Chapter 20
Shen Shuyu hadn’t expected things to escalate into two top-tier Alphas fighting in front of him. The Alpha squatting in the corner had already been suppressed to the point of lying on the floor, and the people outside didn’t dare enter at all.
This was Shen Shuyu’s first time directly facing such a scene of pheromone warfare. He felt very uncomfortable. The pine scent didn’t attack him; in fact, it carried a soothing implication.
But Chi Yanxun didn’t think that way. He was already annoyed with Shen Shuyu, and now, provoked by Shen Yisi, he basically didn’t consider what his pheromones would do to Shen Shuyu.
Shen Shuyu felt like he couldn’t breathe. He gasped out in discomfort, “Brother, Brother…”
Because he spoke, Shen Yisi snapped back to reality. He retracted his pheromones, walked quickly to Shen Shuyu’s side, and knelt on one knee, completely ignoring Chi Yanxun.
Once the pine scent vanished, Chi’s father was finally able to withstand the pressure and enter the room. He stood in front of Chi Yanxun, glared at him, and gritted his teeth, “You ungrateful son, isn’t this mess big enough for you?”
Chi Yanxun pursed his lips, cast a cold glance at the two Shen brothers, retracted his pheromones, and strode out of the room.
Shen Yisi’s gaze swept over Shen Shuyu. Seeing him soaking wet, he hurriedly took off his suit jacket and draped it over Shen Shuyu’s shoulders.
He tried hard to make his tone sound less angry, but he couldn’t help leaking some of his murderous intent.
Shen Yisi asked, “Xiao Yu, where do you feel uncomfortable?”
Shen Shuyu shook his head and said, “Brother, I’m fine. Don’t be angry. It was Chi Yanxun and his friend who saved me.”
Hearing this from the side, Chi’s father hurriedly urged the family doctor to come in. He said, “Yisi, let the doctor check on Xiao Yu first. Don’t worry, I will definitely give you an explanation for this matter. I won’t let Xiao Yu suffer this bullying in vain.”
Shen Shuyu reached out and patted the back of Shen Yisi’s hand. His hand was still ice-cold. Shen Yisi held his hand back firmly.
Shen Shuyu paused for a moment but still said, “Brother, I’m really fine. Don’t look like that. Let the doctor check me.”
Since Shen Shuyu had spoken, Shen Yisi couldn’t say much more. He stood up, giving way to the doctor. Only now did he finally have time to deal with the culprit.
Earlier, when the two top-tier Alphas were fighting in the room, the ordinary Alpha by the wall had long been knocked unconscious by the two forces of pheromones and lay insensible on the floor.
Shen Yisi stood to the side, face dark. He used the tip of his leather shoe to nudge the man’s face to the side and asked, “Chairman Chi, who is this?”
Chi’s father walked over, looked at the unconscious Alpha, and said, “It seems to be Chairman Jiang’s son, Jiang Long.”
“Jiang Long.” Shen Yisi repeated the name. Chi’s father felt his scalp tingle listening to him. He said, “Yisi, today was indeed my negligence. I will bring him to your door tomorrow to apologize properly to Xiao Yu. For now, you should take Xiao Yu back to rest. He must have been terribly frightened tonight.”
Shen Yisi withdrew his shoe expressionlessly and said, “Rest assured, Chairman Chi. Since Yanxun saved my brother, this trouble won’t be counted against you.”
Chi’s father replied, “Look at what you’re saying.”
But Shen Yisi had already turned around and walked back toward Shen Shuyu. Chi’s father stood rooted to the spot, looking at the person lying on the ground, his expression turning cold as well.
The doctor did a rough check on Shen Shuyu. aside from nervousness caused by excessive shock, there wasn’t much else wrong.
After thanking the doctor, Shen Yisi bent down and picked Shen Shuyu up in a princess carry.
Shen Shuyu had lived two lives, but aside from that gentle cough earlier, he had never been held like this while conscious. Even though the person holding him was his nominal brother, his entire body stiffened in Shen Yisi’s arms.
Shen Yisi assumed he was just scared. He lowered his head to comfort him, “Don’t be afraid. Brother will protect you. Let’s go home.”
Shen Shuyu hesitated, still unable to relax, and nodded indiscriminately. “Thanks, Brother.”
Shen Yisi had already contacted the driver to wait at the entrance. He carried Shen Shuyu into the car with large strides and said immediately upon entering, “Go to the hospital.”
The heater was on in the car, seemingly to warm Shen Shuyu up.
It was a midsummer night, naturally hot, and Alphas were more prone to body heat. He whispered, “Brother, turn off the heater. Being cold then hot makes me uncomfortable.”
Shen Yisi immediately had the driver turn off the heat. He raised his hand and began unbuttoning his shirt from the top down, saying, “Take off your top and wear mine.”
Shen Shuyu’s eyes almost popped out. Has the bro-complex reached this level?!
Seeing Shen Yisi almost unbuttoning to the middle, the car windows were closed, but streetlights shone through the glass, illuminating Shen Yisi. His pectoral muscles were visible between the shirt and the light.
Shen Shuyu hurriedly reached out and grabbed his wrist. He said, “Brother, it’s fine. We’re going straight home anyway; I’ll just change there. Even if you take it off for me, I won’t wear it.”
Shen Yisi frowned. “You’ll catch a cold.”
Shen Shuyu added quickly, “Besides, Brother, you are an Alpha and I am an Omega. Even though we are brothers, this is… inappropriate.”
After saying that, he carefully looked up at Shen Yisi, observing his expression.
After he finished speaking, Shen Yisi seemed to have been pricked by something. He fell completely silent, and even his expression held an indescribable feeling.
Did I speak too harshly?
He opened his mouth and said again, “Brother, I didn’t mean that. I meant, if you take it off for me, what will you wear? We’re going to the hospital later; you can’t go topless, right? You can’t fit into my clothes either. Just call someone to send a set over. I’m really fine, just a bit spooked.”
Shen Yisi snapped back to reality. He glanced at his younger brother; the boy’s eyes were always bright, exceptionally clear in the dim car.
He pursed his lips, suppressed the strange feeling in his heart, and gave a hum of agreement. “You’re right.”
With that, he said to the driver, “Drive faster.”
At this hour, there weren’t many people on the road.
Seeing that he no longer insisted on taking off his clothes, Shen Shuyu sat back, breathing a sigh of relief.
They arrived at the hospital entrance very quickly. Shen Yisi had spoken to the hospital while in the car. As soon as they stopped, doctors and nurses arrived with a gurney.
Shen Shuyu wanted to say he wasn’t that weak, but meeting Shen Yisi’s gaze, he lay down on it and let the doctors give him a thorough examination.
By the time the examination was over, it was late at night.
Some test results hadn’t come out yet, so Shen Yisi arranged for a VIP ward. He wanted to stay and accompany Shen Shuyu, but Shen Shuyu persuaded him for a long time until he finally agreed to go back.
By the time he was finally lying in bed to rest, it was already past twelve o’clock.
Shen Shuyu had changed into clean clothes—pajamas the driver had fetched from home while he was being examined.
He stared at the white ceiling. Today he had attended classes, gone to a banquet, been lured into heat, and finally fallen into the water.
He had experienced so much in one day. Logically, he should have fallen asleep the moment he hit the bed, but now he couldn’t sleep.
He turned over and looked out the window. The nurse had offered to close the curtains for him earlier, but he refused. At this moment, the moonlight outside was falling in, spilling onto the floor, turning into cold light.
Shen Shuyu recalled the scene when Shen Xili picked him up.
Wen Jiafei was also standing in the pool, the water soaking his uniform.
Then he should be… okay, right?
