I Raised a Cub in the Military Academy Chapter 20.2

Part 2

On the way, he ran into Huai Boshe and Yun Yingyao again, walking side by side.

Yun Yingzhi felt that the more he didn’t want to see Huai Boshe these past two days, the more frequently he encountered him.

As for Huai Boshe on the other end, he didn’t see him.

Yun Yingzhi scanned his surroundings and saw no one.

He went to a secluded spot, transformed into his Second Form, found a small pebble, and kicked it toward Huai Boshe.

Suddenly, a low, raspy chuckle reached his ears.

Yun Yingzhi’s fur stood on end. The fragile little rabbit was thoroughly spooked, but that didn’t stop him from leaping away and hiding.

The pebble kicked by the little rabbit was perfectly avoided by Huai Boshe.

Huai Boshe looked left and right, his brow furrowing as he barked, “Who is it?”

Hiding in the shadows, the little rabbit twitched its ears, not daring to make a sound.

A short while later, Huai Boshe and Yun Yingyao left.

The little rabbit blinked his round, dark eyes and scanned the area again, trying to find the person who had chuckled, but he found no one.

After thinking it over, he made a dash for the Source Weapon Manufacturing Department.

On the way, he heard a student say, “Did something just zip past?”

“So fast!”

Before arriving at the department, Yun Yingzhi transformed back into his human form and rented a studio.

Looking at the wide array of materials in the vending machine, he considered manufacturing the weapon for Yu Feiwen first.

Yun Yingzhi thought of his own Source Weapon.

Energy is transmitted through engravings, compressed, gathered, and overlapped to form an energy shell.

Since Yu Feiwen had an affinity for Wind and Lightning, could he trigger a lightning explosion in a similar way? For example, a bolt of heavenly lightning as thick as a barrel?

Almost the instant he thought of it, Yun Yingzhi couldn’t control his itching hands. He directly scanned the QR code with his terminal to pay and took the materials to try and manufacture it.

This was Yun Yingzhi’s strength, but also his flaw: he preferred practical experimentation over theoretical reasoning.

When he manufactured Source Weapons, his focus was extremely high, but because of that, he often did things that were irreversible.

For example…

During the experimentation, a flash of inspiration hit him. He suddenly thought of the space-type ability he wanted to make for Yun Yinghui to block the Zerg Queen’s mental fluctuations. Could he then…

Fake the fluctuations to make the Zerg Legions kill each other?

This was just a momentary thought of Yun Yingzhi’s.

It was during his lapse of focus that he snapped back to reality and realized he had “impressively” ruined all the materials he had just purchased.

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids twitched. He silently looked at the pile of expensive, wasted materials. His body swayed, and with a grumpy face, he sat on the floor, his mind dazed and blank.

He didn’t even have the courage to check his personal account to see how much money he had wasted in his distracted state.

His only self-consolation was that he had found a new line of thought.

Yun Yingzhi sniffled and patted his cheeks. After comforting himself, he cleaned up all the wasted materials on the floor and threw them into the trash.

Most Source Weapon materials were extremely delicate; if they weren’t handled perfectly, they would be ruined and couldn’t be recycled. This was one of the reasons why training a manufacturer was so difficult.

It all boiled down to one reason: poverty.

Yun Yingzhi threw away the materials and summoned his courage, intending to see how much he had spent.

He took a deep breath, his hands trembling slightly as he opened his terminal to check his transaction history.

In that instant, Yun Yingzhi’s body swayed. He couldn’t help himself and fell directly onto his backside, dazed and lost.

He tried to hold it in, but he couldn’t. The corners of his mouth turned down, and his dark eyes instantly filled with tears as he dialed Yun Yinghui’s communication.

The call was connected quickly.

It was already late at night. On the other end, Yun Yinghui was wearing pajamas, his collar open to reveal a perfect collarbone.

Yun Yinghui had inherited his parents’ black hair and black eyes. His features were extremely handsome, and his aura was piercing, exactly like General Yun.

General Yun and Madame Yun had cold temperaments. Yun Yinghui and Yun Yingyao likely inherited those genes, as they also rarely smiled and seemed to radiate coldness at all times. In contrast, aside from his inherited “upgraded” good looks, Yun Yingzhi didn’t resemble a child of the General’s Manor in any way.

