I Have a Pocket Dimension to Raise Beastmen Husbands, and the Fierce Female Became a Group Favorite chapter 28

Chapter 28: I Can Repair the Natal Sword

Recalling what her predecessor had done, Su Muyao wanted to cry but found she had no tears left.

Her predecessor had made a similar promise, but never followed through. The moment they actually arrived at the exiled tribe, she had gone back on her word, declaring she would never set them free. She had even doubled down on her abuse of the five beastmen husbands, scheming to sleep with them and make them hers in truth. Fortunately, she had never succeeded.

No wonder Mei Qingchen didn’t trust her.

Su Muyao looked at his phoenix eyes, which were piercingly cold; he genuinely wanted to kill her. The look on his face was one of utter disgust, as if just looking at her was an offense to his eyes. If he weren’t being held back by Xiao Jihan, he would have attacked by now.

Xiao Jihan remained planted firmly in front of Su Muyao. “Mei Qingchen, no matter what, I will not let you harm our Wife Master.”

“If you want a fight, then let’s fight!”

Although Mei Qingchen was incredibly strong, Xiao Jihan was ready for battle. A frigid, icy aura surged around his body.

Su Muyao knew she had to stop him. She quickly spoke up, “Mei Qingchen, what I’m saying this time is different!”

“Killing me won’t do any of you any good…”

Before Su Muyao could even finish, a wave of sharp sword energy shot straight at her. Mei Qingchen clearly had no intention of listening to a word she said, nor did he believe any promise she might make.

Xiao Jihan instantly blocked the killing blow with a blade of ice. The clash of ice and steel rang out with a sharp clang.

The collision of immense power sent a shockwave through the air, and dust billowed from the ground.

Xiao Jihan’s ice ability flared. As the sword and ice blade met, frost rapidly crept up the sword, threatening to encase it in ice.

Mei Qingchen channeled his own power into the blade, twisting it free and unleashing a flurry of continuous strikes. He moved so fast she couldn’t follow his movements, seeing only a blur of afterimages.

Xiao Jihan’s ability conjured countless gleaming ice blades, intercepting Mei Qingchen’s deadly attacks from every direction.

Just like that, the two were locked in a rapid-fire battle.

Clang, crash, boom!

Su Muyao watched them, but they were too fast. She couldn’t see their individual moves at all, only hear the sound of the air being torn apart. A stray blast of sword energy swept past, and a section of the courtyard wall crumbled.

Su Muyao’s face paled. She had to admit, they were terrifyingly strong. She also never expected Xiao Jihan to protect her so fiercely.

The Space System was practically sighing in admiration. “Host, these two are so strong! Host, their talent, constitution, and abilities are all top-tier, and they’re so beautiful! Host, you should really make your relationship official. As long as you sleep with them, your strength will level up in no time!”

The corner of Su Muyao’s mouth twitched. “Can you stop saying that? In this situation, what do you think I can possibly do to them? I’d be dead before I even tried.”

“You can conquer them, Host!” the System insisted. “My Host is the best! With your beauty and skills, you can definitely win them over!”

Su Muyao touched the disfigured half of her face. “Not with this face, I can’t.”

“Host, you are naturally gorgeous! As soon as that side of your face heals, you’ll stun everyone! Besides, your inner beauty is radiant, too!”

A vein throbbed on Su Muyao’s forehead. “That’s just you. You’re biased.”

The System had been with her since she was a child in her last life, so it was clearly attached. It was always throwing out absurd compliments. But she remained rational. “System, think of a way, now. If there’s any method to boost my power quickly, tell me. I have to stop them before they bring the whole house down.”

Su Muyao was surprised; she hadn’t realized Xiao Jihan was this strong. He wasn’t letting Mei Qingchen gain any ground at all, firmly suppressing his attacks.

The System went quiet for a moment as if searching for something. Then it piped up, “Host, I’ve got it! Mei Qingchen’s sword was crippled by that dark energy, but your ability can also heal it! You can make a deal with him: you heal his sword, and he can’t kill you!”

Su Muyao let out a breath of relief. She shouted over the din, “Mei Qingchen, I can repair your sword! If I can’t, it won’t be too late for you to kill me then! It’s true, you can let me try it right now!”

At her words, Mei Qingchen paused his attack. He stared at her with suspicious phoenix eyes, a dark, gloomy shadow settling over his exquisite features.

With Mei Qingchen stopping, Xiao Jihan also retracted his power. Mei Qingchen’s entire being radiated a heavy pressure. His exquisite phoenix eyes were locked on Su Muyao. Suddenly, a strange, cold smile touched his lips. “You just said you can repair this sword?”

Seeing that he had actually listened, Su Muyao’s heart, which had been in her throat, slowly settled. “Yes, I can. You can let me try first. If I can’t do it, it won’t be too late for you to kill me then.”

Su Muyao glanced around the yard. Sigh. Half of it was already destroyed. At least she’d stopped them in time.

Mei Qingchen didn’t believe her for a second. No matter how she acted, he wouldn’t trust her.

But this sword was his natal sword. It was spiritual and incredibly important to him. He had risked his life to retrieve it from the Death Valley and had searched for countless ways to repair it, all in vain.

He refused to believe she could fix it. Back in the Beast Imperial City, she was famous for being a useless brat. She didn’t even have spiritual power. How could she possibly restore a treasure like this?

Xiao Jihan also looked at Su Muyao. Seeing her serious, confident expression, his eyes narrowed slightly. “Mei Qingchen, you can let her try.”

Mei Qingchen sneered. “Xiao Jihan, has it been that long? You’re already protecting her and speaking on her behalf?” He looked back at Su Muyao. “You certainly have your methods.”

Mei Qingchen looked down at the sword in his hand, at its corrupted, broken state. A flicker of deep pain crossed his eyes. After a moment, he gritted his teeth. “Fine. I’ll let you try.”

“I want to see exactly what trick you’re trying to pull.”

Even if there was only the slightest chance, he had to take it.

He still didn’t believe her. Not one bit. But he walked toward her, one step at a time.

Xiao Jihan remained at Su Muyao’s side, seemingly to prevent Mei Qingchen from making any sudden moves. But he also knew Mei Qingchen had his own code; if he said he’d let her try, he wouldn’t attack. Unless, of course, Su Muyao deliberately provoked him.

Even as Mei Qingchen walked toward Su Muyao, his expression was wary, as if he was afraid she would suddenly lunge at him. He was guarding against her touching him—he wouldn’t even let her touch his clothes.

Of course, Su Muyao was not her predecessor. She would never do something so shameless.

Mei Qingchen stopped in front of Su Muyao, keeping a safe distance while still being able to place the sword before her.

“Go ahead. Try.”
