The live comments completely blew up—

[I’M DYING I’M DYING!]

[SOMEONE TELL ME IF THIS IS JUST SHIPPING! I CAN’T TELL ANYMORE! I THINK I’VE GONE BLIND BUT I’VE ALSO SEEN THE LIGHT, SOBBING.]

[If anyone says this is fake I will jump off a building right now.]

[How can they not make it official after this? Same-sex marriage is legal, what’s with all the angsty drama, just get married already!]

Casual viewers who stumbled into the livestream were less emotional than the fans, just a little surprised by the flood of comments nearly obscuring the entire screen.

[What’s going on?]

[Is this a couple livestreaming?]

[That was a nice kiss. Is this a movie set?]

[Why is there a kid?]

The scene was undeniably beautiful. The sky was darkening, seagulls flew by, and the sound of waves mixed with the hum of the boat’s engine, a thrumming that could have been anyone’s heartbeat. Tang Yue and Jiang Shulu were both former boy band members; it went without saying that they were incredibly handsome.

And that kiss was no mere peck. Otherwise, why were Tang Yue’s lips slightly red and swollen when they parted?

Even the crew hadn’t expected Jiang Shulu to be so bold. The core staff knew this show was purely for the fans. Many speculated it was funded by a wealthy fan who had made it big. They knew who the investor was: Liang Yi, a manufacturing tycoon who had seemingly nothing to do with the entertainment industry, the one who had crushed the Tang family and inherited everything herself. She was ridiculously rich and had explicitly stated that no scripts or personas were needed. With her approval, Clear Sky Media just went with it.

But they had so many emergency plans! Even if the show was produced with the experience of a dating show, no one expected a scene like this! Even on actual dating shows, things weren’t this… direct!

Perhaps because it was so brazen, or perhaps because Jiang Shulu had just seriously explained the concept of “shipping” to Tang Mian, the thought that popped into many people’s minds was—

Do they really need to go this far for shipping?

Even if the group leader is trying to give the youngest member a popularity boost for his comeback, does he have to do it like this?

Look at Tang Yue, he looks like he’s about to explode.

Wait a minute, wasn’t Tang Yue the one who said “I love you” first?

Though the crew was stunned, the post-production team diligently uploaded the HD version. It wasn’t just the netizens who wanted to see this epic moment; the staff wanted to see it too!

Under the trending hashtags, marketing accounts were going wild, whether for the sake of KPIs or because they were genuinely hooked. The official videos posted by the show’s social media account had pathetic engagement compared to these bloggers writing captions on the fly.

@What’sSoGoodAboutLattes: HOLY CRAP!! I thought I was seeing things!! Jiang Shulu kissed Tang Yue?? On a live variety show?? Is this something I’m allowed to watch? [9x Images]

@AllAboutIdols818: Is this even considered gossip? It’s a live show! I’m so jealous of Away fans, sob! [Video]

Even regular people not into boy bands were seeing a feed full of question marks on their timelines. Most were shocked, some were envious, wishing their own favorite groups had a show where everyone played wingman. Some were even fantasizing about being Tang Mian.

—I have only one thought: MY EYES!!! (in a good way)

—Why do they look so good kissing?! I’ll pay a high price for any Away-era posters of Tang Yue and Jiang Shulu.

—LMAO I could literally hear the staff members gasp. This is definitely not scripted.

—I want to say they’re trying really hard to ship this CP, but I could come up with a reason for anyone else… but Jiang Shulu, why?? And Tang Yue never does this kind of stuff either.

—Isn’t that what makes it so unexpected? Look at all the trending topics. Some junior boy bands even accidentally liked the posts, it’s killing me. The appeal of shipping Away was always the forbidden vibe back in the day. Now everything’s out in the open. After the star-making industry matured, a lot of celebs feel less… real. Not that Jiang Shulu felt very real back then either.

—Even dating shows aren’t like this! Kissing just like that! If Jiang Shulu hadn’t explained “shipping” earlier, I would have believed it. Now I’m on the fence. Who knows, maybe after eight years he’s become a rebel again and wants to do something crazy. Are all rich kids a little unhinged? Though Jiang Shulu seems pretty normal.

—While you guys are analyzing, I’m just going to ship them brainlessly! Tang Yue’s lips look so soft. Ugh, he really hasn’t aged a day, but being a young dad gives him a certain charm.

The show’s publicity team had nothing to worry about; there was a new hot topic every day. It had only been nine days since the premiere, but it had already surpassed many other shows to become the top live variety program. The investor was a big shot, so the show didn’t need to insert any extra advertisements. Compared to other live shows that had to interrupt for sponsored content, the viewing experience for this one was top-notch, making it easy for audiences to get hooked and then shower it with loving complaints.

The employees stuck at the office, not on set, were crying their eyes out. Who wouldn’t be hooked? they thought. I’m so jealous of our colleagues on location.

By the time Tang Mian could see again, Tang Yue had already picked him up. The young father held his son tight, resting his chin on Tang Mian’s small shoulder and nuzzling him.

The boat was about to dock. Many of the other fishing boats carrying the crew had already stopped. The small island wasn’t completely undeveloped; there were even signs marking the best camping spots.

Liu Xichao got off the boat, and Yao Lixin stood to the side, waiting for his nephew, who was holding the dog’s leash. The little boy had a look of profound misery on his face, which only made the Labrador he was leading look exceptionally cheerful.

Yao Lixin, completely oblivious to what had just happened, asked Yao Xuanyu what was wrong. Yao Xuanyu sighed, looked at his uncle, and seemed at a loss for words.

“Where’s Tang Mian?” Yao Lixin asked.

A few seconds later, he saw Tang Yue walking over, carrying Tang Mian. The fishing boat rocked as it docked, and the lights on the shore weren’t very bright. The livestream audience could still catch glimpses of crew members holding equipment in the frame.

Tang Yue was walking with the child in his arms, but Yao Lixin couldn’t see his face at all. Tang Yue seemed to be shivering, clutching Tang Mian like a giant stuffed doll. His tension was obvious from his body language; Yao Lixin even noticed his hands were trembling slightly.

Jiang Shulu came up from behind, walked past Tang Yue, and extended a hand to help him off the boat. The camera operator was on top of it, getting a close-up of their clasped hands.

Nestled in Tang Yue’s arms, Tang Mian reached up and touched his father’s face. “Daddy, your face is so hot,” he remarked. “It’s so warm.”

“Your hands are warm too,” Tang Yue replied.

“What’s going on? Are you cold?” Yao Lixin asked.

Beside them, Jiang Shulu, holding Tang Yue’s backpack in one hand and wearing his own, nodded solemnly. “He probably is. But he won’t be in a minute.”

[LMAO, are they on the same show but in different time zones?]

[Waiting for Yao Lixin’s reaction when he finds out!!]

[Why did Liu Xichao run off again? He seems to be on his phone a lot today.]

[Tang Yue, you were the one who said ‘I love you,’ why are you so shy?]

[He seems like the type to act on impulse. He’s probably dying of embarrassment right now, curling his toes.]

[Out of the four of them, Tang Yue has the lowest tolerance for embarrassment. You can’t tell with Jiang Shulu, Yao Lixin is shameless, and Liu Xichao looks thin-skinned but is probably tough as nails.]

Yao Lixin didn’t get it and just shrugged. Suddenly, he heard Liu Xichao let out a surprised “Ah!” up ahead. Then, Yao Lixin was dragged away.
