Chapter 29
Shen Xili was also carrying a bag of trash. Business at the bar was good today, so there was a lot of kitchen waste. He opened the door only to see a group of people crowded in the alley.
This small alley behind the bar usually had no one; it was quite lively today.
His gaze turned to Wen Jiafei. He recognized Wen Jiafei; the two often ran into each other on the way to part-time jobs, and he had heard his name at school. A disabled Alpha—in conversation, people always felt pity for him.
Yellow Hair looked at Shen Xili and said viciously, “Hurry up and scram.”
But once he saw Shen Xili’s face clearly, that vicious look changed. He gave a greasy wolf-whistle: “Omega?”
Shen Xili didn’t reply, simply walking to Wen Jiafei’s side and asking, “Need help?”
Wen Jiafei said, “Thanks, no need.”
Last time, he fell into a trap because he was overworked and went to fight in the underground ring. But recently, his condition was very good. A few hooligans wouldn’t take much time.
He loosened up his muscles and bones. Yellow Hair gave a look to Knife Brother beside him. Knife Brother immediately rushed forward. Wen Jiafei was just about to move, but the person beside him was faster. Shen Xili smashed a fist ruthlessly into Knife Brother’s face.
This sudden punch sent Knife Brother stumbling back a few steps, kicking off the chaotic fight.
Facts proved that Shen Xili and Wen Jiafei, one protagonist and one villain, really had strength that wasn’t for show.
Shen Shuyu knew both of them were skilled, but he didn’t expect them to be this skilled. These hooligans were no match for them at all.
Especially Wen Jiafei. Usually, when bullied by him, he didn’t make a sound. But when beating people up, he wasn’t sloppy in the slightest. Fast, accurate, and ruthless—yet during the fight, he deliberately avoided vital areas, picking places that wouldn’t show to hit.
Feng Xing watched, dumbfounded. Shen Xili was in the Reserve Department, so being able to fight wasn’t surprising.
But who can tell him why Wen Jiafei is so strong?!
Isn’t he a disabled Alpha?! If he went up to fight Wen Jiafei, he wasn’t even sure he could win. His moves and reaction speed far exceeded even some top-tier Alphas.
Feng Xing said in a trance, “So awesome…”
He remembered the scenes where he followed Shen Shuyu to bully him. It looked like bullying, but in reality, the big shot just didn’t want to bother with them.
Shen Shuyu nodded with a complicated expression. “Yes, very amazing.”
Feng Xing added, “Then when we bullied him before, he just let us bully him, is that it… uh.”
Feng Xing suddenly got stuck.
Shen Shuyu looked at the hooligans lying on the ground in the distance and finished Feng Xing’s sentence: “He has a really good temper.”
Feng Xing turned his head to meet Shen Shuyu’s eyes and instructed, “Don’t bully him in the future.” This guy is kinda terrifying.
Shen Shuyu gave two ‘hmms’. If possible, he didn’t even want to have any interaction with Wen Jiafei, Shen Xili, or Chi Yanxun. But dreams are full, reality is skinny; he was now just a plain and ordinary laborer working for the System.
The show was pretty much over. Shen Shuyu said, “Let’s go.”
Feng Xing was watching with great interest, but hearing the Little Young Master say go, he immediately agreed: “Okay, let’s go.”
The two stood up. Shen Shuyu’s legs were numb from squatting for so long. After recovering for a moment, he turned to look into the alley again. Wen Jiafei was half-squatting in front of Yellow Hair. Shen Xili stood in the gloom, his face no longer visible.
Shen Shuyu withdrew his gaze, preoccupied. The novel didn’t write that Wen Jiafei and Shen Xili knew each other, and from beginning to end, neither Wen Jiafei nor Shen Xili had shown any signs of familiarity.
Unexpectedly, outside the plot, the two already knew each other. Shen Shuyu felt that there was information in the novel that hadn’t been unearthed, but there were so many loose ends in this book. It seemed he had to dig up more information himself; the more information he had, the better for saving his life.
