Chapter 27: Diving In Headfirst
Bai Xuci was lifted by the scruff of his neck and thrown onto the rug in the Spirit Herb Pavilion.
He rolled several times before stopping.
Like a ball of yarn.
“Fulin, take a look at him. Once you’re done, send him back to me.” His expression was impassive, his tone flat.
But a hint of disdain could still be heard.
After saying this, he turned and left, leaving a rabbit in a “Ge You Lie” (slouched) pose, completely bewildered.
H-he left like that?
So heartless…
He flicked his ears, adjusting his posture, twisting his rabbit head to look behind.
A pair of green eyes looked over.
Seemingly probing.
“…”
Bai Xuci was speechless. What kind of look was that?
Like he was a lab specimen?
“What’s wrong with you again?” Noticing his gaze, he bent down and picked up the fluffball.
After placing him on the table, his expression was languid.
While the other shook himself, he carefully examined him.
“Fur, quite fluffy. Ears, no problem.” His tone was serious, ignoring Bai Xuci’s objections, he pinched his front paw, releasing it before the other could bite him, “Claws are also good, the nails are a little long.”
Bai Xuci: “…”
Fulin found it quite strange, leaning forward on the table, slowly asking:
“I worried about you for a long time, but now it seems, you’re living quite comfortably?”
The rabbit on the table “leaned back strategically,” entering level ten alert mode.
“So?” He retorted with spirit.
He still remembered the “doorframe collision” incident last time, his eyes full of distrust.
Fulin didn’t mind his little actions, but he just couldn’t understand.
He had been genuinely worried about the little demon, because ethereal bodies had almost disappeared in the cultivation world.
Their sudden appearance…
They would most likely be treated as “treasures” or “cultivation tools.”
But now, not only was he fine, he was quite “plump.”
His eyebrows furrowed, even more puzzled.
He poked the round rabbit on the table, his eyes filled with indescribable feelings.
“I’m the one in charge of the Spirit Herb Pavilion, I serve the Lord, how could I have fallen to…” He specifically emphasized the word “Lord,” his tone dramatic.
Bai Xuci didn’t listen to what he was saying. He was originally holding his head high, but after being poked.
He was a bit unsteady.
Plus, he had eaten too much, his stomach was a little heavy.
“Thump!”
His hind legs splayed out, collapsing onto the table.
Fulin: “…”
So just how much did he eat?
The structure of the Spirit Herb Pavilion was very ingenious. Although it was somewhat similar to a human pharmacy, it was mostly different.
Medicine boxes floated in the air, basically, as soon as Fulin gestured, they would fly over.
It looked effortless.
Bai Xuci sat upright on the wooden table, watching intently.
He had seen these plants before, they mostly grew on Lishan, all spirit herbs.
So they could be used as medicine?
He tilted his rabbit head, remembering his previous experience of casually munching on grass.
It seemed… a bit wasteful?
“This little demon is lucky, the Lord didn’t touch you.” Turning around, he took something from a medicine box and walked over, “But why…”
Bai Xuci retracted his rabbit legs, feeling that the other was not only crazy but also talkative.
So he quietly moved his ears, wanting to cover them.
But just then—
“Besides being an ethereal body, do you have any other abilities?” He was clearly immersed in his thoughts, unaware of the “damage” caused by his words.
He glanced over, a rabbit head had already looked aside.
Sitting alone, there was a faint sense of “sadness.”
“Uh, I didn’t mean that.” Fulin circled around, explaining to the rabbit’s face.
The little rabbit on the table clearly didn’t listen, changing positions again.
Leaving a lonely back.
“…”
Although Bai Xuci knew his cultivation was low, he never considered himself a “little waste.”
He couldn’t transform before, but he still survived.
He even planted, harvested, and picked carrots himself.
Dried carrots, carrot juice!
He was not useless.
Fulin felt helpless, placing the medicine box aside and sitting beside the wooden table.
He propped his head with his hand, his gaze helpless.
The small back was still holding on.
He poked it, the four rabbit legs wobbled, almost falling.
But perhaps due to strong “will,” the rabbit paws pushed hard, bouncing back.
“…”
Fulin was about to poke it again when the other turned its head, showing its small teeth.
Mm, alright.
“This little demon is too stingy, didn’t I say that because of you?” He spoke directly.
Fulin wasn’t trying to criticize; he genuinely found it strange.
Ethereal bodies were rare and extremely precious, and even in previous years, they had a price tag.
Their survival situation was clear.
Therefore, the Lord’s reaction was incomprehensible to him. As the Pavilion Master, he could only report truthfully.
Including how to utilize ethereal bodies…
But the current situation was that the little demon was unharmed, and even plump.
“…”
He frowned.
Could it be that he was overthinking?
After considering for a moment, a flash of inspiration struck him, ignoring whether the rabbit was still emo or not.
He directly pulled him over.
Carefully examining the rabbit head, enduring Bai Xuci’s “fierce” gaze.
“I understand.” His tone was enlightened.
Bai Xuci was stunned, in just a moment, what did the other figure out?
“The reason why the Lord didn’t touch you—” He paused.
“Is probably because you’re pretty.”
With a confident look, he even touched his nonexistent “beard.”
