I Became a Heartthrob After Transmigrating into an ABO World chapter 146

Chapter 146

The boxing match began.

The referee blew the whistle, and Zhong threw a vicious punch aimed straight at Wen Jiafei’s face. Wen Jiafei took a step back to dodge the attack.

Naturally, he didn’t show any weakness and immediately swung a fist at Zhong.

From the very beginning, it seemed neither of them intended to hold back.

Shen Shuyu stood below the stage, frowning as he stared at the two entangled figures. Before they came, Shen Xili had warned them that Zhong was not weak and urged them to be careful, careful, and careful again.

Wen Jiafei wasn’t as worried as Shen Shuyu. Although Zhong was skilled, Wen Jiafei had his own advantages in the boxing ring. He quickly established a dominating presence.

Shen Shuyu’s tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly. He stood amidst the lively crowd, everyone screaming Wen Jiafei’s name at the top of their lungs.

Although he had long known that Wen Jiafei frequently fought in underground matches to earn medical fees, getting covered in injuries every time, he had to admit—Wen Jiafei was dazzling on stage. No one could tear their eyes away from him.

Shen Shuyu watched the muscles on his body and the sweat sliding down their contours, and slowly raised his hand to cover his chest.

No one could stop their heart from racing for a Wen Jiafei like this. He had never seen him look this way before.

Although Wen Jiafei had an overwhelming advantage, he held back a little to prolong the match. When he was pushed apart by a punch from Zhong, he used the momentum to glance out of the corner of his eye at the spot where Shen Shuyu was standing.

Shen Shuyu was bundled up tight, so Wen Jiafei couldn’t see his expression clearly, but he met those eyes. Shen Shuyu curved his eyes at him—he was probably smiling, right?

For some reason, Wen Jiafei suddenly felt relieved.

After steadying himself, he cracked his neck and rotated his wrists, signaling Shen Shuyu.

Shen Shuyu naturally noticed the signal. Although he wanted to watch Wen Jiafei beat Zhong into the ground, there was serious business to attend to. He took a deep breath, reluctantly withdrew his gaze, and used the surging crowd as cover to quietly leave the spectator stands.

While the front was deafening with noise, the backstage area seemed much quieter.

Shen Shuyu had heard Wen Jiafei mention that Yi Ge had spent a fortune on top-tier soundproofing, so the front and back could be considered two different worlds.

It was safe for him to work here; he would be able to hear even the slightest movement.

Shen Shuyu made his way to the backstage area with practiced ease. Just as Wen Jiafei had said, there was basically no one around; everyone was out front watching the match between Wen Jiafei and Zhong.

Even so, Shen Shuyu asked the System to keep an eye on the surroundings. The System was very considerate and conveniently hacked the surveillance cameras in the area.

With that, Shen Shuyu felt bold enough to proceed. He pulled the locker key Wen Jiafei had given him out of his pocket. Wen Jiafei had prepared in advance, making a key that looked like the main door key, while the real key had been given to Shen Shuyu when they entered.

Shen Shuyu unlocked the door and went in. After closing it, he went straight to the locker where Zhong kept his clothes. He tugged on the door—it was locked tight.

He thought for a moment, took a piece of wire from his pocket, and gently inserted it into the keyhole. He thought it would take some time, but unexpectedly, the locker door popped open with ease.

Shen Shuyu put the wire back in his pocket and wasted no time rummaging through the clothes Zhong had left inside.

The System had said it was in an inner pocket, but after searching, he didn’t see the glass bottle containing the Mother Bug.

Strange.

Did he not bring it?

Shen Shuyu immediately sent a message to Shen Xili. Five minutes later, Shen Xili replied: he hadn’t found the Mother Bug either.

Could the Mother Bug have vanished into thin air?

Shen Shuyu pursed his lips, put the clothes back in place, closed everything up, and ran back to the spectator seats. The match on stage was still fiercely underway. By the time he returned, both Wen Jiafei and Zhong seemed to be struggling with their stamina.

He squeezed back to his previous spot just in time to see Zhong pin Wen Jiafei to the ground, a fist smashing toward his head.

Wen Jiafei guarded his head, looking for a chance to counterattack, but caught a glimpse of Shen Shuyu returning to the crowd in his peripheral vision.

The three of them had agreed: regardless of who found the Mother Bug, Shen Shuyu would not appear in the audience. But now that he was back, it meant there was likely a change in plans, or neither of them had found the Mother Bug.

As he blocked Zhong’s attacks, his brain was extremely active. He recalled the rounds he had fought with Zhong. Whether attacking or defending, Zhong seemed to be unconsciously protecting his left side.

Wen Jiafei glanced lightly in that direction and sure enough, he saw an unnatural bulge. There seemed to be something in the left pocket.

Wen Jiafei immediately formulated a response. He exerted force to rise, throwing a punch directly at Zhong’s left side. Seeing the attack aimed at his left thigh, Zhong hurriedly stood up and retreated a step.

But this retreat only confirmed Wen Jiafei’s suspicion. This guy had actually brought it onto the stage with him.

He had to force Zhong to remove the Mother Bug from his person, or else their efforts tonight would be in vain.

Wen Jiafei remained calm and collected, directing every punch toward Zhong’s left side. Zhong realized his earlier retreat had given him away and gritted his teeth, defending desperately.

However, Wen Jiafei seized upon this weakness and attacked wildly. Even if Zhong wanted to defend, he couldn’t withstand the mad offensive.

Zhong gritted his teeth and quickly made a gesture to the referee.

The referee blew the whistle. “Match paused.”

Underground boxing naturally didn’t have as many rules as professional matches. The main point here was excitement, and contestants were allowed to call a temporary halt.

However, after the pause was called, the crowd jeered at Zhong. The two had fought brilliantly, but anyone who watched these matches regularly could tell both were holding back.

Zhong applied for a five-minute timeout. The referee looked toward Yi Ge, who was sitting on the second floor.

Yi Ge smiled, toying with the prayer beads in his hand, and nodded. Just five minutes.

Wen Jiafei looked at him as both walked off the stage. Seeing this, Shen Shuyu wanted to go over to Wen Jiafei, but Wen Jiafei seemed to anticipate his movement and shook his head at him.

He sat on the rest bench, took off one boxing glove, and then spat out his mouthguard.

This scene was projected onto the large screen by the cameras, and the venue instantly erupted in even more frenzied screams.

“Ahhhhhh Fei!!! Don’t bite the mouthguard, bite me!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!”

Shen Shuyu was startled by the person next to him. He glanced quickly at them; their face was flushed red from screaming.

Just then, Wen Jiafei actually looked over. His gaze landed vaguely near Shen Shuyu, which caused the others to scream in madness.

“Ahhhhhhh Fei!!!! Fei!!!!”

Shen Shuyu rubbed his ears. He looked at Wen Jiafei, seeing that he was watching him, raised his hand, gave him a thumbs up, and subtly pointed at the person beside him.

Wen Jiafei smiled gently.

The entire venue boiled over.

On the second floor.

Yi Ge naturally knew who Wen Jiafei was looking at. He had invited Shen Shuyu to sit on the second floor earlier, but Shen Shuyu had refused. Seeing the two making eyes at each other, he couldn’t help but say to the secretary beside him, “That expensive smile of Fei’s… look how bewildered he’s made people. If he had smiled like that before, I reckon even more people would have bet on him.”

In this world, there were plenty of people willing to throw away a fortune for a beauty’s smile.

It was a pity. Fei had always been taciturn and cold-faced before. Tonight, hearing Fei speak and seeing him smile—it was more than all the previous times combined.
