The next day, Shen Shuyu woke up promptly at eight o’clock. He felt full of energy; he hadn’t slept this soundly in a long time, and he hadn’t even dreamt once throughout the night.
Shen Shuyu got out of bed and washed up. He stretched his limbs and then headed downstairs. Shen Yisi was sitting on the sofa. Hearing footsteps, he turned his head. “You’re awake?”
Shen Shuyu rarely saw Shen Yisi at home at this hour. He quickened his pace down the stairs and asked, “Ge, aren’t you going to work today?”
“There isn’t much work today. It’s the same if I go a bit later,” Shen Yisi said. “Are you hungry? Shall I cook a bowl of wontons for you?”
Shen Shuyu was about to say there was no need to trouble him, but Shen Yisi had already stood up and walked toward the kitchen. A domestic helper went over to ask if he needed help, but Shen Yisi declined.
Shen Shuyu followed him into the kitchen. Watching Shen Yisi skillfully boil the pre-wrapped little wontons, he couldn’t help but say, “Ge, I can’t even imagine how happy my future sister-in-law will be.”
Shen Yisi glanced back at him. “Is that so?”

Shen Shuyu added, “By the way, where are Mom and Dad?”
“Mom is feeling a bit unwell from the journey. She and Dad went to the hospital early this morning for a check-up,” Shen Yisi said. “They probably won’t be back until noon.”
Shen Shuyu let out an ‘oh’. “If I had known, I would have gone too.”
Shen Yisi turned to look at him. “Hmm? Where are you feeling unwell?”
“No,” Shen Shuyu said. “I bought some local specialties for Yue Cheng-ge. If I’d known Mom and Dad were going to the hospital today, I would have followed them to give him the gifts. But since that’s the case, I’ll give the specialties to you. See when you have time and give them to Yue Cheng-ge for me.”
Shen Yisi and Yue Cheng met up frequently; they could just give them to Yue Cheng the next time they hung out.
However, today Shen Yisi didn’t agree directly as he usually did. Instead, he said, “This is your sentiment; you should give them to him yourself.”
Shen Shuyu thought about it and realized he was right. “Alright then, I’ll go find him after I eat. I’ll come back with Mom and Dad then.”
Shen Yisi said, “Okay, I’ll drop you off on my way to work.”
The two brothers quickly reached an agreement. As Shen Shuyu sat at the dining table eating the wontons, Shen Yisi sat opposite him, seemingly in a daze.
It was rare; his brother was actually spacing out?
Shen Shuyu waved his hand in front of his eyes. It took a long moment for Shen Yisi to react. “What’s wrong?”
Shen Shuyu asked, “Ge, what are you thinking about? You’re so absorbed.”
Shen Yisi shook his head. “It’s nothing. I was just wondering if thereās a meeting this afternoon. Hurry up and eat; I need to head to the company too.”
“Oh.” Shen Shuyu obediently went back to eating his wontons, but for some reason, he felt that Shen Yisiās state today was a bit off.
But as for what exactly was wrong, he couldn’t say. Forget it.
His brother could handle it.
It was after nine-thirty when Shen Yisi dropped Shen Shuyu off at the hospital. He had just spoken with Father and Mother Shen; they were waiting for the reports and having tea in Yue Chengās office.
Shen Shuyu was carrying his things and was about to get out of the car when he turned back and asked, “Ge, aren’t you going up to say hello?”
Shen Yisi said gently, “I won’t. I still have things to do at the company.”
Shen Shuyu nodded. “Alright, I’m going up then.”
He pushed open the car door and got out. Shen Yisi watched Shen Shuyu walk into the inpatient department, then his gaze followed upward toward the tall building. After lingering on a certain floor for a moment, he withdrew his eyes, restarted the car, and drove away.
Shen Shuyu carried the specialties he brought up to Yue Chengās office. Yue Cheng and Father and Mother Shen were chatting. Seeing Shen Shuyu arrive, Yue Cheng smiled and asked, “Is it cold outside?”
It had snowed all night again in Amour, and now that the snow was melting, the temperature had dropped significantly.
Shen Shuyu lifted his gifts and said, “It’s not cold. My brother dropped me off right at the entrance.”
Shen Shuyu was looking at Yue Cheng and noticed that his expression seemed to stiffen for a split second, though it vanished instantly. He wondered if he had seen it wrong.
Father Shen asked, “If Yisi was here, why didn’t he come up?”
Shen Shuyu replied, “He said he had things to do at the company and left first.”
He walked over and sat down next to Yue Cheng. Yue Cheng poured him some hot tea. “Drink some tea to warm up your body.”
Shen Shuyu hummed in response. He handed over his gifts. “Yue Cheng-ge, I bought some local specialties for you.”
Yue Cheng said, “Thank you, Xiao Yu.”
As he took the gifts, Mother Shen also asked, “Xiao Yue, are your parents coming back for the Lunar New Year this year?”
Yue Cheng said, “Probably not. They’re busy.”
Yue Chengās parents were also doctors, but they had gone out to be interstellar doctors years ago and rarely came home. In previous years, Shen Yisi would either bring him home for the New Year or he would spend it alone.
Mother Shen said, “Then come spend the New Year at our house again this year. I’ll have the kitchen prepare the dishes you like.”
Yue Cheng didn’t agree immediately but said gently, “Thank you, Auntie. We’ll see when the time comes; I might have to be on duty.”
Shen Shuyu turned his head to look at Yue Cheng. He didn’t know if it was his imagination, but he felt that Yue Cheng seemed a bit strange today.
However, watching him chat with Father and Mother Shen, Shen Shuyu leaned back. He probably was overthinking it; everyone instinctively became well-behaved in front of elders.
Shen Shuyuās gaze randomly fell on Yue Cheng. Just as Yue Cheng lowered his head to check the terminal in his hand, a gap appeared between his nape and the half-high collar of his sweater. Shen Shuyu saw what looked like a wound on the gland at the back of Yue Cheng’s neck.
It looked as if it had been repeatedly bitten by someone.
But strangely, weren’t gland teeth something only Alphas had?
An Omega couldn’t possibly bite out a wound like that.
