Chapter 45
Although everyone said the danger level at night was very high, they were undoubtedly lucky. After setting off, they didn’t encounter anything. Walking and stopping, they finally found a new Safe House at three in the morning.
Chi Yanxun made a gesture, and the others stopped. He and He Mingyue slowly approached the Safe House from both sides. Only after scouting it out did they wave for the others to come over.
Upon entering the house, Shen Shuyu slumped directly onto a chair. It was simply too exhausting. He didn’t understand how the original Shen Shuyu in the novel endured this.
Chi Yanxun took out the tablet again to check and said in a deep voice, “The Blue Team has six people again.”
Six people again?
Shen Shuyu, who had closed his eyes, opened them again upon hearing this. They all gathered around to look. Sure enough, the Blue Team, which was five people before, had now become six again.
What’s going on? Could there be some item that resurrects teammates? But it feels like things aren’t that simple.
The six of them fell into a brief silence. Suddenly, Shen Xili said, “I remember they said the tracker only works for the main group. Could it be because one of their members left the team for a while, so the tracker didn’t have his information, and now that he’s returned, it naturally shows up again?”
“Makes sense.” He Mingyue thought for a moment. “But not necessarily. We have no way to verify the truth of this matter right now.”
Everyone had walked all night; no one had the energy to go out again and come back.
Chi Yanxun said, “We can ask if we meet them later. After all, cooperation between teams is also very common.”
He put away the tablet. “Alright, everyone hurry up and rest first. We’ll still take turns keeping watch. It is now 3:15 AM. At 6:00 AM sharp, we set off on time to challenge the levels.”
They had to clock in and clear seven levels before they could challenge the final level at the finish line. In this survival station, there were thousands of levels. Each team’s levels were different. Even if they encountered the same level, only the first team to clear it with all members would have their score counted.
Chi Yanxun’s strategy had been agreed upon before entering: they would quickly finish the levels, then head straight for the final challenge at the finish line, aiming for a quick victory.
But now there was a variable, and that was Shen Shuyu. However, Chi Yanxun didn’t plan to change his battle plan. After all, ancestors left a saying: only speed is unbreakable.
As long as the speed was fast enough, no changes could stump them.
Shen Shuyu was sleepy beyond belief. After listening to Chi Yanxun’s speech, he took off Chi Yanxun’s jacket, picked a military cot, and lay down. Too tired; he wanted to sleep.
The temperature in the Safe House was much warmer than outside. In this environment, Shen Shuyu fell asleep almost instantly. Seeing him curled up, Chi Yanxun coughed lightly and softened his tone, “You guys rest first. Follow the same watch order as before.”
Wen Jiafei, however, said, “I’ll take the first watch. My brain is still very alert; I can’t sleep.”
Chi Yanxun had no objection. He agreed briskly and stepped aside, letting Wen Jiafei sit at the door.
Shen Shuyu slept with his head covered. He didn’t know how long he slept, but suddenly the System in his mind called him.
Little One: [Master, a small squad is approaching the Safe House. They will arrive in about fifteen minutes!]
Shen Shuyu opened his eyes. He stared at the wall for a few seconds before his brain sobered up.
He turned his head and found Lin Xuyi guarding the door. The others were still resting. He looked to the side; Shen Xili was facing him, brows furrowed tightly, seemingly having a nightmare, sleeping restlessly.
Shen Shuyu’s movement was very small, but it was still caught by Lin Xuyi sitting at the door. He tilted his head and mouthed silently: Still early.
Shen Shuyu looked down at the watch on his wrist. Indeed, it was still early. They set the departure time for 6:00, and it was only just past 5:00 now.
Shen Shuyu remembered Chi Yanxun saying to try not to encounter other squads in the early stages. If they met allies, it was fine, but if they met sworn enemies, it would be a life-or-death struggle.
Between academies and planets, there were always some unspeakable little secrets. Shen Shuyu asked: [Which academy is coming?]
Little One said: [Students from Planet Puce. They happen to have a feud with you guys.]
Little One summarized the generational feud between the two planets. Roughly, during the third Survival War, a particularly dirty-playing Alpha came from Planet Puce. He used underhanded means to cause the students of Planet Amor to be wiped out at the critical moment of seizing the championship.
This act instantly ignited the full anger of the Amor students. Since then, in every Survival War, their primary goal was to win the championship, and their secondary goal was to take out the Puce students!
If that was the case, it would be tricky.
Shen Shuyu looked out the window. Although it was already 5:00, the sky outside was only faintly bright, barely visible. The Puce students’ tactic was likely the same as theirs.
What to do? I can’t just say Puce students are coming directly. After all, my persona here is a delicate straw bag, even if I can endure hardships.
Little One broadcasted in real-time in his mind: [They stopped, but one person left the team and is coming toward you.]
Shen Shuyu pursed his lips, got up quietly, and walked to Lin Xuyi’s side.
Lin Xuyi glanced at the others and whispered, “Why aren’t you resting?”
Shen Shuyu said, “Want to go to the toilet.”
The Safe House’s toilet was on the side. Lin Xuyi nodded. “Be careful yourself.”
Shen Shuyu made an OK gesture and left the Safe House with light steps. Lin Xuyi stared at his back, only withdrawing his gaze after he turned around, thinking to himself that although this Young Master was a bit dramatic, he still had a sense of propriety in big matters, knowing to tread lightly when going out.
Just as Lin Xuyi was about to look elsewhere, suddenly, a huge door slam came from the toilet area. This loud noise startled everyone in the house.
The four people who were clearly asleep sat up in unison. As the captain, Chi Yanxun got up from the bed faster. He counted the people in the room and frowned, asking, “Where is Shen Shuyu?”
Lin Xuyi also jumped up from his chair due to the noise. He said, “He said he was going to the toilet.”
As soon as his voice fell, he saw Shen Shuyu walking hurriedly towards them, his face looking a bit unwell. Lin Xuyi went to meet him, frowning as he asked, “What’s wrong?”
Chi Yanxun also walked out and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Shen Shuyu pointed to the distance. “I just saw a light over there.”
As soon as this was said, everyone knew what it meant. Someone was coming.
The others in the room also walked out. Standing at the side, He Mingyue picked up binoculars and looked in the direction Shen Shuyu pointed. Then he put down the binoculars and confirmed, “Someone is really coming, but not many people. Could be scouting.”
Chi Yanxun immediately opened the tablet. Clicking on it, sure enough, the Blue Team was missing one person again.
He Mingyue turned and asked, “Do we wait for them to come, or leave now?”
Shen Shuyu hemmed and hawed, “How about we leave first? I don’t want to fight; I didn’t sleep well.”
Chi Yanxun’s gaze swept over the others; everyone looked more or less fatigued. He decided decisively, “Pack up your things. We’ll go ahead and wait for them.”
This “wait” referred to an ambush. He wanted to see who exactly this Blue Team was.
