Chapter 61 part 1
The audience hadn’t expected the final stop of the itinerary to include attending a concert by their junior boy band.
Varm was a boy band also produced by Chengkong Media. While they hadn’t managed to replicate Away’s visuals, their musical prowess as a new group that had only debuted six months ago was obvious to all.
Tang Yue didn’t know much about Varm. It wasn’t until the day he and Jiang Shulu went to Chengkong to sign their contracts, and Liu Xichao reminded him, that he recalled this new group seemed to be quite popular.
The concert was held at the same stadium where they had performed seven years ago.
It was seven in the evening. Since the announcement, many people on Weibo had been anticipating Away making an appearance on stage.
— I can’t believe such a good thing is happening!!!
— It counts as building hype for Tang Yue’s comeback, I guess. It’s just a pity Away has already disbanded, boohoo.
— No one looks forward to Tang Yue’s solo concert more than I do. I’ve been envisioning it since the year he debuted.
— Hahaha, I can only think of the news from that day. I’m dying of laughter. The expressions on the Varm members’ faces have already been turned into meme packs.
— The Away members aren’t going to wear women’s clothing there, are they?
Thanks to Yao Lixin bringing it up that day, along with the trending topic #VarmConcert, the search terms instantly linked back to the early days’ #GirlGroupAway. Netizens clicking in were met with photos of Liu Xichao and Yao Lixin in drag from seven years ago.
They were photos taken in night mode with fans. The two of them had been caught red-handed by fans, yet they showed no panic at all, grinning as they took photos with them.
Yao Lixin’s long hair was real anyway, so he didn’t look bad in women’s clothing.
Standing beside him, Liu Xichao already had gentle features. With makeup and styling leaning towards a mature lady look, you couldn’t tell it was him unless you were a die-hard fan.
The second photo was a view of Jiang Shulu’s back while watching a concert with his “girlfriend” back then. That “girl” was also tall, but had a devil of a figure—voluptuous curves in all the right places. The frozen frame of them getting into the car was incredibly hot.
— I laughed for several minutes. I can’t take it. Current boy bands aren’t this reckless.
— The reason Yao Lixin looked good in drag was the real hair. It feels like the team really pampered him, not forcing him to cut it short.
— Liu Xichao’s look here, he’s a gentle older sister!
— Since three of them cross-dressed, why didn’t Jiang Shulu do it?!
— Tang Yue doesn’t even have a frontal shot! Bad review! (Even as a die-hard fan, I wouldn’t recognize him. The contrast is too big. That big chest and butt—how much padding did he use?!)
— Ideally, Tang Yue’s chest pad even fell out. One media outlet was super venomous, saying Jiang Shulu caused a “chest collapse.” So mean! Let me find the original post!
— So are they going out in drag again this time?!

For the final stop of the variety show, Tang Yue took the children to play for three days, basically visiting all the scenic spots and historical sites in the city.
After his relationship with Jiang Shulu was made public, Jiang Shulu no longer shied away from anything. He spoiled Tang Mian lawlessly; letting the child ride on his shoulders was a common occurrence.
In the eyes of the audience, it was as if he had completely broken free from the shackles of being the perfect heir displayed in a window case. He could run around holding the child, racing Yao Lixin to see who was faster.
The children shouted “Jiayou,” their laughter crisp and clear. Tang Yue and Liu Xichao stood to the side eating tanghulu (candied haws) bought from a street vendor, watching the two run back and forth.
Liu Xichao: “I’m so not used to seeing the Captain like this.”
Tang Yue: “He’s not a sculpture. If he stays uptight all day long, he’ll make himself sick.”
He ate a hawthorn berry with every bite. It made the tanghulu look exceptionally delicious, making the viewers in the livestream drool with envy.
Liu Xichao: “I heard your new songs are all recorded? When did you record them?”
Tang Yue: “I went to the studio to record them before leaving. They can be released tomorrow.”
Liu Xichao: “Are they new songs or stock?”
Tang Yue: “New.”
Standing together, the two of them looked as beautiful as a painting, especially now in the afternoon; basking in the sun felt particularly comfortable.
Liu Xichao and Tang Yue both had very soft appearances.
However, Tang Yue’s “alien” temperament made him seem more unapproachable to strangers, so there was no issue with people calling Liu Xichao “Spring Willow.”
But they rarely shared the same frame. When they stood together, there was a feeling of doubled gentleness.
Especially the look in Tang Yue’s eyes right now as he watched Jiang Shulu and Tang Mian.
Fans were already making comparison videos between his current gaze and his gaze from the past.
“What? New songs??” “Releasing tomorrow? Ahhhh!” “This speed is amazing. But Tang Yue’s library of works is truly strong. Since his secret identity dropped, he’s getting more and more…” “It would be nice if he sang those OSTs too.” “Who understands me? I used to ship Liu Xichao and Tang Yue. Hehe, turns out they’re the same position (top/bottom). Heartbroken.” “Why is Jiang Shulu so happy taking care of kids? @ProgramTeam, can you let him take the kids to a trampoline park?”
Liu Xichao glanced at his phone. “I discovered that after you and Jiang Shulu went public, you like posting on Weibo.”
His phone screen was still on Tang Yue’s Weibo page. Anyone could feel the vibe of being passionately in love through Tang Yue’s original posts.
It didn’t even look like a celebrity’s account; it looked like the daily life of a teenager in love.
One post every day—fragmented pieces of affection.
Tang Yue glanced at Liu Xichao’s phone and nodded. “Doesn’t San-ge post on his alt account too?”
Liu Xichao: “What?”
Tang Yue: “Love diaries and stuff.”
“What did I miss again?!!” “Damn, Tang Yue, how do you know so much? You’re usually so silent.” “Liu Xichao’s pupils are shaking so obviously.”
Tang Yue: “You don’t?”
Liu Xichao: “I do, but it’s not a love diary.”
He was quite frank about it: “What celebrity doesn’t have an alt account nowadays? I have to complain about the box lunch being terrible somewhere, right?”
Tang Yue: “I don’t have one.”
“My baby is really so well-behaved, boohoo.” “Hahaha, even if Tang Yue had an alt account, he wouldn’t post selfies.”
Liu Xichao glanced at his phone again, clicking on the trending topic #AwayGirlGroup#.
He reminisced about that back-view photo of Tang Yue and Jiang Shulu from back then, and the caption-writing of the unscrupulous media.
He asked Tang Yue teasingly, “Was it really squeezed that tight back then?”
Tang Yue took a look, his face turning red. He swallowed a mouthful of tanghulu whole and huffed, “If I hadn’t been holding my head, the wig might have fallen off.”
Liu Xichao: “Didn’t Jiang Shulu protect you?”
“Every time, I feel like Liu Xichao is stirring up trouble.” “Aren’t mom-fans always like this? Who thinks their kid’s partner is good enough?”
Tang Yue: “He did protect me! But it was just too crowded.”
Liu Xichao: “Then do you want to try it again today?”
Tang Yue didn’t know what he thought of, but his face turned even redder. “No.”
Just then, Tang Mian, tired from playing over there, trotted over. He looked at Tang Yue’s last candied haw and said, “Daddy, can I eat that?”
Tang Yue: “You’ve already eaten a lot of candy today. You can’t have anymore.”
Tang Mian looked at Jiang Shulu and called out, “Daddy.”
His small face was round, and he was cute; even the snack shop owner wanted to give him free things.
The little guy seemed to know exactly what angles made adults like him more, and now he smiled at Jiang Shulu.