“Shuyu.”
“Shuyu?”
“Little Young Master, what are you thinking about?”
Shen Shuyu was called back by Feng Xing. He saw Feng Xing raising a hand to tear off the inhibitor patch on his own gland. He thought about it and also reached back to tear his off. Although they used the best quality patches, having it stuck on the gland was truly uncomfortable.
Shen Shuyu replied, “Thinking that I’m hungry, want to eat something spicy…”
Inside the alley.
Wen Jiafei’s gaze had been on the fallen hooligans until a faint, familiar pheromone scent drifted through the air. He looked out of the alley but saw nothing.
He didn’t pay attention to that trace of faint pheromone, asking coldly, “What did that person look like that day?”
Shen Xili stood behind him. Hearing Wen Jiafei speak, he realized there was an old grudge. Since the matter was mostly resolved, there was no need to stay, as he was still on the clock.
He said to Wen Jiafei, “You’d better hurry. It won’t be good if the foreman finds out.”
Wen Jiafei didn’t turn around, simply thanking him in a low voice.
Shen Xili prepared to open the back door, but he smelled the scent of camellia pheromones. He pursed his lips, thinking: Is Shen Shuyu nearby?
He followed the pheromone scent and looked out, but there was no one.
Shen Xili withdrew his gaze, opened the back door, and returned to work.
Wen Jiafei reached out to lift Yellow Hair’s chin. His voice deepened as he asked, “Tell me, that person, what did he look like?”
Yellow Hair hurt all over from the beating, but he still had the backbone to spit: “Single me out if you have the guts!” See if I don’t crush him with pheromones!
The next second, Wen Jiafei let go of him, but he felt something cold and sharp pressed against the gland at the back of his neck.
He looked out of the corner of his eye. Wen Jiafei was holding the knife they had brought, and the tip was pressing against his gland. Fear rose from his heart, and his body couldn’t help trembling: “You… what do you want to do?”
Wen Jiafei’s tone remained flat: “Didn’t you keep talking about disabled Alphas? Since you like it so much, I’ll give it to you.”
The knife tip moved a fraction closer. Yellow Hair screamed, “Sorry, sorry! I was wrong, I won’t look for trouble with you again, let me go!”
Wen Jiafei stopped his hand. “I’ll ask one last time. The person who saved me that day, what did he look like?”
Yellow Hair cried from the pain. The gland was full of nerves; usually, an accidental bump would make one go soft for a long time, let alone being pressed by a knife. His voice trembled: “Brother, Big Brother, I really didn’t see his face clearly. He wore a mask and a hat. If you don’t believe me, ask them; they don’t know either.”
Wen Jiafei didn’t speak, but his hand moved slightly. Yellow Hair screamed while saying, “Brother, I’m telling the truth, I really didn’t lie to you.”
Wen Jiafei paused. He asked indifferently, “Was it an Alpha?”
Yellow Hair broke out in cold sweat and tears: “Probably. I thought he was an Omega or Beta at the time and wanted to suppress him with pheromones, but he said my pheromones were inferior to his. But looking at his build, he really didn’t look like an Alpha.”
More like an outlier among Alphas.
Wen Jiafei asked again, “Did you smell his pheromones?”
Yellow Hair spoke quickly: “No, he wore an inhibitor patch, couldn’t smell anything. I really don’t know anything else. Brother, Big Brother, I was wrong, I was really wrong.”
Wen Jiafei withdrew the knife and tossed it aside. He stood up: “Scram.”
Hearing this, Yellow Hair ignored the pain in his hand and gland, hurriedly signaling his minions to leave.
Soon, only Wen Jiafei was left at the alley entrance. His expression was indifferent. The person who saved me… who could it be?
Shen Shuyu couldn’t help sneezing. He rubbed his nose. Feng Xing asked, “Are you okay? Want to buy some medicine?”
Shen Shuyu shook his head. “I’m fine.”
Maybe someone is thinking of me right now.
