car. Beside him, Shen Yisi was energetic, looking at the latest work progress. Shen Shuyu struggled to look twice before deciding to give up and closed his eyes to catch up on sleep.
Shen Yisi glanced at him, shook his head helplessly, and continued reading the work report.
The driver drove very smoothly. Shen Shuyu slept in a daze until he felt someone shaking him. He opened his eyes and looked out the window; they were already at the academy.
He yawned and turned to Shen Yisi. “Then, Brother, I’m going. Rehearsal today, so I won’t go home. Remember to come on Friday.”
Shen Yisi raised his hand and rubbed his head. “I know. I’ve already moved work forward or postponed it. I definitely won’t be late on Friday.”
Shen Shuyu signaled ‘OK’. “See you Friday.”
“See you Friday.”
Shen Shuyu opened the door and entered the academy. After his back disappeared, the driver prepared to restart the car, but heard Shen Yisi in the back seat say, “Wait a bit.”
The driver agreed.
Shen Yisi’s gaze remained fixed on the school gate. He didn’t know how long he watched until he finally saw the figure he wanted to see.
The person was carrying a bag, holding a cup of soy milk, walking and talking with a familiar classmate.
Shen Yisi watched for a few moments, then rolled up the window. “Let’s go.”
The driver started the car.
At the school gate, the classmate said, “Xili, was the person in that car just now looking at you?”
Shen Xili threw the finished soy milk carton into a nearby trash can, glancing at the car leaving the school gate. The windows were one-way; the inside couldn’t be seen from the outside.
He said, “You must have sensed wrong. I don’t know any luxury car owners.”
The classmate smiled. “Don’t say that. What if you own a luxury car in the future?”
Shen Xili said “Ah” and replied casually, not taking it seriously, “That would be truly great.”
