Chapter 168
The two walked side by side toward the outside. Thinking of something, Shen Shuyu took out his terminal. He had felt it vibrate during class earlier but hadn’t checked it then.
Being interrupted by Feng Xing earlier, he had forgotten about it again, but now he remembered.
Shen Shuyu opened his message list. Shen Xili’s message was pinned at the top. He thought to himself, Didn’t we say we were breaking off relations for a day?
He tapped open the chat with Shen Xili while walking, but stopped in his tracks after seeing the message. His originally relaxed and happy face instantly turned serious.
Noticing his unusual behavior, Wen Jiafei thought for a moment and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Shen Shuyu turned the terminal over and showed the screen to Wen Jiafei.
[Shen Xili: Zhong’s companion is here.. /.]
Zhong’s companion??
On the day of Shen Xili’s surgery, Zhong was rescued. Although Shen Yisi said he had sent people to search, there had been no news for two days. Unexpectedly, only a few days had passed, and they had brazenly come looking for him?
Wen Jiafei also frowned. He said, “Try calling him.”
Shen Shuyu nodded and dialed the number. He dialed several times in a row, but no one answered.
Wen Jiafei asked, “Where is he?”
“Don’t know,” Shen Shuyu said. “He only said he was skipping class.”
Shen Shuyu estimated that they must have run into each other suddenly. After all, the message Shen Xili sent contained messy punctuation marks; he had never sent messages like that to Shen Shuyu before.
Now that the phone couldn’t get through either, he had probably encountered some tricky situation.
Shen Shuyu pursed his lips. “The situation feels bad.”
Wen Jiafei hummed in agreement, temporarily putting aside the discomfort in his heart. “Let’s look for him.”
Shen Shuyu nodded. He also felt that finding Shen Xili first was the priority, as he still had injuries.
“Split up and search. If you find him, contact by phone. If not, meet at the school gate,” Wen Jiafei calmly assigned tasks. Finally, his gaze fell on Shen Shuyu, and he offered a somewhat stiff comfort: “Don’t worry.”
Shen Shuyu nodded. “Okay, I’ll search this side, you search that side.”
He didn’t hear the strangeness in Wen Jiafei’s tone. After speaking, he turned and hurriedly left. Wen Jiafei watched his back until he disappeared from sight, lowered his eyes in silence for a few seconds, took a deep breath, and went to search for people too.
The two searched almost the entire school but couldn’t find Shen Xili. Shen Shuyu went to the place where Shen Xili confessed to him, but he wasn’t there either.
He sighed. Just as he was about to go to the school gate to meet Wen Jiafei, something reflective caught his eye in his peripheral vision. Shen Shuyu walked over quickly, and only when he got closer did he find a terminal under the bench.
It was Shen Xili’s terminal!
Shen Shuyu gripped the terminal tightly and looked around, but didn’t see Shen Xili himself.
Could something unexpected have happened?
Shen Shuyu dared not think about it. Just as he was about to take out his own terminal to send a message to Shen Yisi explaining the situation and asking for help finding the person, his terminal vibrated.
A message from an unknown number popped up. Intuition told him it might be related to Shen Xili. After tapping it open, sure enough, it was a photo of Shen Xili.
He was tied tightly to a chair with thick ropes, head lowered as if unconscious. The clothes on his body were stained with crisscrossing bloodstains; it looked like he had been tortured.
Without thinking much, Shen Shuyu prepared to dial the unknown number, but the other party sent another message faster.
[Don’t make a scene. Help us find something in his house. Since you two are so close, you should know where the item is.]
Attached was a three-second video. The video showed an oval object that looked silver, but upon closer inspection, there was a flowing light running across it, very beautiful.
Shen Shuyu hadn’t seen this silver object, but he seemed to have seen this flowing light somewhere.
[You have until 8 PM tonight to find the item for me. If you haven’t found it after 8 PM, you can only come to collect his corpse.]
