Chapter 63 part 1
The show was set to conclude the following day. The production team was busy preparing for the evening’s events, so there were no special arrangements for the morning livestream.
It felt very, very domestic.
But the fans were quite satisfied because the style of this episode closely mirrored the periodic vlogs Away used to release back in the day. It gave a team-perspective vibe, making the audience feel like they were visiting their home.
Yao Lixin had gotten up early to lead Yao Xuanyu in warm-up exercises.
After following Yao Lixin for so many days, Tang Mian had gotten used to this uncle’s schedule. The only issue was that he got hungry after less than five minutes of jumping around. Now, he was sitting on the sofa, accepting bread fed to him by Liu Xichao.
Liu Xichao wore a beaming smile. As he fed the child, he couldn’t help but lean in to kiss Tang Mian. The little boy let out a sigh and whispered a reminder to Liu Xichao: “Uncle Jiang He will be watching the livestream too.”
Liu Xichao: “He won’t watch it. The old man has been busy lately; he doesn’t have time.”
His address for his partner had leaped in age from “Uncle” to “Old Man.” The little boy let out an “Ah” of surprise. “Is Uncle Jiang He that old?”
Yao Lixin couldn’t listen to this anymore. “He’s just talking nonsense.”
“Besides, you should call Liu Xichao’s partner ‘Granduncle’.”
Tang Mian: “Granduncle?”
The little guy thought for a moment and looked at Liu Xichao: “Then Uncle Liu isn’t my uncle anymore, he’s…”
Liu Xichao hurriedly changed the subject: “Xiao Mie, do you hate me? You won’t let Uncle kiss you?”
Tang Mian’s hair was curly, very much like Jiang He’s messy morning hair. Liu Xichao looked at it again and again, wanting to take a photo with him.
Then he asked Yao Lixin: “Did the Captain secretly get his hair straightened again back in the day?”
Yao Lixin: “Wasn’t his hair always straightened?”
The luxury hotel in this ancient city had a strong local character, looking quite antique and elegant.
The viewers watching the livestream were frantically adding the location to their wishlists, but Yao Lixin’s words pulled them back to their memories of the group, and they began to discuss lively.
[In my memory, the Captain never really had curly hair, right?] [He really disliked having curly hair. I didn’t understand before, but now I get it.] [A lot of recent news is related to the Jiang family. I just feel like our Captain wouldn’t compromise that easily.] [My dad also said there are huge changes related to the company. Logically, a scandal about an illegitimate child shouldn’t affect a wealthy family like that too much. Someone must have made a move elsewhere.] [What time is it? Where are Tang Yue and Jiang Shulu?] [Tang Yue: Don’t cue me, currently showing off affection. Looking at his Weibo now feels like watching a high schooler in love. It seems innocent, but at the same time, not that innocent.]
Tang Mian: “I want to straighten mine too!”
Liu Xichao ruffled his curly hair again. “What’s good about straightening it? You’re so cute right now.”
Tang Mian blinked. “Does Uncle Liu think Xiao Mie won’t be cute if his hair is straightened?”
Liu Xichao made a choking sound. “I didn’t say that.”
Yao Lixin: “He just wants to have one of his own. Unfortunately, hmph hmph, no genetic defects here.”
Liu Xichao was momentarily speechless.
[Mentioning this makes me want to laugh. My friend said the manga artist she follows went crazy and wants to bear a child for his wife.] [Will I live to see the day Tang Yue publicly admits Tang Mian was born by him and Jiang Shulu?] [It’s practically confirmed. No one has been able to dig up any information on Tang Mian’s biological mother. Even if he was born overseas, there would be traces, right?] [Combine that with the ‘parents’ love story’ Xiao Mie mentioned at the first stop, and it fits Jiang Shulu and Tang Yue perfectly. Isn’t that it?]
Yao Lixin: “Xiao Mie, we can eat lunch soon. Go wake your dad up.”
Tang Mian let out an “Oh.” Liu Xichao pulled back the child who was about to run off. “Just call them.”
The hotel didn’t have as many camera angles as the homestay; the cameramen only carried their equipment over when the broadcast started.
