Chapter 97
Shen Shuyu thought Shen Yisi would be back after he returned, but unexpectedly, even after he finished dinner and curled up downstairs playing several rounds of games, he still didn’t see him return.
It was already past eleven at night. The domestic helper came over to ask if he needed a midnight snack cooked. Shen Shuyu shook his head and let them go rest first.
He lowered his eyes to the velvet gift box on the coffee table. It seemed there was no chance to give it today.
Then he’d get up earlier tomorrow morning to give it to him.
Shen Shuyu told Lin Xuyi in the game, then logged off. He went back to the bedroom to wash up, lay on the bed, and soon entered dreamland.
1:00 AM.
Shen Yisi got out of the car reeking of alcohol. He entered the house; the servants had already received news of his return and prepared hangover soup.
After drinking the hangover soup, Shen Yisi’s mind cleared up a bit. He asked, “Did the Little Young Master come back today?”
The servant replied, “He’s back.”
The servant reported Shen Shuyu’s activities at home in detail, finally adding, “However, before going to sleep, the Little Young Master was waiting for you to come back. He seemed to have something to say to you.”
Thinking it might be about going to the awards today, Shen Yisi asked, “If he was looking for me, why didn’t anyone tell me?”
“The Little Young Master told us not to specifically tell you.”
Shen Yisi gave an “En.” “Understood. But in the future, if he looks for me, notify me or my secretary immediately.”
The servant acknowledged.
Shen Yisi took a deep breath. Originally he had nothing to do today, but when he and Yue Cheng left the awards venue, they happened to see an old classmates’ gathering. Yue Cheng suggested joining since they had nothing to do, so he dragged him along.
He got up from the sofa and dragged his slippers upstairs.
His room was next to Shen Shuyu’s. Shen Yisi quietly turned the knob of Shen Shuyu’s room door. The curtains in his room weren’t drawn, so the light from outside allowed him to see the furnishings inside clearly.
Shen Yisi moved a chair and placed it gently by his bed, then sat down himself, quietly watching the sleeping Shen Shuyu.
After sitting for who knows how long, Shen Yisi finally moved. He leaned over slightly and reached out to adjust the quilt for Shen Shuyu, tucking him in better.
After doing all this, Shen Yisi whispered, “Goodnight, Little Yu.”
He stood up to leave. Just after taking two steps, the night light behind him turned on. He looked back; Shen Shuyu was looking at him with sleepy eyes. Seeming to recognize him, he asked, “Brother, you’re back.”
Shen Yisi walked back. “The servant said you were waiting for me, so I came to check. Did I wake you?”
Shen Shuyu shook his head. “No.”
He had been asleep, but the alertness developed in the survival battle remained. However, his heart remembered he was back home, safe.
So after struggling in his dream for a while, he woke up upon hearing Shen Yisi’s sentence.
He sniffed, wrinkling his nose. “Brother, did you drink? Drunk?”
Shen Yisi sat back down. “Went to an old classmates’ gathering with your Brother Yue Cheng. Drank a bit.”
He smiled. “This little bit of wine can’t get me drunk.”
Shen Yisi was a popular figure; gatherings inevitably involved toasts. They even had three rounds. He had left early using work tomorrow as an excuse.
Shen Shuyu nodded. “Alright.”
Shen Yisi asked, “You were looking for me. Is there something matter?”
Almost forgot the important thing.
Shen Shuyu fished out the gift box he had been admiring all night from under another pillow. He stretched out his hand, presenting it in front of Shen Yisi.
Because of the alcohol, Shen Yisi’s brain didn’t react immediately. He looked at the gift box, then at Shen Shuyu, waiting for him to speak.
Shen Shuyu said, “Didn’t I get a bonus this time? I went and picked a random gift for you.”
“A gift for me?” Shen Yisi’s expression became lively. He took the small gift box from Shen Shuyu’s hand somewhat carefully. Instead of opening it immediately, he asked, “Little Yu, can I open it now?”
“Of course.” Shen Shuyu said somewhat embarrassedly, “But the bonus was limited; I couldn’t buy something better.”