Bai Xuci: “…”
He looked down at his rabbit paws, stretching them out.
A strange silence fell.
After Bai Xuci finished the pill, Fulin suddenly remembered something and asked:
“Do you still have spiritual energy?”
He came in his original form, could it be that he couldn’t transform again…
Bai Xuci lay on the table, his four legs stretched out to make his stomach more comfortable.
But this posture was quite comfortable, he couldn’t maintain it for long, his eyes gradually closing.
“Um? I don’t know, I should, have?”
A vague answer, not giving a clear answer.
Bai Xuci could only see his demon core; as for the “ethereal body” others spoke of, he didn’t know where it was.
Every time he closed his eyes to feel it.
It was just a white demon core, like a floating duck egg.
So he stopped checking.
Too strange.
Fulin reached out to check him, intending to replenish his energy.
But as soon as he touched him, it bounced back.
A hint of surprise in his eyes.
He couldn’t touch his dantian anymore?
He looked down at his hand, then recalled the rebounding spiritual energy, with a familiar aura of oppression.
He immediately understood.
His gaze towards the rabbit changed.
Quite capable.
But Fulin also felt relieved; the safety was much higher, others could no longer easily touch his dantian.
It was also a “guarantee” in another sense.
Estimating the time, Fulin looked to the side and took out a tray.
Since the “doorframe collision” incident, he had a bit of PTSD.
This little demon was precious!
He poked the rabbit on the table, then reminded him:
“Hey, it’s time to go.”
Bai Xuci was already sleepy, his rabbit eyes closed.
Hearing this in a daze, he used all his strength to turn over.
Lying on his back on the tray.
The position was perfect.
Fulin twitched his eye, still picking up the ball of yarn.
He had to send him over, he thought casually.
Bai Xuci subconsciously took the tray as a bed, even stretching his rabbit legs.
He slept quite comfortably.
When he woke up in a daze, he found it was dark.
He propped himself up with a rabbit leg, half-sitting, completely unaware of how alluring his posture was.
“It’s dark?” He muttered to himself.
“And what else?” A sudden reply.
He turned his rabbit head in fright, even his fur bristling.
Fan Yue: “…”
Since he was sent over, the other had been lying sprawled out.
He thought he would wake up.
But he had been forced to observe a series of sleeping positions.
Lying on his back, lying flat like a pancake, sleeping on his side, sleeping with his rabbit legs crossed, curling into a ball to sleep.
Bai Xuci immediately turned over, routinely shaking his ears to wake himself up.
He sat obediently on the demon’s lap.
“Lord, um, I’m awake now.” He said apologetically.
“Heh.” A cold laugh.
His rabbit body trembled, his paws tense.
“…”
“Not full anymore?” He glanced at the timid rabbit, asking.
Bai Xuci quickly replied: “Not full anymore, not full anymore.”
Very obedient.
“Good, let’s go back.”
Bai Xuci: “???”
Ah, go back, where? He glanced at the sky outside.
It was already so dark, wouldn’t they be going to town?
But before he could react, a familiar black mist surrounded him.
There were no animals on the path, it was very quiet, only the chirping of crickets could be heard.
He walked down the mountain with a deep step, then a shallow step.
His posture was quite leisurely.
Only Bai Xuci was trembling.
Although he had lived on Lishan for three years, he had never walked at night!
It was so dark, so scary.
Didn’t he have magical powers? Couldn’t he teleport to the destination?
Bai Xuci really wanted to ask.
His rabbit paws clung to the other’s arm, worriedly looking around.
Fan Yue looked down at the little demon in his hand, noticing his reaction; he was about to use his magic.
But then he thought.
Let him build up his courage…
So he continued walking, incidentally brushing away the tightly clinging rabbit ears.
Brushing away, bouncing back.
Brushing away, bouncing back again.
Repeatedly.
Fan Yue: “…”
He happened to reach the small stream, seeming to be sensed by something.
He stopped.
With a smirk.
Bai Xuci had already put himself in a horror movie atmosphere, and suddenly stopping, it completely touched his fragile nerves.
“Lord, why did you stop?” He pitifully raised his rabbit head, his ears still in the other’s hand.
Fan Yue: “Your friend is calling you.”
The air instantly froze—
His body stiffened, tears blurring his vision, he dived into the other’s sleeve.
Waaaaaaaaah…
So scary!
Fan Yue pursed his lips, feeling it was hard to explain; he didn’t intentionally scare him.
“Can’t you hear it?”
He stiffened again, burying himself deeper, his rabbit head disappeared.
Waaaaaaaaah…
Even scarier!
Seeing the other’s reaction, Fan Yue became a little annoyed, glancing back in that direction.
He didn’t hide his aura.
A ball of black mist condensed in his palm and was thrown over.
Stop yelling.
“Bang!”
A clear sound of water splashing, some stones seemed to have cracked, falling into the stream below.
“Plop, plop.”
A dull sound, then it returned to calm.
Fan Yue looked down, the one in his arms remained motionless.
Out of a sense of apology.
He explained: “He’s quiet now.”
Bai Xuci: “!!”
Extremely indignant, he completely buried his rabbit ears, only his rabbit body remaining.
“…”