Since Liu Xichao, the “Boss’s Wife,” had spoken, the others obediently listened.
Yao Lixin: “I scrolled through Weibo when I woke up. Good lord, Tang Yue was still surfing the web in the middle of the night.”
Liu Xichao laughed. “Yeah, surfing is so much fun.”
During his time in the group, Liu Xichao had maintained a seamless facade of gentleness.
Once the three-year contract ended, it was as if that gentleness had passed its expiration date. Although his attitude toward fans remained the same, it was obvious he wasn’t hiding his true nature anymore. His interviews even carried a bit of arrogance. Occasionally, when Yao Lixin was asked about Liu Xichao’s “two faces,” he would cover for him.
He said he was spoiled rotten, and those who understood, understood.
They understood—after all, his partner was the big boss.
Now, with the obvious teasing in his tone, Yao Lixin clicked his tongue, and the audience understood too.
[Damn it, I don’t want to understand this instantly!] [I feel like traveling back eight years and slapping myself. How did I ship the wrong couple?] [Tang Yue at that time was… cough cough… I think his room was a scenic view room. It was beautiful.] [But it’s quite romantic. A real star ring. When are these two getting married? Separated for five years, then a flash marriage in fifteen days—does that count as fast?]
Tang Mian: “Did my daddy go out to play in the middle of the night?”
Even the genius baby had moments of confusion as he looked curiously at Liu Xichao.
Liu Xichao: “He was playing with your other dad.”
[Hehe, the gentle seducer’s true face is the King of Drivers (someone who drives fast/makes dirty jokes).] [I feel like Liu Xichao and the boss are pretty spicy too. Wasn’t Jiang He photographed passionately kissing a woman in a nanny van before? Turned out it was just Liu Xichao filming a cross-dressing scene.] [I feel like the Boss and the Boss’s Wife really like the outdoors…]
Yao Lixin gave Tang Yue a call.
Today’s itinerary wasn’t rushed; the location was set at the Floating Market. However, since the show was wrapping up, there had to be the customary “Truth Talk” segment. The production team had even cordoned off a prepared stage for them.
The first call went unanswered. The second one was picked up; it was Jiang Shulu’s voice.
Yao Lixin: “Are you up? We have to leave soon.”
He raised an eyebrow at Liu Xichao and smiled. “This is fresh. A day where I rush the Captain. It’s so satisfying.”
[Just how afraid of Jiang Shulu were you guys back then? Hahahaha.] [Some wealthy heirs who wake up at 4 AM to be idols and never change their schedule… truly terrifying.] [Damn, I just found out he wakes up at 4. How did he grow so tall?] [I can understand why Jiang Shulu didn’t want to do it anymore. Who could withstand that?!]
Jiang Shulu’s voice was a bit low, carrying the haziness of just waking up as he gave a hum of acknowledgement.
Yao Lixin: “Captain, aren’t you always self-disciplined? The sun is high in the sky and you’re still not up. That shouldn’t be, right?”
He was teasing with visible sincerity, and Liu Xichao was fanning the flames from the side, gesturing for him to ask more.
In the other room, the curtains were still drawn. There was no “sun high in the sky”; they had automatically closed at dawn.
It still felt like the drowsy middle of the night.
Tang Yue lay by Jiang Shulu’s side, breathing shallowly, his hand unconsciously fondling Jiang Shulu’s earlobe.
What he thought was a bad habit had eventually become a good habit that someone loved.
Jiang Shulu: “Who said I was self-disciplined?”
He grabbed Tang Yue’s hand and tucked it back under the quilt. While putting on his clothes, he said, “You guys can head out first. Tang Yue and I will come over later.”
Yao Lixin: “What about your son?”
Yao Lixin had the speakerphone on. The entertainment value was maxed out, giving off the vibe of accidentally intruding on a newlywed couple’s honeymoon.
Tang Mian spoke up very sensibly: “I can go with Uncle Liu!”
On the other end, Tang Yue seemed to hear his son’s voice through his daze. He felt around the bed, didn’t find him, and suddenly bolted upright.
“Where is my Xiao Mie!”
Jiang Shulu was startled by his sudden rise.