Seeing Yun Yingzhi, Yun Yinghui’s cold eyes softened. “Zhizhi, what’s wrong?” He scanned the background of the projection, quietly observing where Yun Yingzhi was.

Yun Yingzhi said, “I missed Brother.” His voice was full of grievance.

Yun Yinghui paused and said, “I missed you too.” He then asked, “Why are you about to cry? If someone at Fense Academy is bullying you, tell Brother. I’ll find someone to talk sense into them.”

This was a euphemistic way of saying: Don’t be afraid, I’ll find someone to beat them up for you. Yun Yingzhi thought: This is Yun Yinghui.

When Yun Yingzhi was very small, there were indeed some children who liked to bully him.

However, in those situations, Yun Yingzhi usually didn’t even need to find his brother. The little boys and girls around him would stand up for the soft, weak little white rabbit. Later, Yun Yinghui might find out what happened and would make a special visit to ensure those bullies apologized.

During that time, rumors of Yun Yinghui’s overprotectiveness spread, and those who wanted to bully Yun Yingzhi didn’t dare to anymore.

Even now, having entered the university department of Fense Academy, if he were bullied, Yun Yinghui would absolutely stand up for him.

Yun Yingzhi said, “No, no one is bullying me.”

“If not, why is Zhizhi crying?” Yun Yinghui’s voice was as cold as ever, yet the concern within was still palpable.

Yun Yingzhi repeated, “I missed Brother.”

“…Missed Brother enough to cry?” A trace of amusement entered Yun Yinghui’s voice.

Yun Yingzhi nodded, looking very clingy. He thought for a moment and, knowing Yun Yinghui loved his Second Form, he transformed into the cute little rabbit to show him.

Yun Yingzhi suddenly remembered the distant past. He was very small then.

To him, spaceship tickets were incredibly expensive.

He had heard a servant at home mention a person whose Second Form was a hamster. To avoid paying for a ticket, they hid in a friend’s pocket and got a free ride as a “domestic pet”—round trip, no less.

Even after all these years, similar things still happened.

It was quite ridiculous.

Ability users with large beast forms couldn’t take that path, but those with small forms under 30cm found it relatively easy to skip the fare.

At one point, Yun Yingzhi thought Yun Yinghui was very poor—the kind who couldn’t even put food on the table. But he still fantasized about his brother taking him all over the world to various habitable planets. At that time, Yun Yingzhi’s Second Form was not even 20cm. He had told Yun Yinghui with a look of adoration that he was so tiny, Yun Yinghui could just stuff him in a pocket and take him wherever he went. He was easy and cheap to raise.

Aside from eating a bit much, he hardly cost any money.

Yun Yinghui said, “Be good, Zhizhi. Wait a bit longer, and I’ll come see you, alright?”

Yun Yingzhi snapped out of his memories and nodded heavily.

Yun Yinghui paused and began his duties as an elder brother.

He asked Yun Yingzhi why it was already 1:00 AM and he wasn’t asleep yet.

Yun Yingzhi felt aggrieved. He looked timid but firmly voiced his dissatisfaction in a small voice: “Brother, aren’t you staying up late too?”

Yun Yinghui: “I’m an adult.”

Yun Yingzhi immediately understood his brother’s meaning: because he was an adult, he could manage his own time as he pleased.

“I’m an adult too!” Yun Yingzhi switched from his rabbit form back to human and shouted.

Yun Yinghui paused and said, “You’re different. You’re still small.”

Yun Yingzhi was a bit angry. He was indeed a bit different; since he was little, he had been a tiny, fragile little white rabbit that was particularly good at eating.

Yun Yinghui said, “Go to sleep. You aren’t allowed to stay up late anymore.”

Yun Yinghui didn’t hang up.

He essentially supervised Yun Yingzhi until he was sure he had returned to the dorm before finally ending the call.

Back at the dorm, Yun Yingzhi scanned the room. Clearly, his three roommates were truly exhausted; after telling him to sleep early, they had begun snoring loudly.

Yun Yingzhi took a quick “battle shower” and fell asleep the moment he hit the bed.

Suddenly, a bell rang.
