Chapter 23 – Maxed-Out A-Rank
Shen Yan walked in front, wearing his school uniform and carrying his backpack.
The “patter, patter” sound of someone tailing him from behind was annoying as hell.
“You’re capable now; you don’t need to follow me,” Shen Yan said coldly.
“I’m going to school… I also go this way,” Gu Zhuoran looked at Shen Yan with extreme grievance.
Shen Yan frowned and glared at him, truly about to explode with anger. This guy was annoying him again and again.
Disappearing during the physical examination, and refusing to tell him where he worked to earn money.
Unable to figure out the reasons for these things, he was so angry he hadn’t slept well all night, and now looking at Gu Zhuoran, his head throbbed with pain.
The two entered the classroom one after the other, immediately attracting everyone’s attention.
The usually calm Class Monitor Shen Yan had a gloomy face in front.
The usually arrogant School Bully Gu behind him was unprecedentedly well-behaved and quiet.
This visual was so bizarre it was hard to believe.
Everyone looked at each other, wondering what on earth had happened during the few days of rest.
Shen Yan threw his backpack on the desk. As he was taking out his books, he found that blank medical examination form.
A surge of anger rose in Shen Yan’s heart. He reached out, pulled the form out, and tossed it onto the desk.
The paper drifted lightly from the desk to the floor.
Gu Zhuoran bent down to pick it up as he passed, lightly smoothing the creases on the paper with his hand. Seeing his own name on the form, he gave a small smile; Shen Yan must have thrown this out on purpose.
“I’m going right now. Wait for me to come back,” Gu Zhuoran looked down at Shen Yan.
Shen Yan said with cold eyes, “What does it have to do with me? Go or don’t go, as you like.”
The tone was so sharp it was like he’d eaten gunpowder, and the surrounding students were amazed.
What was even stranger was that the School Bully Gu gave a submissive smile, took the form, and turned to leave.
“Humph!” Shen Yan gave a light snort. Watching Gu Zhuoran finally behaving and going for his examination, at least one matter weighing on his mind was settled.
When Gu Zhuoran walked into the examination room, the staff members who were packing up the equipment were stunned for a moment.
“What is it, student?” a staff member asked.
“I’m here for my examination,” Gu Zhuoran handed over the form.
The staff member looked down. “The examinations are over.”
Gu Zhuoran naturally saw the staff packing the machines. Most of the test equipment had been packed away, and only one punch-force testing machine had not yet been stored.
“Can I just test this one item?” Gu Zhuoran asked unwillingly.
Previously, he had intended to give up on the Tongkao, but now he had to obtain the qualification.
This required him to achieve at least an A-rank in one category.
The staff member raised an eyebrow. “That’s the punch-force machine. Can you do it?”
There were many items to test, but the most difficult was the punch-force machine that measured attack power.
Up to now, not even ten students had managed to get an A-rank in punch force.
Gu Zhuoran said no more. He took off his jacket and loosened his shoulders and neck like a boxer, then with a “whoosh,” he threw a rapid punch.
“Bang—!” The punch-force machine let out a dull, massive boom, vibrating back about a meter. The test value instantly soared to the figure “970,” leaving the staff member dumbfounded.
Heavens, 970!
Was this attack power that a human could throw?
An ordinary person’s punch force was around 200; professional athletes could reach over 300; 500 was A-rank strength; and 970… that was almost the strength of a top-tier warrior.
“Did you record it?” Gu Zhuoran pulled back his fist and turned to look at the staff member.
“Re… Recorded!” the staff member said foolishly, recording an A for Gu Zhuoran.
Seeing him record it, Gu Zhuoran finally breathed a sigh of relief and turned back to pick up his clothes.
However, when he reached out, a slight stinging pain in his hand-bones made him frown.
The sudden burst of power seemed to have caused his old injury to flare up again…

[Good Morning Mini Theater — Too Much Talk Leads to Slips]
Everyone: …Ahhh, his attack value is too heaven-defying!
A certain heaven-defying Little Gong Gu: …Sigh, the old wrist injury flared up. Now I have an excuse to go to Shen Yan and make him feel bad for me!
So Little Gong Gu raised his hand and stretched his wrist before Shen Yan: Yan, look, my old injury flared up~ Please cherish me!
Shen Yan frowned: Why so careless? You can get injured even doing a physical exam.
So Shen Yan took medicine to wrap it up, but as he was wrapping and wrapping~~ he realized something wasn’t right.
Shen Yan questioned: Where did your old injury come from?
Little Gong Gu: …Crap, I let it slip! Too much talk really does lead to slips~
Translator’s Note:
- Banzhang: Class Monitor.
- Xiaoba: School Bully/Bully.
- A-rank: The highest grade in the physical exam. Gu Zhuoran’s power level is off the charts! 970 is insane. But he’s more worried about using his injury to get Shen Yan’s attention. Too bad Shen Yan is too smart for his own good!
