I Became a Heartthrob After Transmigrating into an ABO World chapter 148

Chapter 148

Wen Jiafei changed quickly and walked out. Shen Shuyu withdrew the gaze that had been secretly watching Zhong and stood up to meet Wen Jiafei.

He said, “Yi Ge said the money has been sent to your old account.”

Wen Jiafei gave a hum of acknowledgement. Yi Ge grinned and said, “Alright, go back and rest first. Once you’re rested, give me a call, and we’ll discuss the special event.”

Wen Jiafei didn’t respond, only saying, “We’re leaving then.”

Yi Ge waved his hand. “Go on, go on.”

Then he turned to ask Zhong, “Did you finish counting?”

Zhong put the money away. “Counted. It’s all there.”

Yi Ge fingered his prayer beads. “Of course. I, Yi Ge, am always honest and trustworthy in business.”

Having said that, he swaggered out.

Zhong looked at the empty room and took a deep breath. Forget it, better to go home early. His little darlings at home were still waiting to eat.

Shen Shuyu supported Wen Jiafei as they walked out of the boxing gym’s main gate. The streets outside had been lively when they entered, but now they were deserted, with hardly anyone around.

Winter in Amor was much colder and desolate than summer.

Shen Shuyu had intended to hail a cab, but seeing none, the two of them walked slowly along the roadside. Once they were some distance away and sure no one was around, Wen Jiafei finally broke the silence between them.

“Where is the thing?” he asked.

Shen Shuyu continued to support him. “Oh, gave it to him.”

“He came here?” Wen Jiafei pursed his lips. “Then you shouldn’t have come back.”

Places like this were a mixed bag. If Shen Shuyu hadn’t worn his hat or mask properly, it could have attracted unnecessary trouble, especially since he had gained a lot of popularity during the Survival Battle.

Shen Shuyu thought for a moment. “It’s fine. Anyway, back in the Survival Battle, those fans were shipping us as a couple. It won’t affect anything.”

Wen Jiafei fell silent again. Shen Shuyu pursed his lips, glancing at Wen Jiafei a few times. His brain finally came back online. Lately, as his friendship with Wen Jiafei deepened, he had forgotten that a major villain like Wen Jiafei in the book would likely care about this sort of thing.

Earlier in the boxing gym, to give him a legitimate reason to go backstage, Wen Jiafei had already worked very, very hard to play a character he disliked.

Shen Shuyu cleared his throat lightly. Before Wen Jiafei could speak, he hurriedly changed the subject. “By the way, the injuries on your body… are they okay?”

Wen Jiafei said indifferently, “It’s nothing. I’ll be fine after resting for two days.”

Shen Shuyu let out a long “Oh,” then added, “Really, thank you this time.”

Wen Jiafei suddenly stopped walking. Shen Shuyu didn’t understand what he was doing and stopped as well, looking at him in confusion. “What’s wrong? Do you feel unwell?”

Wen Jiafei just looked at him, his face devoid of much expression. He simply asked, “Why are you saying thank you?”

“Huh?” Shen Shuyu didn’t quite understand Wen Jiafei’s meaning. He was just about to ask what he meant, but when he looked at Wen Jiafei, the latter’s expression seemed somewhat annoyed.

Wen Jiafei didn’t wait for Shen Shuyu’s answer. He said briefly, “Let’s go.”

With that, he continued to limp forward. Shen Shuyu stood in place, thought for a few seconds, and finally gave up. Forget it, he couldn’t understand the protagonist group’s thoughts, nor could he guess them.

He sped up to catch up. “I’ll support you, walk a bit slower…”

The two returned to Shen Shuyu’s home. Shen Xili had been waiting for a long time. Seeing Wen Jiafei being helped in, he frowned, walked over, and asked, “Are you okay?”

Wen Jiafei didn’t speak, looking weak.

Shen Shuyu helped him onto the sofa. “He said it’s nothing serious, just needs some rest. Where’s the thing?”

After retrieving the item, he had contacted Shen Xili to come pick it up. Originally, they had agreed to retreat as soon as they got the Mother Bug, but Shen Shuyu was really worried about leaving Wen Jiafei alone to face Zhong. Zhong was sinister and cunning; if he discovered the trick, Wen Jiafei wouldn’t be able to handle him alone.

So when Shen Xili arrived, Shen Shuyu chose to stay, letting Shen Xili take the Mother Bug back and wait for them.

