Chapter 90
A cool evening breeze blew over, sobering Shen Shuyu a little. He opened his mouth, but in the end, he only managed to squeeze out: “Th-thank you?”
“You’re welcome.”
After replying, Wen Jiafei took the lead and walked into the night.
Shen Shuyu slowly followed him, but couldn’t help asking, “Wen Jiafei, are you serious?”
Wen Jiafei gave him a strange look and asked back, “Aren’t you serious?”
Shen Shuyu laughed awkwardly twice. He was just casually running his mouth; he didn’t expect Wen Jiafei to be serious. He didn’t answer the question again, but for some reason, he felt that Bai Wei’s good days were numbered.
It was already late at night when they returned home. As Wen Jiafei approached Shen Shuyu’s home, he realized the TV was still on, takeout boxes were still on the coffee table, and the throw pillows on the sofa were a bit messy. One look was enough to imagine how hurriedly Shen Shuyu had left.
Shen Shuyu tidied up the coffee table and said, “There are disposable toiletries in the bathroom drawer. Look for them yourself. I’m sleepy and going to bed. Make yourself at home.”
After speaking, he yawned. He had been drowsy in the car, and he had to get up early tomorrow. The time for the awards ceremony had been set before he left the dorm this afternoon: nine o’clock.
From his home to the venue would take at least half an hour, which meant they had to get up by eight at the latest.
Shen Shuyu shook his head. Thinking of something, he stopped, turned his head to look at Wen Jiafei who was still standing by the sofa, and said, “By the way.”
Wen Jiafei looked up at him. Shen Shuyu said, “There are nutrient solutions and some ingredients in the kitchen fridge. If you’re hungry, cook something yourself. You’re familiar with it anyway.”
Wen Jiafei pursed his lips. With Wen Yue in the emergency room, he indeed had no appetite to eat anything. Besides, going hungry was nothing to him.
Shen Shuyu yawned again, raising both arms for a big stretch. He had taken off the gray hoodie when he entered, so he was only wearing a white T-shirt now. The T-shirt was very loose, enveloping his body. As he stretched, the T-shirt slid up with his movement, revealing his waist.
Shen Shuyu’s waist and abdomen were well-trained. Although not as exaggerated as an Alpha’s, among Omegas, his figure was unique—slender yet full of strength.
Wen Jiafei was stunned for a moment, then shifted his gaze away.
Shen Shuyu took a shower, lay comfortably on the bed, and soon fell asleep; he was truly tired.
Wen Jiafei, on the other hand, lay on the sofa tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
His thoughts were very active now. One moment he thought of Wen Yue, recalling how she was when she was healthy, and wondering when she would completely recover.
Thinking and thinking, his thoughts turned to Shen Shuyu. The moment the Little Young Master walked out of the elevator protecting the money, he felt as if the lights inside the elevator had brightened a bit.
Friends.
When Shen Shuyu said these two words, his eyes were bright and filled with a smile, sincere and genuine.
Wen Jiafei rolled over on the sofa. Ever since escaping that devil’s den with his mother, he had been walking alone. There were people his age in the slums, but they looked down on Wen Jiafei, and Wen Jiafei disdained being with them.
It was funny to say, but his first sense of friendship actually came from the person who used to bully him constantly.
He didn’t know whether to feel sad or happy.
Click.
There was a faint sound of a door opening from the direction of the master bedroom. The room was very dim, with only the streetlights outside illuminating things barely visibly.
The footsteps were very, very light, coming toward him.
Wen Jiafei closed his eyes but remained alert all over. Soon, the footsteps stopped beside him, and the scent of camellias drifted faintly in the air.
What was Shen Shuyu going to do? Usually, he would have sat up and questioned him long ago, but today, he didn’t know if he should open his eyes at this moment.
Just as he was struggling in his mind, he felt something being placed on his body. The fabric hanging down touched his hand; he felt it lightly with his fingers—it was a blanket.
“Knew I forgot something…” Shen Shuyu muttered with a yawn. After covering Wen Jiafei, he fumbled his way back in the dark.
He hadn’t been sleeping soundly. After waking up just now, he remembered he forgot to give Wen Jiafei a blanket.
Autumn had arrived in Amor, and the nights had become much cooler. Although the temperature inside the house was higher than outside, it was still a bit cold for sleeping. Besides, not using a blanket would make one uncomfortable the next day.