Shen Yisi didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he raised his hand, and with his well-defined fingers, opened the velvet gift box, revealing the brooch inside.
It was a very, very beautiful brooch.
Shen Shuyu had been watching Shen Yisi’s expression. Seeing no emotional fluctuation on the other’s face, he couldn’t help saying, “But don’t worry, Brother. In the future, I’ll earn lots of money and buy you more expensive gi…”
Before he could finish, he was pulled into a hug by Shen Yisi.
Shen Shuyu’s cheek pressed tightly against Shen Yisi’s chest. The thump-thump-thump sound by his ear was Shen Yisi’s strong and powerful heartbeat.
Shen Yisi said, “Thank you, Little Yu. Brother likes it very much.”
Shen Shuyu snapped out of it. He pursed his lips shyly. “Glad you like it.”
Shen Yisi was wrapped in the smell of alcohol now. Shen Shuyu hesitated for a moment, then raised his hand and patted Shen Yisi’s back too.
Shen Yisi let him go. He smiled. “Little Yu has grown up.”
Shen Shuyu pursed his lips. For some reason, hearing this sentence from Shen Yisi always made his nose tickle.
In his growth process, the sentence he heard most was ‘You’ve grown up, you have to be sensible.’
But in this world, Shen Yisi always treated him as a child, protecting him and pampering him.
Shen Shuyu let out a breath. Not knowing what to say, he just raised his lips in a smile.
Shen Yisi rubbed his head. “Alright, it’s very late. Go to sleep.”
Shen Shuyu gave an “En.” “Okay!”
After he lay down, Shen Yisi stood up again. But this time he didn’t leave immediately. Instead, thinking of something, he asked, “Little Yu, want to go to the company to play tomorrow?”
Shen Shuyu had already buried his head in the quilt. Hearing Shen Yisi’s inquiry, he hesitated for a while. Since there was nothing to do at home anyway, and since Shen Yisi asked, there must be a reason.
He poked his head out again. “Sure, but I might go at noon.”
He didn’t want to learn Shen Yisi’s habit of waking up early just yet.
Shen Yisi expected this and smiled. “Okay, I’ll wait for you at the company to have lunch together.”
Shen Shuyu made an OK gesture. This time, Shen Yisi truly left.
He turned off the light, hugged the quilt, and rolled over.
So nice.
Having a brother is so nice.
Shen Yisi returned to his room. He washed up, but lying on the bed, he became increasingly awake. He held the brooch Shen Shuyu gave him, turning it over and over carefully to admire it.
Just as he was admiring it, his AI Brain chimed. The only person who would message him this late was Yue Cheng.
Clicking it open, it was indeed Yue Cheng.
Yue Cheng was currently hopping between venues at a bar with others; the bar was at its liveliest right now.
He sent Shen Yisi a video.
[Yue Cheng: Little Yu’s two classmates are working part-time here.]
Shen Yisi didn’t click it open; Wen Jiafei’s figure was on the video cover. He actually knew long ago. After all, he was the little teacher tutoring Shen Shuyu; the moment he knew, he had sent people to investigate his background.
Honestly, he thought quite highly of Wen Jiafei’s abilities—being able to stick to his principles despite being in such an environment.
But soon Yue Cheng sent a second video.
[Yue Cheng: You must click this one to watch.]
As a best friend, he knew Shen Yisi too well.
Sure enough, seeing this sentence, Shen Yisi clicked the second video he sent.
The protagonist in this video was exactly the contestant Yue Cheng had discussed with him today, the one who looked very much like the Shen family members. What was his name… Shen Xili.
In the video, the lighting was dim. He was wearing a waiter’s uniform, carrying a tray, walking up the stairs.
So alike.
Shen Yisi’s good-looking brows furrowed slightly. He exited the video. Yue Cheng happened to send another sentence.
[Yue Cheng: I was surprised when I saw Shen Xili. He looks so much like you. If I didn’t know you went back, I would have thought you went crazy.]
Shen Yisi clicked that video again. The video was only a few seconds long, but Yue Cheng was right.
Shen Xili indeed looked very much like him.
Why… was this?
