Chapter 22
It was already around ten o’clock when he returned home with Shen Yisi. Shen Shuyu first took a comfortable bath, then lay in bed and fell asleep again.
Although the hospital accommodation was a VIP ward, it wasn’t as comfortable as home.
He had originally intended to sleep until noon and then get up to eat, but he didn’t expect to sleep straight until two in the afternoon. It was only when Shen Yisi finished his work, went downstairs, and heard the servant say Shen Shuyu hadn’t come down for lunch, that he went upstairs to call him.
Shen Shuyu was groggy when woken up. He looked at Shen Yisi, hummed lightly, and mumbled, “What’s wrong, Brother?”
Seeing his confused look, Shen Yisi couldn’t help but chuckle lightly. He placed his palm on Shuyu’s head and rubbed it gently. “Get up and eat. You can sleep again after eating.”
Shen Shuyu sobered up considerably as he spoke. He sat up and shook his head. “Sorry Brother, I overslept.”
“It’s okay,” Shen Yisi said. “I was busy just now too. Let’s go downstairs. The kitchen prepared the Plum Pork Ribs you love.”
Only when Shen Yisi announced the dish name did Shen Shuyu feel his stomach was a bit empty. He nodded. “Okay Brother, let’s go.”
The two went downstairs. The chef had already prepared fresh food and served it on the table. Shen Shuyu couldn’t help sighing emotionally in his heart: It’s so good to be rich. If the food gets cold, they can just make new ones. No matter what time it is, there are always fresh meals.
He ate this meal with great satisfaction. Shen Yisi filled a bowl of soup for him, handing it over while saying, “I heard you asked a classmate from your class to tutor you recently?”
Shen Shuyu’s hand receiving the bowl paused. Seeing this, Shen Yisi placed the soup bowl directly in front of him.
Shen Shuyu withdrew his hand. He looked at the soup in front of him, then secretly looked up at Shen Yisi. Doubts grew in his heart—how did Shen Yisi know Wen Jiafei was tutoring him?
Only he and Wen Jiafei, the two parties involved, knew about this. He wasn’t like the original host who blabbed everything, and Wen Jiafei didn’t have any friends, nor was he the type to gossip.
Seeming to sense Shen Shuyu’s nervousness, Shen Yisi’s hand hanging by his side clenched slightly and then relaxed. He said, “I don’t mean anything else. I just wanted to ask if you need a teacher? How about I hire a few teachers to tutor you?”
Shen Shuyu didn’t respond but asked, “Brother, how did you know?”
Shen Yisi said, “The gate guard saw you going back with a strange male student, an Alpha at that. When I ran into him the day before yesterday, I asked, and the other party said he was coming over to tutor you.”
Shen Shuyu kept looking at Shen Yisi with doubt-filled eyes, wanting to see a trace of any other flaw in his expression. But Shen Yisi’s expression hadn’t changed at all. Only when he lifted his eyes and met Shen Shuyu’s gaze did a crack finally appear.
He said somewhat disappointedly, “Xiao Yu, are you blaming Brother for controlling you too much?”
Seeing this, Shen Shuyu hurriedly shook his head. “No! Brother, I didn’t mean that.”
He raised his hand to scratch the back of his neck and accidentally touched his gland. He used a bit too much force, and since the gland was sensitive, the pain made him let out a small cry.
Shen Yisi sighed. “With your reckless personality, Brother really can’t rest assured with you being outside alone.”
Shen Shuyu’s eyes were teary. Even after transmigrating for so many days, he still wasn’t used to having an extra thing on the back of his neck.
Shen Yisi stood up and walked to Shen Shuyu’s side. His well-defined fingers gently swept away the hair tails at the back of his neck. The gland was already a bit red.
He lightly licked the tips of his teeth, looking away with restraint. He said, “It’s nothing, just red. It’ll be fine later. Don’t scratch it in the future.”
Shen Shuyu gave a hum and said in a muffled voice, “I know.”
Shen Yisi sat back opposite Shen Shuyu. He said earnestly, “Xiao Yu, we have protected you very well since you were young. But as an Omega, you are more prone to be in dangerous situations than Alphas or Betas, especially when there is an Alpha in that scenario.”
Shen Shuyu hadn’t expected Shen Yisi to speak about this so solemnly. He pursed his lips. “Don’t worry Brother, I know my limits. The classmate teaching me is top three in our grade, and his gland is disabled. Everyone knows this.”
The fact that Wen Jiafei’s gland was defective had been broadcast to the world since he entered school. At Xierteng Academy, if you grabbed a random student and asked who had the defective gland, they would give Wen Jiafei’s name without thinking.
Shen Shuyu softened his tone. “I also wanted to get a good grade to make Brother, Mom, and Dad happy…”
The more he spoke, the lower he buried his head.
Shen Yisi blinked lightly. Sure enough, his tone involuntarily softened. “Xiao Yu, we don’t need you to become a very, very excellent child. We only hope you are happy and safe. You can arrange the tutoring yourself, but stay vigilant at all times, understand?”
“Rest assured Brother, I paid him. I am his boss now!” Shen Shuyu lifted his head again, raising his chin proudly. “You can put your heart at ease a hundred times over!”
He and Wen Jiafei were getting along relatively friendly now. Besides, Wen Jiafei might not necessarily be able to beat him in a fight.
Shen Yisi shook his head helplessly and sighed, “Okay, okay, Boss Xiao Yu.”
After eating and drinking his fill, Shen Shuyu went upstairs and sat on the beanbag chair by the window. Nestled comfortably in the sofa, he looked out the window for a while, then called Xiao 1 out: [Why does it feel like I don’t have as much energy as before since becoming an Omega?]
Actually, he didn’t feel it when he first transmigrated, but recently he always felt listless.
Xiao 1 flickered twice and said solemnly: [It’s very normal, Master~ In this world, Omegas will experience fatigue after being frightened, overly excited, or around their heat period. This is normal, Master doesn’t need to worry.]
He wasn’t worried? He’d be crazy not to be worried!
Shen Shuyu asked: [Then is there any way to alleviate this?]
Xiao 1: [There is! If an Omega finds an Alpha with over 80% pheromone compatibility, is marked, and bonds, their constitution will change as a result.]
Shen Shuyu: …
Shen Shuyu: [Next option.]
Xiao 1 paused for a few seconds and gave a universal solution: [Exercise.]
Great, he accepted this one.
Shen Shuyu stayed at home for two days. Early Monday morning, Shen Yisi personally drove him to the academy gate. Only after Shen Shuyu obediently watched him leave did he carry his bag and walk into the academy.
It was Monday, so everyone was a bit listless, Shen Shuyu included. But after taking two steps, he remembered Xiao 1’s suggestion: Exercise changes constitution!
Coincidentally, there was still some distance from the school gate to the Mecha Department. Running there wouldn’t be bad.
He adjusted his backpack, loosened up his muscles and bones, warmed up on the spot, and under the strange gazes of those around him, ran towards the Mecha Department at a steady pace.
“Wait a moment.”
Shen Shuyu seemed to hear someone saying “wait.” His brain subconsciously wanted to stop, but his body instinctively continued to run.
Who cares? It definitely wasn’t calling him. After all, with his meager popularity, only Feng Xing was willing to greet him, and that was for the sake of their family elders.
Shen Shuyu ran towards the Mecha Department with single-minded focus. The next second, he was pulled backward by his backpack.
Literally, he stumbled back several small steps.
Shen Shuyu: ?
