Chapter 71 part 1
The theme for Tang Yue’s small comeback concert was set.
Before the official website of Chengkong Media released the news, major fan groups were already spreading the word.
For instance, someone whose family member worked in a related industry revealed that the lineup of guests this time was powerful, and if one went to the scene, they might see many stars in the front row.
Tang Yue’s studio opened the ticket purchase link and stated that this concert would have an online live-stream format, also urging everyone not to buy tickets from scalpers.
Tang Yue himself was simply too honest, reposting and saying it wasn’t his last concert, asking everyone to spend rationally.
— I don’t care! I must see it this time! I was still a poor student when Away was together. This old lady makes money now, I have to buy it!
— Chengkong Media is pretty good at fighting scalpers. We definitely don’t need to worry about our treasure’s tickets not selling out.
— So nostalgic! The location is actually Blue Mist Stadium. Away’s first concert back then was also set here. I’m old, it’s been eight years.
— The theme is actually /Catching Meteors/!! Holy crap, isn’t that the theme name of that limited show back then?
— Feels like a re-enactment. The other three will definitely come, right?
— Didn’t fans photograph the other three frequenting Chengkong Media lately? Seems like they are training too?
— I really liked the stage for the variety show finale. This time will definitely be better than last time, right!!
— Jiang Shulu is a billionaire now but he’s actually training, laughing my head off. Indeed, heaven is big, earth is big, but the wife is the biggest, right?
— I feel like Tang Yue won’t dance. He can finally slack off openly and honorably.
— Give us some practice room vlogs ahhh @TangYueStudio
Half a week before the concert, Tang Yue was actually a little anxious.
This manifested in the practice room when he was smoothing out choreography with Yao Lixin; he was a bit absent-minded.
At first, Tang Yue thought he wouldn’t dance for his own concert, but that was swiftly rejected by his agent.
The team knew exactly what he was like. You could say Tang Yue was lazy, but he just didn’t like to move. If training requirements were listed, he would still complete them.
He perfectly fit the word ‘diligent.’
But he didn’t have any super high demands. During group collaborations, he could quietly hide behind others without batting an eyelid.
He had no interest in business operations, nor did he care about popularity rankings within the group like other boy bands. It seemed being at the bottom actually made him happier.
In the end, Yao Lixin was invited to choreograph for him. Er-ge was more focused than when he was on shows himself, grabbing Tang Yue to practice dancing every day.
If Tang Yue was even slightly late, the phone call would come.
There really were no holidays to speak of in this line of work.
Jiang Shulu was now a universally known ambitious CEO-tyrant with a company that belonged entirely to him and complete authority.
In Tang Yue’s words, he could rest whenever he wanted. So often when Yao Lixin called, it was Jiang Shulu who answered.
Yao Lixin: “Captain, why is it you again? Tell your wife to stop playing dead.”
Tang Yue was already brushing his teeth and shouted, “I’m not playing dead, I just overslept.”
Yao Lixin: “Mr. Jiang Shulu, now is the peak of your wife’s career. Can you be a little more restrained?”
He seemed to speak tactfully, yet it also sounded very explicit. Tang Yue shouted vaguely with a mouthful of foam, “Er-ge, don’t talk about the Captain like that!”
Yao Lixin sighed. “Finally understand what ‘spilled water’ means.” (T/N: Married daughter/son leaving the family).
Jiang Shulu smiled. “What are you rushing for? You think I don’t know you haven’t left yet either?”
Yao Lixin: “How did you know?”
Jiang Shulu: “Didn’t you use to arrive right on the dot?”
The fear of being checked on by Jiang Shulu spread again after many years. Yao Lixin huffed, “But I’m almost there. You’d better make Tang Yue hurry up. The concert is about to start, and the dance for a few of his songs isn’t smooth yet.”
Jiang Shulu: “Don’t we need to go over our group dance again?”
Mentioning this made Yao Lixin’s heart ache. “Captain, are you human? You haven’t practiced for many years either, why are you so relaxed? Liu Xichao actually came very early.”