Shen Shuyu’s gaze fell on Wen Jiafei again. He was incredibly glad he had chosen to stay and wait for Wen Jiafei, otherwise, it would have taken him a long time to get back alone.

Noticing Shen Shuyu’s gaze, Wen Jiafei felt uncomfortable all over. He cleared his throat lightly and asked, “Where is the thing?”

Shen Xili took the glass bottle covered in black cloth out of his pocket. “The bug has shown no abnormalities.”

Shen Shuyu rubbed his arms through his clothes. “Sometimes I really can’t figure it out. How can he live in the same house with so many bugs without batting an eye?”

Shen Xili just glanced at him. “Who knows?”

He removed the black cloth from the glass bottle, revealing the bottle itself and the Mother Bug lying at the bottom.

Shen Shuyu squatted by the coffee table, resting his chin on the table to look at the Mother Bug at eye level. Earlier in the locker room, afraid of being discovered, he had only taken a hurried glance. Now, examining it safely and at leisure… looking closely, it really did resemble the bug parasitizing Shen Xili’s heart in his dream.

Shen Shuyu shook his head. “It looks a bit low-spirited.”

Shen Xili covered it with the black cloth again. “Yes, generally Mother Bugs affect human mental power. Even someone like Zhong, who grew up with bugs, can’t avoid it.”

That was why the bottle was completely wrapped in black cloth.

Shen Shuyu asked, “So here’s the problem. We have the Mother Bug, but how do we get the bug out of your body? Or do we just kill the Mother Bug directly?”

Shen Xili’s expression grew solemn. Shen Shuyu scoffed, “Don’t tell me you don’t know.”

Shen Xili indeed did not know.

Shen Shuyu sighed. He thought for a moment. “How about—”

Before he could start, Shen Xili interrupted him. “I’ll think about it.”

Shen Shuyu shrugged. “Fine. Anyway, the Mother Bug is in our hands now, so the problem is more than half solved.”

Shen Xili gave a hum of agreement. “Regardless of whether we can force the bug out of my body in the end, thank you both.”

Shen Shuyu said, “Don’t thank me, thank Wen Jiafei. He put in the most effort.”

Then he looked at Wen Jiafei with a smile. “I have to say, you’re really amazing.”

Wen Jiafei replied, “Just average.”

“So modest,” Shen Shuyu remarked. Then he couldn’t help but say, “But covered in injuries like this, how will you explain it to Auntie?”

Wen Jiafei said, “I told her I had a class reunion tonight and would be back late. She’ll be asleep by the time I get back.”

Tomorrow morning, he would leave early. When he returned in the afternoon, he would be mostly recovered. Even if she saw something by accident, he could make up a reason to gloss over it.

Shen Shuyu said, “Alright. If there are any problems, remember to tell us.”

Wen Jiafei nodded slightly. “Okay.”

“Alright, it’s getting late. Shen Xili, what do you plan to do with this bug?” Shen Shuyu looked at Shen Xili again. “Right now, we don’t have a better idea.”

Shen Xili rubbed the fabric with his fingers. “I’ll take it back and think about it.”

As soon as Shen Xili said this, Shen Shuyu vetoed it. “No.”

The other two looked at him in unison. Shen Shuyu said, “Zhong definitely knows the Mother Bug is missing by now. The first person he’ll look for is you. Taking the Mother Bug with you is just waiting for him to snatch it.”

That made sense, but leaving it at Wen Jiafei’s house wasn’t convenient either. Their doors were opposite each other, and since Wen Jiafei had boxed with Zhong, it couldn’t be kept there.

Shen Shuyu said, “Let’s keep it here with me for now. I’ll take it back to the Shen family home tomorrow. Until we figure out a solution, my home is the safest place.”

Setting aside how hard it was to enter their district, his home had people around 24 hours a day. It was incredibly safe.

Shen Xili said, “That’s the only way.”

Wen Jiafei had no objections either. Shen Shuyu looked at the silently nodding Wen Jiafei and added, “Right now, I’m more worried about Auntie Wen.”

They lived too close. He was afraid that if Zhong started investigating, he might target Wen Yue, especially since she was home alone during the day.

“I’ll find someone to help keep an eye on things during the day,” Shen Xili said. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you get dragged into my troubles.”

Wen Jiafei looked at Shen Xili. His face didn’t show much expression, but a flicker of scrutiny passed through his eyes.
