Shen Shuyu watched Wen Jiafei’s departing figure. He wasn’t sure why, but he felt like Wen Jiafei seemed a bit unhappy.

Shen Yisi leaned back on the sofa, pressing his fingers against his temples. “Understood.”

Shen Shuyu didn’t leave directly but went to the ward to see Shen Xili first.

Shen Shuyu thought for a moment, told the driver, and ran over quickly. “Wen Jiafei!”
Hearing someone call him, Wen Jiafei turned his head and saw Shen Shuyu running toward him. For some reason, his heart seemed to liven up a bit, but thinking of something, he quickly returned to normal.
He stood there waiting for Shen Shuyu to come over. Shen Shuyu was panting slightly, his breath turning into white mist in the air. After catching his breath, he asked, “Shall I give you a ride back?”

He said, “Let’s go.”
Wen Jiafei glanced at the car, not quite understanding.
Shen Shuyu explained, “I told the driver not to take me. Since we’re going the same way, I’ll walk with you for a bit.”
As he spoke, he started walking forward. After taking two steps and seeing Wen Jiafei hadn’t followed, he turned back. “What are you staring for? Let’s go.”
Only then did Wen Jiafei move, following silently.
The two walked in silence for a while. Shen Shuyu asked, “By the way, did you go see Shen Xili just now?”
Wen Jiafei said stiffly, “No.”
“Alright,” Shen Shuyu said. “I went to see him just now; he’s fine.”

Wen Jiafei didn’t understand why Shen Shuyu was apologizing. He asked, “What?”

“Why apologize?” Wen Jiafei was puzzled.
Shen Shuyu said, “I shouldn’t have dragged you into this. If something happened to you, I wouldn’t know how to explain it to Auntie Wen.”
Wen Jiafei understood. He said, “There’s nothing to apologize for.”
Shen Shuyu shook his head. “Still need to apologize. It wasn’t your business to begin with, and you got hurt because of it.”
Wen Jiafei looked into Shen Shuyu’s eyes and didn’t speak immediately.
Shen Shuyu waved his hand in front of his eyes several times before Wen Jiafei came back to his senses. He didn’t answer Shen Shuyu’s words but asked instead, “Then what does Shen Xili’s business have to do with you?”