Jiang Shulu had speakerphone on. Tang Yue nodded vigorously, adding several “That’s right, that’s right” along with the buzzing sound of the electric toothbrush.
The heavy snow predicted by the weather forecast half a month ago still hadn’t arrived.
Tang Yue sucked in a breath of cold air as soon as he went out, shrinking his neck. While diving into the car, he didn’t forget to message Tang Mian to drink plenty of hot water.
Jiang Shulu: “You too. Drink more water, and remember to apply lip balm.”
Tang Yue didn’t really like drinking water. Unless the exercise volume was too large, he wouldn’t drink if not reminded during holidays, feeling plain water had no taste.
During the group period, he drank tea with Liu Xichao.
Unfortunately, he was really intolerant to caffeine. After drinking, his eyes would be as wide as copper bells. If he didn’t sleep all night, he would go write songs on adrenaline.
The next day, yawning continuously, he would collapse directly onto the training room floor and fall asleep.
When the agent pushed the door open, she found the other three surrounding Tang Yue.
She thought Tang Yue had fainted from practice, only to find Yao Lixin and Liu Xichao taking turns taking photos with Tang Yue, who was collapsed on the floor.
Jiang Shulu hesitated to speak, but finally pulled a blanket to cover Tang Yue and used clothes as a pillow for him.
At this time, Tang Yue fished out a small mirror from his sleeve. It had a headshot of Tang Mian on it, sticking out his tongue, incredibly cute.
Jiang Shulu wanted to laugh whenever he saw this habit of Tang Yue’s.
Quite a few boys carried bags, but Tang Yue didn’t have this habit. He stuffed everything into his pockets, not even sparing his cuffs. It seemed if you shook him, quite a few things would fall out.
Tang Yue: “I’ll apply it now.”
The car radio played a song by a foreign singer Tang Yue liked. He listened and started humming along.
Then came the recent news broadcast.
“Famous actor Sheng Cangyun has decided to participate in the life observation variety show Love grow from feelings planned by Chengkong Media…”
“A meteor shower recently fell in the X sea area. Many scholars have gone to investigate. Someone filmed a video of the fall, it’s very…”
“The recently high-profile male idol group…”
Tang Yue was still humming, but paused when he heard Sheng Cangyun’s name, glancing at Jiang Shulu.
Jiang Shulu: “What’s wrong?”
Tang Yue: “Have you seen Senior Sheng again?”
Jiang Shulu: “Haven’t seen him recently.”
Tang Yue: “I had my assistant send him tickets to the concert. I don’t know if he’ll come.”
Although Tang Yue hadn’t publicly admitted that Tang Mian was the child he gave birth to, in this situation, saying it or not made no difference.
Everyone knew he and Jiang Shulu had gotten the certificate.
And this new wealthy upstart didn’t continue his monthly hair-straightening service. A curly-haired Jiang Shulu and a curly-haired Tang Mian were photographed at the arcade; they looked like father and son no matter how you looked at it.
It was practically a tacit admission.
Jiang Shulu: “He should come. He’s staying in the country.”
The circle was neither big nor small. Sheng Cangyun was the first person in the circle acknowledged to have given birth as a man; the sensation caused was truly too great.
Tang Yue: “How did Shulu-ge persuade Senior Sheng back then?”
Jiang Shulu: “A portion of Chengkong’s shares.”
If one singled out Chengkong Media, this entertainment company wasn’t considered old-school, but it had expanded very quickly in recent years.
Jiang He was a qualified businessman, and cooperating with Jiang Shulu to utilize the Jiang family’s resources was enough to make the company flourish.
Jiang Shulu, now investing in Chengkong Media with a new identity, became the second-largest shareholder. The payment to Sheng Cangyun was to let him become one of the shareholders as well.
Tang Yue: “I thought he retired completely.”
Jiang Shulu: “He probably wants to find something to do to pass the time.”
He smiled at Tang Yue. “Didn’t you add his contact info? Never chatted?”
Tang Yue: “You know.”
Jiang Shulu let out an “Oh.” “I do know.”
The trailing note of this sentence was elongated, carrying a hint of teasing.
Tang Yue: “You’re laughing at me.”