8 PM?
Shen Shuyu glanced at the watch on his wrist. It was already almost 1 PM. There seemed to be a lot of time, but it was actually very tight.
Shen Shuyu dared not delay. He left hurriedly holding the terminal. On the way, he met Feng Xing. Seeing his anxious look, Feng Xing asked loudly, “Where are you going?”
Shen Shuyu didn’t answer. When he arrived at the school gate, Wen Jiafei happened to arrive there too. He said, “I didn’t find anyone.”
Seeing Shen Shuyu’s terrible expression, he asked, “What happened?”
Shen Shuyu took a deep breath and showed him the content of the message he received.
Wen Jiafei fell silent after seeing it.
Shen Shuyu said, “I’m going to his house to find the item. You go back first.”
He dared not waste a single moment. After speaking, he wanted to walk out, but Wen Jiafei grabbed his wrist.
Shen Shuyu turned to look. Wen Jiafei said softly, “I’ll go with you.”
Shen Shuyu opened his mouth. “But they only told me to go alone…”
Wen Jiafei took the terminal from his hand, lowered his head, and edited a message to send over.
The other side must have been watching the terminal constantly. As soon as Wen Jiafei sent it, the other party replied.
[yu: It’s a bit difficult for me to search alone. I want someone to search with me.]
[Fine, but I advise you not to play any tricks, otherwise I can’t guarantee what Shen Xili will encounter. I’ll be watching you constantly.]
Wen Jiafei returned the terminal to Shen Shuyu. “Let’s go.”
Shen Shuyu glanced at it and nodded. “Okay.”
But after taking two steps, Wen Jiafei stopped again. He quickly said to Shen Shuyu, “Wait for me here for a moment.”
Although Shen Shuyu didn’t know what he was going to do, he still nodded. “Okay.”
He watched Wen Jiafei leave hurriedly toward the Reserve Army’s area. He came back about ten minutes later.
Shen Shuyu asked, “Where did you go?”
Wen Jiafei opened his hand, showing him the item in his palm—a key. “Shen Xili’s house key.”
“Right.” Shen Shuyu patted his head in frustration. He was truly confused by anxiety. Without the key, even if they went, they couldn’t enter the door, so it would be a wasted trip.
Wen Jiafei paused for a moment. “Let’s go.”
Shen Shuyu nodded. The two quickly left the school. When getting into the car, Wen Jiafei didn’t forget to message the teacher and thoughtfully requested leave for Shen Xili as well.
Wen Jiafei looked out the car window. Shen Shuyu’s anxiety wasn’t fake. Had their feelings deepened to this extent?
Wen Jiafei couldn’t help thinking, if one day he was also in deep trouble, would Shen Shuyu worry about him like this too?
“Wen Jiafei? Wen Jiafei?”
Wen Jiafei came back to his senses. He turned to look at Shen Shuyu. “What is it?”
Shen Shuyu said worriedly, “I feel this matter isn’t simple. Is he really in danger?”
Wen Jiafei pursed his lips. “Hard to say.”
After all, he already knew some of Shen Xili’s background. To kidnap someone so brazenly in Amor, it was likely related to his past background.
Wen Jiafei took a slow, deep breath. Although he knew Shen Xili was very capable and Shen Shuyu wasn’t weak, they were ultimately still students. If they really encountered danger, he couldn’t guarantee their chances of winning.
Shen Shuyu sighed, took out his terminal again, and carefully watched that three-second video.
Where exactly had he seen it?
This flowing light was really, really familiar.
Shen Shuyu closed his eyes and leaned against the back of the seat, hoping he could fall asleep just like this. Shen Xili was in danger; maybe his prophetic dream ability would activate again.
After all, the last time he dreamed, it was about Shen Xili being in deep danger.
But his heart was in turmoil right now. Miscellaneous thoughts filled his brain, making it impossible to calm down, so falling asleep failed.
Wen Jiafei, sitting beside him, took all his expressions into his eyes. He lowered his eyes, his gaze landing on his own chest.
So strange; his heart started feeling uncomfortable again.