Shen Shuyu glanced at Wen Jiafei again and left quietly.
Hearing the soft sound of the door closing, Wen Jiafei opened his eyes. He lowered his head slightly, looking at the blanket covering him in the dim light. He hadn’t expected Shen Shuyu to come out again just to cover him with a blanket.
He felt as if he were in a camellia garden now. The fresh and elegant scent was like invisible ropes winding around him, binding his body tight and stiff. But the tips of his ears betrayed his true thoughts.
Not only were his ears red, but his gland, which hadn’t had any fluctuations for so many years, actually felt faintly hot.
Wen Jiafei felt flustered for a moment. Subconsciously, he pulled the blanket over his head, but a second later, he pulled it down to his chest again. This time, he couldn’t stop his face from blushing either.
He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and thought of nothing! Sleep!
The next day.
Shen Shuyu was woken up again by the bombardment of Lin Xuyi’s messages. Now Lin Xuyi was simply more effective than an alarm clock. After washing up and walking out of the bedroom, his eyes were still sleepy and hard to open, but his sense of smell was awakened first.
He looked toward the kitchen. Wen Jiafei was coming out carrying two bowls of noodles. Shen Shuyu sniffed hard, walked over to take a look—tomato and egg noodles.
Wen Jiafei said, “Let’s eat.”
Shen Shuyu wasn’t polite at all. After sitting down, he picked up his chopsticks and slurped the noodles quickly. His empty stomach felt much more comfortable.
While slurping, he glanced at Wen Jiafei and asked, “Did you get up very early?”
“Seven thirty.” Wen Jiafei always ate elegantly; even eating noodles didn’t make much noise.
Watching him, Shen Shuyu slowed down a bit. He said, “That’s quite early.”
Hearing this, Wen Jiafei glanced at the watch on his wrist.
When he looked back at the person opposite, Shen Shuyu was bowing his head slurping noodles.
Looking at Shen Shuyu again with a different mindset, he found that Shen Shuyu was actually quite nice. Although he used to be loud and blustering, he never talked much while eating.
He was a good person too. Wen Jiafei recalled what he said last night about wanting to change for the better. Regardless of whether his intentions toward him were true or false, it was already hard for him to feel disgust toward Shen Shuyu.
Wen Jiafei’s gaze toward Shen Shuyu softened a little.
After all, they were friends.
His, friend.
When the two arrived at the dorm after breakfast, Lin Xuyi and He Mingyue were already wearing unified school uniforms. These were sent by the school, claiming to unify their attire to look spirited, but in reality, they just wanted to take the opportunity to advertise.
It was like this every time; everyone was used to it.
Seeing them arrive together, Lin Xuyi asked curiously, “Wen Jiafei, you weren’t in the dorm last night?”
Just as Shen Shuyu was about to speak, Wen Jiafei said indifferently, “En, had something to do.”
Lin Xuyi said “Oh” and handed them their uniforms. “Hurry and change. The teachers have already come to hurry us twice.”
Shen Shuyu said “Oh” and went to the bathroom holding his uniform. Realizing belatedly, he asked, “Where are… Captain Chi and Shen Xili?”
“They were called away. Probably won’t be back for a while.”
Shen Shuyu nodded and went into the bathroom to change.
By the time he changed and came out, the summoned Chi Yanxun and Shen Xili had returned.
They were already wearing their uniforms when they went out, looking distinctive in their own ways. Shen Shuyu looked down at his own uniform—En, luckily he wasn’t bad either; otherwise, standing here would really be stressful.
Wen Jiafei came out of his room shortly after. He glanced at Chi Yanxun and Shen Xili, then walked behind Shen Shuyu and said, “Let’s go.”
Calculating the time, it was about right.
Shen Shuyu nodded. “Let’s go!”
He took the lead and walked out. Lin Xuyi followed closely behind. Wen Jiafei also walked slowly toward the door, but as he passed Shen Xili, his arm was grabbed.
Wen Jiafei looked over. “What is it?”
Shen Xili snapped back to reality and withdrew his hand. “Nothing.”
Wen Jiafei left with them. Shen Xili, remaining in place, couldn’t help frowning.
On Wen Jiafei… there was the Little Young Master’s scent.
