I had a child with the main lead chapter 43.1

CHAPTER 43 part 1

Tang Yue caught up to Tang Mian.

Up ahead, a bonfire was already blazing, and it looked like quite a few people were gathered around. This was the designated campsite, and other tourists were scattered in the distance.

Just as Tang Yue reached Tang Mian’s side, someone by the fire turned and saw him.

Jiang Shulu was about to follow when a staff member stopped him. “Mr. Jiang, someone is here to see you.”

Jiang Shulu followed the staffer’s gesture and saw a tall, thin man with curly hair standing in an open area to the side. It was Jiang He. Beside him stood a woman, her age impossible to guess from this distance.

Jiang Shulu was a little confused.

What was Jiang He doing here?

And that woman… Jiang Shulu recalled the file his assistant, Song Chen, had prepared. He already had his answer.

The livestream audience’s attention was fixed on the person who had just turned around.

At first glance, the group by the bonfire seemed large. Yao Lixin had his arm slung around someone, looking completely at ease.

[Why are there so many guys????]

[Wait, he looks familiar.]

[Isn’t that the leader of UL who just turned around?]

[HOLY CRAP!!—Did the show really manage to invite them??]

[It looks like the whole of UL is here. Well, there are only four of them, but still. The production team really pulled through. If we lick the boot long enough, we really do get everything.]

[More importantly, I need to know if anyone shipped the two leaders back in the day, even though they weren’t in the same group.]

Tang Yue looked at the newcomer in surprise. The man was about as tall as Yao Lixin, with a bold buzz cut and wearing a loose-fitting jacket over baggy pants. Even backlit by the fire, Tang Yue found him vaguely familiar.

The man stopped in front of Tang Yue and greeted him with a smile. “Long time no see.”

His smile was brilliant. Compared to the commanding presence of Away’s leader, Jiang Shulu, Miu Shuhuai exuded an air of freedom from every angle. He was like a summer beach or a refreshing sea breeze in a harbor—effortlessly pleasant. This was the essence of UL’s style: rarely sentimental, their music was always rhythm-heavy, mostly following a K-pop route.

[I’m sorry, Jiang Shulu! I want them all…]

[Tang Yue, you haven’t forgotten him, have you?]

[It’s possible. While Tang Yue isn’t face-blind, he used to recognize people by their clothes.]

[Ugh, is this why Tang Yue seems so cold and distant?]

“Hello,” Tang Yue said.

His eyes flickered to the man’s earring, then to the strange pattern on his shirt. Before he could say anything else, Miu Shuhuai asked, “You don’t remember who I am, do you?”

[Hahaha, we all know him so well.]

[Meanwhile, Liu Xichao is talking to UL’s youngest member but still glancing over here. He’s so nosy.]

[You guys should see their camera feed. They’re all huddled together rewatching the clip of Jiang Shulu kissing Tang Yue. It’s hilarious, they almost screamed out loud.]

[The gossipy vibe is so strong.]

[So shameless, hahaha!]

Standing beside him, Tang Mian took Tang Yue’s hand and called out, “Daddy.”

Tang Yue picked him up. “What is it?”

Tang Mian looked at the man in front of them. The buzz cut didn’t look intimidating, and his smile was cool without being off-putting. Tang Mian couldn’t help but compare him to Jiang Shulu.

“Daddy Shulv is gone,” Tang Mian announced.

[Brother Mian, it looks like you’ve already married your daddy off to Jiang Shulu.]

[Why is he so vigilant!]

Tang Mian glanced behind them but didn’t see Jiang Shulu. Instead, a crew member was holding both of their backpacks.

“Have you seen Brother Shulv?” Tang Yue asked the staffer.

“He had to step away for a bit. He’ll be back soon.”

Tang Yue looked around a few more times. Cradled in his arms, Tang Mian sized up the man before them.

Miu Shuhuai wasn’t in a hurry. He winked at Tang Mian, thinking, He really does look like Jiang Shulu.

Away’s group variety show had been a huge hit; of course their former colleagues would be watching. This was especially true for UL, who often ran into Away at year-end award ceremonies and other events when they were both active. Fans had jokingly dubbed them “rival boy groups,” so netizens were constantly comparing them. Since both were four-member groups, the comparisons were endless, from the leaders down to the youngest members. It was a shame their styles were completely different.

Still, the two groups had great chemistry. The one time they collaborated on a TV variety show, the ratings had exploded.

Now, the moment UL appeared on screen, a new trending topic popped up on Weibo. The app’s livestream banner even changed to a nostalgic promotional poster featuring both groups.

—Oh my god! This is bringing back all my high school memories!

—Why are there fan-made voting posters! What are you guys doing!

—My fangirl DNA is activated. I remember fighting with my deskmate in high school over who was the top leader. Ah, my youth.

Tang Yue exchanged a few more words with the staff, not noticing Tang Mian making funny faces at Miu Shuhuai. This was probably the most childish Tang Mian had been in a while, and his antics made Miu Shuhuai laugh. The live comments were filled with “hahahaha.”

Tang Yue turned back to Miu Shuhuai.

The man met his gaze at the perfect moment. Unlike Jiang Shulu, who always stood with his back perfectly straight, Miu Shuhuai had a lazy posture, his hands stuffed in his jacket pockets. He smiled and asked, “Still don’t remember? Looks like I should have brought a puppy.”

Tang Mian didn’t understand and looked at Tang Yue, confused.

But Tang Yue remembered. He nodded. “Then remember to bring a puppy next time, Mr. Miu.”

[Miu Shuhuai’s last name is so… hard to say.]

[Doesn’t he usually go by his English name? Can’t believe both his parents are university professors, his vibe is just…]

“So formal,” Miu Shuhuai said. “Didn’t you used to call me ‘bro’?” He then asked Tang Yue, “Are you and Jiang Shulu that close now?”

[Why is everyone so interested in this?]

[Are people in the industry even bigger gossips than we are?]

Tang Yue, now completely calm, started walking forward. “We are being shipped, after all.”

Miu Shuhuai was speechless.

[Tang Yue, you’re so blunt!]

[I don’t believe you.]

Nearby, Yao Xuanyu was trying to set up a tent. The big Labrador wasn’t shy around strangers and was lying peacefully on the ground. From the bonfire, the other members of UL seemed to be having a great time chatting with Yao Lixin and the others.

Yao Xuanyu called out to Tang Mian. Tang Mian looked at Tang Yue, then at the man beside him, hesitating.

“Can you go play by yourself?” Tang Yue asked.

“But will you be okay with this strange uncle?” Tang Mian replied.

The exchange was so funny, it felt like their roles were reversed.

Miu Shuhuai couldn’t hold back his laughter. “Do I look like a bad guy?” he asked the little boy.

Tang Mian’s eyes landed on the ring on Miu Shuhuai’s finger. “Uncle, are you married?” he asked curiously.

“Nope.”

He glanced at Tang Yue again. He really couldn’t believe that the youngest member back then now had a child. Even though netizens and friends in the industry joked that Tang Yue must have given birth to the child himself, everyone knew it was just a joke. It was impossible.

Although, the kid really did look a lot like Jiang Shulu. If Jiang Shulu still wore his hair curly like he did in one of his old styles instead of straightening it, it would be even easier to wonder if the two had secretly dated within the group.
